The Sunwayfoto PMB-18 Inverted Ball Head Arca-Type Clampfrom Sunwayfoto PMB-18 Inverted Ball Head Arca-Type Clampis a compact ball head that features a unique inverted design that provides low-profile panoramic positioning. It has a 1/4"-20 female threaded base for easily attaching to many tripod models or other quick release plates, plus a stainless steel 1/4"-20 adapter stud for attaching clamps or other adapters. The quick release lever allows the head to be released, repositioned, and re-locked in just seconds. An independent pan lock knob allows precise positioning along the numbered panoramic scale. The integrated Arca-type quick release clamp has a precision scale and bubble level.

[0.43 lb] I never heard of Sunwayfoto until I bought one of their Arca-compatible plates and was impressed with the quality and attention to detail - not something you normally think about in a tripod plate. This head is beautifully machined and rock-steady. I tried it with a 16 pound view camera and it was very stable (no sagging) but remained easy to adjust. It works just as nicely with lighter equipment. The ball locks solidly well before the friction knob is fully tightened. The friction limiter is a small thumb- or coin-adjustable screw set in to the friction knob. The friction, panning and clamp knobs are metal (no rubber cover) and have a machined texture that can be a bit hard on the fingers. It's a low-profile head which means the stem from the ball to the clamp is short. If you're using the cutouts there are certain orientations where the clamp may bump the friction knob. The bullseye level on the long side clamp can be moved to the shorter side if you prefer. 5

[90°] Bought this to use atop a Manfrotto 502 fluid head. The Manfrotto plates are okay but long and have pointed corners that always poke your hand in an uncomfortable way. I replaced the plates on the 300 and 70-200 with Arca- Swiss (shorter and better made) plates and life is better. 5

[Ball Head] Relatively inexpensive clamp. I got 3 of them to screw to Manfrotto 200PL quick release plate in order to make Manfrotto/Arca-Swiss adapters. If you gonna repeat that, put a drop of Loctite 609 glue on the threads. 5

[Yes] I mounted this on my Manfrotto Compact Travel 61" tripod. Setup was quick. The item came in a well protected packaging. This little item saved me from having to purchase an ARCA type tripod (at least until this one is kaput). Now I can transition from my Peak Design clip on shoulder strap to the tripod without removing the ARCA mount. 5

[Yes] Sturdy, well made clamp. I like the longer length compared to some clamps and the knob turns smoothly. Just note that the knob is right against the edge, so it could bump up against a wider base or other knobs, depending on what you attach it to. It works well for my needs. 5
