Designed to help control overly hot signals in stage or studio applications, the SES-MULTIPAD-2 from Sescom is a balanced inline attenuation adapter that provides six positions of precision attenuation ranging from -25 to -75 dB. This impedance-friendly adapter plugs directly into the I/O of equipment or between 3-pin XLR cables to effectively stop overloading peaks and distortion for a completely flat-across-the-board cut.

A: The Sescom 3-Input, 1-Output Passive XLR Mixer will mix and sum the signal of three microphones as desired, but because it is passive, will not supply phantom power to condenser microphones.

Q: 4. What is the input/output impedance for this device?

A: The input inpedance is 1.6K? (-10dB), and the output is 660?(-10dB).

Q: 5. will this let me connect stereo mini headphones to optical audio output. If not, which device will let me do that?

A: The Sescom SES-DAC1 Audio Converter has TOSLink Optical S/PDIF input and RCA coaxial S/PDIF input with analog stereo RCA output. As is, you can't connect headphones, but it should work if you use a dual RCA male to 3.5mm TRS female Y-adapter like the Hosa Technology Stereo Mini (3.5mm) Female to 2 RCA Male Y-Cable (B&H # HOYCSMF2RM).

Q: 6. can this be used with an XLR mic going into an audio interface, such as a Focusrite Scarlett?

A: Yes, while the Focusrite family can accept a wide range of microphone input voltages, this device can provide additional attenuation. If the microphone is being over-driven in a particular sound field, this will not cure that problem. It is preferred that high attenuation not be introduced on the input side and then amplified back up by the pre-amplifier as the signal to noise ratio will suffer.

Q: 7. would this work well splitting a microphone? Or is it only meant for Line level signals.

A: Yes you can split a microphone using the Sescom SES-XLR-ABC.

Q: 8. Will this adapter fit on a Wista Field DX 4x5 Rosewood camera body without modifications? I'm not sure what constitutes a "Graflock back" so that's why I am asking. Thanks.

A: The Wista Field-45DX Field Camera does have a Graflock back, so this Fotodiox adapter can fit.

Q: 9. Will this fit on a Toyo 45G? I would like to adapt my Canon R6 Mark II to the Toyo 4x5

[1] Our church had to replace its electronic carillon and the feed into the Mackie mixing board was way, way higher than the former one. So what line attenuator should we get? I chose this multi level one so I wouldn’t have to guess and it works perfectly on the highest setting so the trim levels on the mixing board are near their null points and there’s no danger of blowing out a channel with overload. 5

[1] I recently build a Kick-Sub Microphone. In essence, you grab a loose speaker 6-12 and connect an XLR end to it and use it as a microphone for the Kick drum. The issue with doing this is that the signal comes out really strong. This unit is perfect for that as you can dial in your attenuation. It attenuates from 5db, 10db, 20db, 30db, 40db, all the way down to 50db. So, depending on how far I place that mic to the Kick drum, I can adjust the microphone to make sure it doesn't clip. The only thing I will say negative about it is that it is made of plastic. The construction quality doesn't seem great and for the price you would want a metal unit with much tighter tolerances. But I'm not planning to swing it around from the cable and smash things with it, so unless, I'm stepping on it constantly, I'm assuming it should last a long time. 5

[0.18 lb] When recording audio at live events, this is such a time saver. Can accurately and quickly attenuate the line level off the sound board or speaker to the microphone level we need for our portable recorders. 5

[1] Cleans up sound coming from mixer to Black Magic. Very simple to place inline and adjust. Cleans sound up without your having a degree in sound. Very low cost. You can count on B&H to come thru. 5

[0.18 lb] Venue's often have great speakers around the room, but a terrible - or inaccessible mixing desk. So when live-streaming and needing to provide a sound feed for the room, I can hook the output of my PA desk into a handy mic socket at the front of the room, pick an appropriate attenuation, and not have to carry speakers and amps around with me. 5

[1x Pad Knob] The Sescom 6-Position variable inline attenuators are a requiremet for any SoundFX recordist attempting to record extremely high SPL sounds. The variable adjustments allow you the option to attentuate the signal prior to your preamps. These are my go to for gun, rocket and plane recordings. 5

[1x Pad Knob] Using this to step down hot signals when I patch into an existing sound system. The variable attenuation offers me the flexibility to be ready for anything. The only thing I would change is to make the knob smaller so its easier to fit in my kit. 5
