A: I have the Manfrotto 057 Carbon 3 Section tripod. The specs on it say it supports up to 40 lbs (18 kg)but the heaviest lens, camera, collar combo I use on it is about 6 lbs (2.7 kg). It looks like overkill but I don't have to use any added weight to stabilize tripod, and can shoot at odd angles without worrying about it tipping over. However it is quite expensive.So for your 4 kg rig I'd say it would be more than enough. However I'd suggest you look for a somewhat less heavy duty tripod, and less expensive. Maybe aluminum instead of carbon.

A: Yes, you could use it on a bean bag, also with just the quick release. I use mine for my Ziess 85 spotting scope with or without camera attachment. Normally I'm shooting with my 5D MK II attached to a Zeiss DSLR adapter on a heavy transit tripod. Works very well for my needs & yes I do recommend this . Also works very well with my 100400 L zoom & 5D II DSLR.Hope this helps.larry

A: It will likely fit but I'm not sure that it will be functional.. Why would you want to use this on such a small tripod ? What type lens and camera body are you going to use ? Note , this item locks only in the vertical position and not hor. ?????

A: Gail,I'm not familiar with the equipment types you mentioned. I use the lens support system with the quick release plate provided. I'm completely happy with the mount and support system paired with my Manfroto aluminim tripod when using my 500mm lens. It is very stable when locked down, tracks birds and wildlife when loosened. Q: 9. I have the manfrotto heavy lens support which I use on a mangrotto tripod (Canon 7dii with 100-400 lens and 1.4 or 2.0 extender.). It's great for birds in flight and panning but if I'm trying to shoot something that is or becomes stationary it's frustrating that I can't lock down the pivoting. Every time I touch the camera I lose my position. Am I missing something? Is there a way to secure your position if desired?

A: I used it with a Pentax K3 and the 150-450mm zoom to shoot the recent eclipse. It never moved a mm after I prebalanced it and set the side tension. Check your side tension assembly against the parts diagram, maybe youre missing a washer.
