Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What are the max size drives this can handle?

A: There is no drive size limit.

Q: 2. Can I use the Ethernet port on this unit like a server (similar to NAS)? I'm thinking to have this connected to our Ethernet switch so that people in our building can review what I will be working on without needing my supervision or having to come to my workstation. Is this possible?

A: This unit only supports a Thunderbolt 3 type connection. It also would not support any ethernet connection via an adapter as it lacks the necessary drivers to do so.

Q: 3. Is this a 10 bay or a 12 bay? The description says both (photo shows 12). Confusing listing. Also, what is the largest hard drive supported? 12tb?

A: This Rackmountable Chassis would have 12 bays.

Q: 4. Are the fans that come in this chassis loud? Looking to use this in a video recording space and cannot afford to have a system with loud fan noise.

A: The fan should be fairly quiet, keep in mind this is designed to be used in a AC cooled server room so its not the quietest out there.

Q: 5. Does this include a power supply?

A: The iStarUSA D410 does not include a power supply.

Q: 6. how long is this chassis from front to back.

A: The dimensions for this chassis are 19" wide by 7" tall by 27.9" deep.

Q: 7. Dose it come with power supplay?

A: The iStarUSA D410-DE6BK 4U 10-Bay chassis does not include a power supply.

Q: 8. Hi, is the power cord easy to swap? Not sealed in? Thanks.

A: It uses a standard C13 IEC Female plug cable.

Q: 9. What is the max cpu cooler height?

A: iStarUSA has not provided a spec for the maximum CPU cooler height, but the overall dimensions of the chassis are 19 x 7 x 25" / 482.6 x 177.8 x 635 mm.

Q: 10. Does this come with rails? If not is there a rail kit part number?

A: No, there is no rail kit included with this iStarUSA 4 RU 12-Bay Stylish Storage Server Trayless Hotswap 12 x 3.5" Rackmountable Chassis Kit (Silver HDD Handles). There are a few options for rails: B&H # ISTCRAIL20 B&H # ISTCRAIL24 B&H # ISTCRAIL26

[7x Low-Profile] When I was looking at this item, I couldn't find a review, so, I thought I would write one. The Server rack was delivered on a pallet, well boxed. The only assembly required was adding the wheels and levelers. The rack is very well constructed. Was easy to add systems as all doors and side panels come off. It came with a full set of server screws/nuts, 3 sets of keys, the back door does have six fans installed. The sound insulation is pre-installed on both sides and back. My setup includes a fully loaded Dell PowerEdge 2950 III, a Dell PowerVault MD1000 (with all 15 drives installed), a UPS, and a Switch. I originally had this in a standard 24u Compaq rack with metal screen front/back doors. It was so loud, you could hear it all over the house and all family members complained (and I could NOT stand to work in my home office). I finally put it offline when I ordered this rack for sanity's sake. Rack arrived yesterday (about 2 weeks ship time total). In this cabinet, I set it all up, and brought it it all online. I was VERY impressed with the LOW noise level. Family came home, no one noticed until they saw shares were back online and backups were running. No one heard a thing. Is it completely silent? No. Is it very quiet? Yes. Now I have no problem working in my office, having meetings on my speaker phone (no issues for me or people on the other end, I asked).

[10x 5.25"] I did an AMD 5600 build at work and liked it so much I had to do it at home with my 7700x. You can only get 4x 3.5 HDD drives with an mATX board so if you want 7 then plan on using ITX. I am putting this at the top of my Echogear U20 because it is the perfect depth for the top slots that don't let the chassis slide out the back since there are support brackets at the back of the top slots. Everything seems to fit together perfectly, no complaints. Most compact function system I own here or in the office

[10x 5.25"] I bought this case to move an existing NAS from an ITX tower into a rack mountable case. I had (5) 3.5 drives to mount. I found a (3) 3.5 to (2) 5.25 bay adapter with matching hexagon venting (the black isn't a perfect match, but good enough for a rack) and was able to add another 80mm fan. I thought I would only be able to fit one drive on top of each of the 3.5 cages making this adapter necessary. With an ITX board I was able to fit two drives in each of the 3.5 bays. The drive bay adapter brings the total capacity up to (7) 3.5 drives which seems insane for a short depth 2U case.

I already had a SFX power supply with an SFX to ATX adapter which allowed for some extra room. A 24-pin extension was necessary to reach the motherboard. I don't think this would be an issue with a standard ATX power supply.

It definitely feels like a cheap case. For the price I'm not complaining at all. My only gripe is I wasn't able to find rails that were compatible with my shorter depth rack (Tripp Lite SWR15US). I overcame this by mounting a shelf on the rear posts of my rack to support the back of the case which makes getting this in and out of the rack much easier.

Overall a great case. I couldn't find anything else able to support (5) 3.5 drives in a short depth 2U chassis for even double the price.

[27.5 x 23 x 11"] This case is deeper than other options. It has a mid-case fan array, plenty of space to accommodate hot swap drive cages without crowding the power supply or motherboard and an adjustable expansion card support system. It fits my ATX MSI motherboard perfectly. The washable front door filters work great to keep dust out. Standard 26 rail kits fit well. Very happy and plan on using this case forever.
