Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could this unit work on the same LAN as a Canon IP100 controller to control one camera while the other controls the others?

A: No, the Canon RC-IP100 Touchscreen PTZ Joystick Controller uses Canon XC protocol, which the SKAARHOJ PTZ Pro V2B with Hall Effect Joystick and Blue Pill Inside is not licensed for.

Q: 2. I'm using RCPv2 with etc-lanc link. With which device can I use RCP PRO 2 to control Sony FX6?

A: Yes, the SKAARHOJ RCP Pro with Blue Pill Inside can control the Sony FX6. List of all controllable devices: https://devices.skaarhoj.com/

Q: 3. The PTZ Optics 30X and 12X cameras aren't specifically listed as compatible but the 20X is. I would think that it's the same commands...can you confirm that the 30X and 12X are compatible?

A: The SKAARHOJ PTZ Pro V2 Camera Controller would be able to communicate with the PTZOptics 12X-NDI Broadcast and Conference Camera and the PTZOptics 30X-NDI Broadcast and Conference Camera via IP.

Q: 4. What are the differences between the version one and this V2 RCP?

A: The SKAARHOJ RCP Pro with Blue Pill Inside offers better components than the version one. The first version has been discontinued.

Q: 5. Will this control a Canon xf605 camera?

A: Yes, the SKAARHOJ PTZ Pro V2B with Hall Effect Joystick and Blue Pill Inside can control the Canon XF-605 using the XC protocol from Canon. This device has a default configuration for this protocol so you should have some control out of the box. The only thing to note is that this is a PTZ controller, and the XF605 is not a PTZ camera. So some of the settings might not be a great fit for this camera. But it will absolutely work. We also recommend the following Canon controller for the Canon XF605. Canon RC-V100 Remote Controller BH #CARCV100

Q: 6. Is this crazy compatible with the new Sony Fr7's?

A: Right now we can only say that Sony's controller options are going to be totally compatible. However, Skaarhoj has Sony device cores that would let it control Sony camera models. Device cores - https://bit.ly/3EvsMlz

Q: 7. Can more than 1 AJA camera be controlled by a single unit?

A: This is able to control multiple cameras. If you see the image on our website it shows buttons to switch between cameras 1 through 5. https://bit.ly/2Z7kECt

Q: 8. Can this unit operate Avipas AV-1081W cameras connected through the RJ45/lan connection? ? Thanks.

A: Based on the protocol specs available, there should be no issues with operating the camera using this controller. However, we highly recommend verifying with the manufacturer on their supported cameras, as oftentimes, with PTZ workflows, there may be some additional aspects to consider.

Q: 9. Is V2 compatible with Canon CRN300 PTZs?

A: Yes, the SKAARHOJ PTZ Pro V2 Camera Controller with Blue Pill is a great panel for Canon CR-N300 control. SKAARHOJ has also created a default configuration that makes it very easy to setup and control Canon cameras.

Q: 10. Is this compatible with marshall cv630-ipw?

A: Yes, Skaarhoj has a beta control core for the Marshall CV620 so the CV630 would also be supported. Marshall CV620 Beta Full VISCA control of Marshall CV620 cameras. Complete VISCA command list is implemented and with specific value ranges (such as Iris, Shutter speeds etc). Control via IP or Serial (via converter). [2.285 lb] The reality is that I need variously sized bags for different jobs/excursions. If it's just to go on a trip, I can slip my little mirrorless in any handbag. If it's for a job where I need a flash, 2 - 3 lenses and a laptop, I have a big camera bag. If I'm traveling or need two flashes or to cart around my 70 - 200, then I'll use my rolling camera bag. If I'm hiking, I'll use a knapsack. But I was missing something to carry a body, a lens, a wallet, a phone, a flash and an iPad in a purse that doesn't scream camera bag. And to be honest, I probably need that at least half the time. This is a gorgeous back, beautifully designed. If it were just a purse, I would love it. I love the thick strap, it's easy on the shoulder. I love the way you can leave the purse open, and the insert lid is attached to the side with velcro so it's heard open too, which means I can reach into the purse with out fumbling around with a flap, which is extremely annoying. It's just a very well thought out, high quality, useful and good looking bag. Five stars. It's not cheap, but it's less expensive than keeping on buying a series of quality bags that you don't feel like using because they are not quite what you wanted. I used to be guilty of that. Now, I just buy the best I can afford, because quality is a pleasure to use and it lasts.

[4.32 W] Recently started doing some VJ work and grabbed this to pair with Resolume Arena software for functions for visuals to the different buttons/knobs/sliders. It works great and its sturdy. The rubber grib on the bottom keeps it in place and there is just enough tension/resistance in the sliders/buttons and knobs to not feel loose or worn out. I also Grew up playing any instrument I could get my hands on but living in an apartment in NYC its not as easy to get away with playing trumpet or some of the louder instruments and I had never used Abelton Live but with this Controller it made it pretty easy to just jump right in.
For the price especially this is a great starter piece or addition to your current set up.

[4.32 W] THE fastest way to shade multicam and it's expandable. I cannot personally stand the joystick-style RCP's, far too coarse and I've seen too many mistakes when the cam counts + + +. This is a lot cleaner and better - and it's universal in terms of camera brand. I can shade multiple brands, PTZ's, etc all on the same controls. Also - they are about to release new functionality to plug a Tangent Ripple into this panel DIRECTLY for 2-dimensional control of L/G/G alongside the iris sliders. Nothing exists like this panel, it's a live-show game changer.

[2.285 lb] I picked the Launchpad X up thinking it would work for several Max4Live instruments designed for the original Launchpad which, sad to say, it wasn't. I decided to keep it, thinking it would be a good supplement to my Ableton Push 1 but I didn't realize that, because of its convenient size, good velocity-sensitive pads, and clear labels that I'd be using it MORE than my Push.

Specifically, when creating at my computer workstation I am used to getting up and walking over to a full-size 88-key controller or standing up to maneuver to my Push. Now, I have a (separately acquired) 25 mini-keys controller and this Launchpad X which I can, owing to long USB cables, bring to me rather than me going to them.

The pads are more sensitive than those on the Push 1 but they are also less prone to false-triggering which means I can play them longer and more consistently.

The clear (and limited) labels on the Launchpad X also mean I spend a lot less time hunting for functions compared to the Push. Switching from Session to Notes view, changing key and scale, and instant access to Ableton's Capture MIDI function have all been unexpected enhancements to my creativity.

Does it replace my Push? No -but it's addressed ways my studio and using my Push have previously slowed my process down.

[2.285 lb] I had previous JBL headphones I loved and received the Live 770NC for Christmas in 2023. They have been my favorite since. The battery life advertised holds true and I would also add that the headphones don't lose battery life sitting unused. I've had them last a month on one charge when I wasn't using them daily.

[4.32 W] I received this unit less than a week ago, but am already truly amazed at the level of integration Skaarhoj has achieved (via unique Device Core config files) with my Panasonic PTZ cameras. The out of the box config for Pana AW-HEx models is great, but user can enter web interface (using great Kasper Skaarhoj demo videos) to change button labels, edit/add functions and customize, if desired.

I know of no other controller for my cameras that has ALL these forms of controL: 1- PTZ Speed Control (while manipulating joystick), 2- PTZ Preset Speed (movement rate between presets), 3- Cruise Control which allows you start a slow zoom or pan movement with user-defined duration then go hands free and perform slow dissolves in/out of cruising shot. I plan to use feature #3 often.

My kudos go out to the Skaarhoj team in Copenhagen!

[2.285 lb] PTZ camera operation can be really clunky with a computer and mouse only, but this controller makes it a much more enjoyable experience. Set up is a bit technical, and the dashboard isn't user-friendly at all, but once we started figuring what was where, it wasn't too terribly difficult to settle into a groove. If you're in the market for a good controller for your PTZ system, this is a great place to start.
