Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. hello, I have a canon rebel t2 & 7ne with a automatic film roll. has anyone tested this film with non manual camera's?

A: I am using this film in a Canon EOS Elan 7 and the camera does read the ISO from the cassette. So, you can use this film with your camera. Just remember that it's not a daylight film.

Q: 2. Where are people getting this film developed?

A: The Cinestill 800Tungsten Xpro C-41 35mm Color Negative Film can be processed in a C-41 process, which is standard for color film development, and most film labs will be able to develop this film for you.

Q: 3. This says it's "XPro," is this the same as the 800T sold on CineStill's website? Or is this a different formulation? Is this actual negative film, or is it reversal film that's designed to be cross processed in C-41? Or are they just saying it has a cross processed look to it?

A: It's a newer version of the original stock. It's actual color negative film to be processed with C-41.

Q: 4. Where can i see the Expiration date on online?

A: Unfortunately online there is no way to check the expiration date of each individual pack of film.

Q: 5. What country is this film made in?

A: According to the information we have, our current inventory's Country of Origin is China. Please be aware this can change over the product's production life without notice.

Q: 6. Is this priced as one roll or 3 rolls?

A: Kodak ColorPlus 200 Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is one (1) roll of film.

Q: 7. Can this film be used with non-lomography cameras? I shoot with a 35mm Olympus O1 and typically use black and white film, but I want to explore the color range of this film. Will it work?

A: That film can be used with any camera which accepts 35mm film.

Q: 8. so this is daylight, but you need a filter??????

A: Cinestill 800 is a tungsten light balanced film, it would be roughly equivalent to a digital white balance around say 3000k. It's perfect for indoors under tungsten lighting however you will need an orange filter (81a or similar) if you want to use this film in daylight or other lighting around 5100k (eg- flash, etc).

Q: 9. Do you have any information on this films reciprocity characteristics when used for long exposures like in astrophotography?

A: Per CineStill: “ We do not currently have a published data sheet regarding reciprocity failure compensation. For very long exposures in very low light some other variables come in to play such as the accuracy of the light measurement. This means that some trial and error may be required. As with all color negative film, it’s usually best to err on the side of giving the film more exposure to create a denser negative with more information for color correcting when scanning or printing in the darkroom.”

Q: 10. Is this film DX coded?

A: Yes, the Kodak ColorPlus 200 Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is DX coded.

[Daylight] I love playing with all kinds of different stocks in my simple point and shoot and this is really my favorite so far. Exactly what I’m looking for when I shoot in color.

[Color Negative] This film is certainly different than Kodak or Fujifilm in terms of contrast, grain and color that adds a green tint. It gives a specific aesthetic to your film which if you aren't necessarily looking for, you may not be happy with the results of this film.

Personally, I love it! So fun to try out.

[0.06 lb] I love love love this stuff, but beware it's not exactly traditional. It's pretty grainy and probably more accurately rated at EI 320. The colors favor greens and it has this very distinctive shift in the reds into a dark organgey look.
I love all of this for my art practice but it's probably not good if you're doing wedding shots or something.

[36] I took this on a day trip out west, and the overcast weather suited the film perfectly. It's pretty grainy, as befitting a more retro-styled film, but it never overpowered the image.

[1] This is a low contrast film the allows you to capture all the details in the highlights and the shadows. Superfine grain reminiscent of Panatomix-X and Adox KB-14 takes you on an absolute retro elegance tour de force! I wish this was available in 120 & 4x5.
