Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What's the difference between this and the 420B Combi-Stand?

A: The 420B includes the sandbag and the 420NSB does not come with the sandbag. You would need a sandbag to act as a counter weight when extending the boom arm.

Q: 2. Will this hold an aputure 120/300d and light dome 2?

A: It will manage to hold an apurture of 120 at half the length of the boom

Q: 3. Is this safe and quiet enough (no squeaks rendering the shockmount useless) to use on suspended large condenser mics?

A: The photos show dynamic, lighter microphones, which is a good indication of the appropriate use of these quick-release devices. A red safety collar indicates when the quick release isn't fully engaged. Typically used in performance/stage environments where fast turnover needed.

Q: 4. Does this microphone boom stand come with an XLR cable?

A: No, the Shure Deluxe Articulating Desktop Microphone Boom Stand does not include an XLR cable.

Q: 5. How long can this boom extend horizontally? Can this boom take more then 3.3 lb of weight at the end for a light without bending the boom?

A: I have this boom and need to replace the arm because it has bent from too much weight. The arm is aluminum and will bend if overloaded and extended. I had an Elinchrom moonlight and soft-box, probably about 4-5 lbs.

Q: 6. Can this boom pole stand hold a DSLR and lens for a flat-lay filming as well? Thanks!

A: The Manfrotto 208 3/8" Head Mounting Plate with Lock Screws B&H # MA208 can be inserted at the end of the boom in place of the included stud. This plate can then accept a ball head such as the Manfrotto 496RC2 Compact Ball Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate B&H # MA496RC2 to hold your DSLR. https://bhpho.to/2qzA4xA https://bhpho.to/2QuMfg0

Q: 7. Will this hold an Einstein strobe and beauty dish?

A: Yes. But you will need a counterweight sandbag.

Q: 8. How well would this fair with a Profoto B10 Plus with an RFI 1X3 Strip box?

A: At max extension this boom is rated for less than 2 lbs. It would not be suitable. The larger Avenger would be able to do it at a partial but not full extension. https://bhpho.to/3bH4yo9

Q: 9. Is this stand collapsible? Does it come with a bag to transport it?

A: Yes, the stand is collapsible to 53.8". It does not included a bag for transporting it. You could use the Ultimate Support Bag-99D Heavy-Duty Padded Tote Bag - for Two TS-99 or TS-88 Speaker Stands (B&H # ULBAG99D) which has interior dimensions of 14.5 x 60.5". That should give you enough space for the wheels and cables too.

Q: 10. Compared to the 420B, apart from lacking a sandbag, is this also a less robust stand? I notice the maximum load is lower for the 420SNB.

A: The Manfrotto 420B, B&H # MA420B and the 420NSB are the same stand, with the latter not including the empty sandbag.

[Tripod] Sturdy and all locks work well. Heavy plate with anti vibration rubber on bottom.

[Twist Clutch] Very lightweight compared to other mic stands I’ve used. But still quite stable. I take this on video shoots for interviews. Setup is easy and the stand is reliable.

[Twist Clutch] This stand provides support for my MXL BCD-1 Microphone, and it does it in style. The base provides solid support, without taking too much space, the keeper holds the mic cord in place, and the height is easy to adjust.

It does exactly what a mic stand should do, and the price is right!

[Tripod] I now own 2 of these media tray / stands. They work perfect! The legs are well balanced and holds the tray very sturdy. I use my second one at home as a portable desk (for standing or sitting while working... it's so awesome!). I seriously wish I thought of this idea years ago. My friend purchased this version with smaller legs (which goes lower to the ground, but is less stable... and has a smaller footprint). I have have had the luxury of trying out both versions. I much prefer the heavy duty version, as I like to rest my arms on it when sitting, for extra stability. You will not regret purchasing this Gator Media Tray. It's funny how purchasing a small useful item in life can have such a big impact on the positivity and productivity of your day! ...you're welcome!

[Twist Clutch] I would recommend this stand be included with all podcast bundles. The ones that came with my bundle were not steady. This one does the job!

[Tripod] This stand is the 4th best investment I've ever made. The only thing I have as concern is the fact that I don't have another job so I could buy this once more. I bought one for a Small Advertising Company that I and a Business Partner are raising and it has definitely done what it was made for. It's stable, it's light weight and most importantly, it's in my possession. Definitely recommend it.
