A: The 3 Legged Thing AirHed Pro Ball Head (Matte Black) is compatible with the Slik 500DX Pro Tripod Legs - Supports 10 lb (4.5 kg), but you will need the Oben 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing. Here is the link: https://bhpho.to/3j64irK.

Q: 3. Does it come with the spikes, or do I have to buy them separately?

A: Spikes are not included with this tripod.

Q: 4. Can it work with a acra foot plate for long lens?

A: Yes, the 3 Legged Thing AirHed Pro Lever Ball Head is Arca-Swiss compatible.

Q: 5. I am interested in the Airhead VU tripod head however on my camera I already have RRS L-brackets and on my lenses Kirk lens plates. Can I use my RRS and Kirk plates directly on the Airhead VU clamp?

A: From our testing with RRS and Kirk L-brackets and plates, thus far there hasn't been a brand of ballhead that has severely restricted their use. Based on the arca-swiss design that 3LT employs, we foresee no issues with your plates and the 3LT AirHed VU ballhead/clamp.

Q: 6. Can I use this with the iFootage CB3 C180F monopod base? also, is it strong enough to handle a Sony FS5 (weight 10 lb)?

A: Yes, the 3 Legged Thing AirHed Pro Ball Head (Matte Black) is compatible with the iFootage CB3 C180F Carbon Fiber Monopod with Mini Tripod Base, and it would be more than strong enough to handle the 5-lb Sony FS5 (including a lens).

Q: 7. I want to buy a leg wrap for one leg so that when I use it for a monopod I have something to grip onto. What diameter leg wrap do I need and who makes those?

A: The largest leg section has a diameter of 26mm / 1.02 inches. The LensCoat LegCoat Wraps 107 would be the correct size for the tripod. You can see them linked here in a set of 3 on black. https://bhpho.to/3bRRsXH. From the dropdown on the page you can select the color you prefer.

Q: 8. Does it come in a bag?

A: Yes it comes with a bag!

Q: 9. Will this head slightly shift direction as you tighten the ball, especially when using long focus heavy lenses (for which this head is rated)?

A: once the ball head adjustment knob is in the locked position, the head will hold up to 30kg from top-down in a secure and stabile position.

Q: 10. How long is the monopod?

A: The following unit has a maximum working height 71.38" / 181.3 cm.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] I was worried about all the hype online about this tripod, could of got an entry level Gitzo for the money. But so far I am not disappointed. Its so cool looking I'm afraid to get it dirty. It will jazz up one of the cameras I will put upon it and its an ugly one, the Mamiya Universal and the retro curved Vertical Bracket that they made for it. I'll post a pic when I get it tomorrow from Japan. Thanks B&H for prompt delivery.

[90°] For starters, I upgraded from an old carbon fiber tripod that I found in a thrift shop so it’s easy to see why I’m so excited about this.

This tripod is AMAZING. The amount of value packed into this thing is incredible. It can go to over 6 feet tall, packs to about 16” long and comes with a super sturdy bag that makes carrying it a breeze (if it wasn’t already because it only weighs a few pounds).

The head it comes with is super compact and holds even my heavy Hasselblad snug and secure. It is ARCA compatible as well so even the plate from my old tripod’s head works with it and fits securely. The window on the front to see the mechanism is a nice touch.

Bucky is highly modular as well which is another huge benefit. The tripod can convert to a monopod, a tabletop tripod and can even go extremely low or allow you to securely use your camera inverted!

In conclusion, buy this. You will absolutely not regret it!

[Ball Head] Crazy I know, but I actually bought this to replace my old Gitzo carbon fiber tripod. I needed something that folded up short enough to fit in normal size luggage while being tall enough to do double duty as a light stand when travelling. This fit the bill, and I'll compare to the Gitzo. First, thank goodness the tubes are carbon fiber as this thing has so many joints (3 just for the center column!) it's a little on the heavy side, certainly compared to the Gitzo which has plastic twist locks instead of the beefy metal ones on the 3LT. The good news is that despite all those joints, it remains as sturdy as the Gitzo (which is way better than friends' travel tripods like the Peak which seems to sway a lot at the knees.) The locks have a very positive click on, click off feel just like the Gitzo. The versatility (invert the column, remove the column, even replace the legs with the little stubby ones) is great, but I wish the legs had a way to lock in place. If I don't have them really tight, they will sometime loosen up when working the twist locks on the joints.

Oh, and the ballhead? It's compact and very smooth to operate. I haven't tried mounting anything really heavy to it, but based on hand pressure testing I don't have any concerns of it creeping.

[Ball Head] I bought this to use with a Peak Design tripod with the Universal Head adapter, since I wanted to do pans, and the stock PD head doesn't have a panning capability. Panning axis has just the right amount of resistance, and the large knob locks the ball securely for my DSLR with a 200mm. I didn't miss/don't see the need for a separate friction control on a ball this size. Great compact travel head.

[1.27 lb] I've used a number of tripod heads over the years but this one may be my favorite. I now shoot with the Nikon Z mirrorless system exclusively so I would recommend getting the 3 Legged Thing L bracket for the Z6/Z7 which really compliments this particular ball head. As for the head itself, it's compact yet extremely sturdy. The ball head adjustment knob dampens down movement in a very precise and controlled way, there is no slop at all, unlike other ball heads. Plus you can use this on any tripod with a 3/8th screw mount. I have mine on a Benro carbon fiber tripod which makes it light as a feather. Another bonus is the leveling bubble which I have found to be extremely helpful especially when dealing with uneven ground. I've been shooting for over 30 years at this point so I'm kind of jaded when it comes to new photo accessories, but I'm absolutely jazzed over this new ball head. It's made tripod shooting so much more pleasant and user friendly. Get one and see for yourself!
