Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with dslr cameras? Does it need phantom power? Thanks

A: This is powered by the smart phone. It is not compatible with DSLR cameras. It is compatible with Mobile Phones or Tablets only.

Q: 2. Does the included software allow for fine mic volume adjustments, and does it have any noise suppression features?

A: The Shure MV7+ Podcast XLR/USB Microphone (Black), BH # SHMV7PK, features a real-time Denoiser with cutting-edge DSP technology eliminating ambient noise in your room. It complements the mic's Voice Isolation Technology to ensure you sound great, even in imperfect recording conditions. The MOTIV Mix App integration features the MOTIV Mix software which is the key to unlock powerful onboard DSP features in every MV7+ when using the USB-C output. Q: 3. Would this work with a digital voice recorder? (i.e. Olympus WS-822?) Thanks!

A: No. It is compatible with mobile phones or tablets that offer a 1/8 TRRS Connector

Q: 4. Does this come with everything you need except the speaker?

A: Yes, although you may wish to connect it to a mixer before outputting to a speaker for greater output control.

Q: 5. Does it work with ipad 2?

Q: 6. I need to have a 3.5 mm connection (to a camera). What cable/adapter do I need?

A: While it is possible to connect this mic to the 3.5mm input on a camera with this cable, BH #KOXRSM06B, the preamp of the camera would not do a great job of amplifying the signal and could introduction unwanted noise into the recording. We would recommend using a mixer/ recorder in between the mic and camera to give you a stronger mic preamp for a cleaner signal into the camera. Here's a recommendation, BH# TADR60DMKIIK.

Q: 7. Will this microphone work when connected to a iPhone with a lightning connector using the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter?

A: Yes, it will. Please note, this setup would be meant for recording audio to a video or voice memo only.

Q: 8. Is this mic compatible with the DJI Mic 2 transmitters?

A: The Shure MOTIV MVL Omnidirectional Lavalier Microphone for Smartphones has a TRRS connector for use with smartphones. It would not be compatible with a wireless transmitter such as the DJI Mic 2.

Q: 9. Can you use this mic only with the Shure app? Will it work with a video recording app to have synced audio and video?

A: This will work with any app that records audio. That includes apps that record video. This will defeat the mobile devices built-on microphone.

Q: 10. Can I use this on a RØDE Wireless Go?

A: Not directly. You would need to use this with an additional adapter to make it compatible with the Go, that adapter is B&H # ROSC3.

[40 Hz to 20 kHz] This is a five star mic, Shure slaps their name on the mic clip because they are proud of this product - and they should be! Listening with studio quality monitors (Shure branded ironically), this tiny little mic can has the same frequency range as my Rode NTG-3. In some cases, it actually sounds better because of proximity. Absolutely pleased with the quality! I also use the Sanken Cos-11d and can testify that that mic sounds a bit thinner in my opinion. Shure knocked it out of the park with this one!

[0.4 oz / 12.5 g] I bought this mic to use when recording personal histories to CD. It's small, easy to attach, and has excellent sound quality$The omni directional pick-up pattern insures that the talent will sound great even if they turn their head when speaking as untrained people are apt to do.

[530 µA, Maximum] I got this Lav to use with my Zoom H4n and it sounds great. Really picks up sound. So much that I have to turn the recording level down from the previous mic I was using. This is great as it gives me more range to work with.

[ABS] I have 5 of these. I have recommended them to other performers. I use them on my banjos. The are incredible, I use a tywrap and fix it to a tension hook on the outside of the banjo facing down into a sound hole. It has a great sound, I have used it for years, from a small pa, to onstage for a large audience. It always performs well. I have also used it for recording along with the front mic. With Banjo, when you move off axis it changes the tone, but with this, mic, you have no problem with that. The sound is always consistant. Well Done Shure.

[ABS] This is a great wired lavalier mic. It has great sound and comes with several connection clips and wind screens. I highly recommend this mike for interviews and just about any application where your subject is not in a lot of motion.

[0.1" / 1.6 mm] I've used a lot of lav mics, from the $25 range to the $250 range. I got this mic in a package with some other equipment, and have been blown away at its professional sound. The signal-to-noise ratio is awesome, the sound is clear and the design is rugged. The only downside is that the mic itself is fairly large, and doesn't hide as well when clipped to the talent.

[0.1" / 1.6 mm] Exactly what the description said it would be. It's about twice the size of an ECM-50, but it has excellent sound quality for lower level productions. Seems fairly rugged and requires no batteries. Use it for church shoots.
