  • The introduction of motorized knobs overcomes the mismatch that conventional synthesizers present when changing patches. NINA’s knobs instantly update to predefined positions anytime you change patch, and adjust automatically during console operation, patch morphing, and modulation to accurately display current settings.
  • The motorized knobs feel exactly like conventional analog potentiometers, but with the ability to instantly switch between a rotary dial and a multiple position switch to better cater for what you’re controlling and the amount of variance required.
  • The tune controls use this feature to switch between coarse step detuning, which works like a rotary switch, and fine detuning, which feels just like a standard potentiometer.
  • The motors can also change the amount of resistance that you feel, creating a tighter feel, or change positions to add end stops, zero detents and notched effects.
  • The controllers are incredibly precise with more than 16,000 steps of stable accuracy across a single rotation. This level of control allows for super-accurate recall and precise tuning adjustments, giving you the ability to finesse the sound exactly as you desire.

  • 3 Oscillators per voice (2 analog VCOs, 1 digital wavetable)
  • Oscillator 1 and 2 waveforms morphable between triangle, sawtooth, and blend with the pulse wave
  • Suboctave mode for VCO 1 square wave
  • Hard Sync Oscillator 2 from VCO 1
  • Fine and Course tune control with up to 8-octave range
  • 96 kHz 24-bit wavetable oscillator resolution
  • User loadable wavetables
  • Selectable Fuzz & Noise sources—Pink, White, Oscillator 1 and 2 XOR (Fuzz), or external input
  • LFO with selectable shapes, modulatable rate and level controls

  • Classic 4-pole transistor ladder VCF
  • Modulatable resonance, available as a matrix destination
  • Extremely overdrivable, or perfectly smooth low-noise modes

  • Traditional ADSR envelope with ultrafast slopes possible
  • Melbourne Instruments designed four-quadrant VCA
  • Stereo: 2 VCAs per voice
  • Infinite panning

  • Play up to 12 voices in unison or polyphonically.
  • Mono Triggered and Legato modes.
  • Selectable polyphonic panning schemes

  • Extensive modulation matrix with 16 sources and 27 destinations (no bus count limitation)
  • Morphable modulation settings
  • Quick to edit MOD mode. Select a source and dial in amounts instantly on control panel
  • All MOD amounts are through zero (bipolar)

  • Morph between patches to create unique, evolving timbres
  • Morph entire patches including both modulation matrices

  • 2 ADSR envelopes available as mod sources
  • Modulate Attack, Decay, Sustain, Release, and Level, using velocity or any other mod source

[Analog] I admit I was attracted to Nina by the innovative powered knobs and ‘50s sci-fi design. When a price break came, I ordered one. My first reaction was that it was cool — but given my active arsenal of three German digitals and two American analogs, it would probably be redundant and, even at that price, have to go back.

And then I started falling in love with Nina. The sound has a flavorful character that cuts through my dense mixes with a presence and authority unmatched by my other synths. Perhaps I’m still in the honeymoon phase, but I find it's the first, and often only, synth I reach for.

I’m a songwriter by nature, not a sound designer. When I want a certain sound, I want a preset that quickly gets me in the ballpark that I can then tweak to taste.

Nina has the most immediately useful UI of any synth I’ve ever used. Not only are the powered knobs an integral part of the design, but several other aspects of the UI are uniquely useful. The datawheel entry for naming patches, for example, has been rethought and just makes sense. The mod matrix is uncommonly simple to access and tweak. And the morph feature is very useful.

What if some curious and resourceful electronic musicians were stuck inside during a global pandemic? And what if they just wanted to make things work as well as possible without necessarily repeating the way they’ve always been done? You’d end up with something pretty much like the Nina — a pathfinding and beautiful instrument.

[12 Voice] I previously reviewed the Moog Mavis negatively due to the lack of VCF out but I feel that this is an unfair reflection of the product (every synth is not the same and this is not the Werkstatt).

The Moog sound of this synth is very satisfying and fulfilling to experiment with (though I would like to figure out how to drive the added wave folding more aggressively), whether you're looking for a musical or more experimental sound. It's interesting that Moog decided to add some west coast sound with the wave folding (perhaps they may play with more in the future).

The utility features of this synth make it pretty useful for playing with other synths (like the Werkstatt). For more inspiration check out the Patching with Intention patch book for the Mavis, and the Mavis Exploration Patch Book by Lisa Bella Donna.

[Analog] First of all, it's a prophet 5 that you can take everywhere reliably! Immediate sounds, intuitive and simple interface and build quality is the best.

Sounds huge and beautiful without much effort, super fun to play with.

[Analog] Dr. Bob Moog once said When a pianist sits down and does a virtuoso performance, he is, in a technical sense, transmitting more information to a machine than any other human activity involving machinery allows.

He later refined this to Musical instruments provide the most efficient and refined interface between human and machine of anything we know.

Given the nearly infinitely nature of the evolving relationship between artist and instrument, the achievement of Moog Music evident in the Moog One, in terms of interface design, is nothing short of remarkable.

Not only have the minds at Moog succeeded in realizing Dr. Moog's dream of a fully analog poly-synth, they have done so in a way that makes the myriad of possibilities intuitive to the point of being nearly second-nature.

If you're looking for the inimitable Moog sound, in a package you may never outgrow, this is the One.

I've been enamored with and exploring music for more than half a century. I now have in my grasp sounds I previously only dreamed of...

Thank you Moog Music.

[Monochrome LCD] I gave this as a gift for my best friend and he absolutely loves it and plays with it 24 seven on his computer and loves all the sounds and everything and also he shows me all the time what he makes with it. He was super suprised as this gift. We can't wait to buy more equipment that he wants soon! This is a must for people who like to make beats!

[4-Part] This is the second one of these I've purchased, to get even more voices. Out of all the prophet follow-on synths that Dave Smith and Sequential have produced over the years, this one finally captures the sound of the famous Prophet-5. Some people complain that they followed the scheme of the original Prophet-5 a little too closely and left out some functions (like onboard effects) that recent synths seem to have, but I think Sequential arrived at the right balance on this unit.

[Black / Orange] After a very long time away from analog synths, this was a great step back that brought many flashbacks. Includes easy to follow documentation to assemble, set up and start playing in no time.
