Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a sony a6000 and a Metz 44 Af-1 flash. Will the Cactus v6 IIs work with the Metz 44AF-1?

A: As long as the Metz 44 AF-1 you have is for Sony Multi-Interface shoe cameras you should be fine.

Q: 2. I want connect mg a6300 to a youngnuo 568 flash (for canon) with cactus v6iis . will convert sony p-ttl to canon e-ttl?

A: High-speed sync only now. They have announced a firmware update coming soon for Sigma, Sony and Fujifilm cameras that will the camera's TTL profiles. Then they will release upgrades for Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Panasonic and Pentax one at a time. So your a6300 should be in line for the first upgrade to the Cactus V6ii.

Q: 3. So in essence, with the right breakout cables (QSFP28 to 4 x SFP28) the switch can support 24 (4x4 + 8) SFP28 ports?

A: The QNAP QSW-M7308R-4X 12-Port 100G QSFP28 / 25G SFP28 Managed Network Switch, B&H # QNQSWM7308R4, does not support breakout cables.

Q: 4. Will this directly control a Sony F43M Flash (w/o a transceiver on the flash)? Or will I need a transceiver for both the camera and flash?

A: You would need two of the V6 II units in order to trigger your flash. One unit would act as the transmitter on top of your camera while the other fits on the bottom of your flash as a receiver.

Q: 5. My camera is a sony a7 mark 3 and the flash I would be using is a Nikon sb 910. If I mount my nikon flash on the camera hot shoe while using the cactus v6 iis, will the ttl in the flash unit function?

A: You will not be able to get Nikon TTL from a Sony camera via this controller.

Q: 6. Is port bonding supported on Mac?

A: Yes, Mac computers do support port bonding, which is ideal for the Sonnet Twin25G Thunderbolt Dual-Port 25Gb Ethernet Adapter.

Q: 7. Do you carry the other Nvidia ConnectX-6 and ConnectX-5 SKUs?

A: Currently, the HP NVIDIA Mellanox ConnectX-6 Lx Dual-Port 25G SFP28 Network Interface Card is the only model we carry in that line of cards.

Q: 8. Can I use different flash brands together with this transceiver? Like Canon and Sony flashes at the same time?

A: Yes. Each unit in receiver mode can have different brand flashes attached. Do note that if you use TTL passthrough for a flash on the transmitter mode unit on the camera, the flash must match the camera. The receiver mode units cannot do TTL at all, just manual (controlled from the unit acting as the transmitter). Also, since Sony uses non-standard hotshoes, you must use a V6 II for the Canon flash and a V6 IIs for the Sony flash. They will still communicate fine.

Q: 9. Can you use this to trigger monolights?

A: I tryed to trigger my profoto b1 and d1, with very poor inconsistent results, and ttl did not work at all with my fuji x-t2

Q: 10. I shoot with a Sony A7II & Sony Flash, if I have 2 of these transceivers one for the hot shoe & one for the flash will I be able to use the Cactus Wireless Remote to activate the shutter that plugs into the side of the camera? I want to overexpose windows & sliders by overexposing with a flash for window pulls in Ps. I shoot some large homes on the water with lots of windows & ocean views & need a wireless remote so I don't have to keep going back to the camera & set a 5 sec timer then run to the next window or slider.

A: I have exact same use-case, but with an A77Ii. You can set the camera mounted unit into 'relay' mode, and use it to trip shutter release via the remote unit. No separate additional remote needed. I just have 3 of these triggers.

[25 Gb/s] Really, there's not much you can say other than I plugged each into an SFP port and they work absolutely perfectly.

These are especially useful in a situation like mine where one end is a media converter and the other is a Ubiquiti router with an SFP port (EdgeRouter 4.)

It works as you would expect with no discernible speed penalty compared to just a straight Gigabit Ethernet cable.

I installed mine to provide galvanic isolation between my cable modem and my home network so I need not worry about lightning strikes on my coaxial cable.

Highly recommended and you cannot beat the price.

[SFP28] The installation went smoothly, the software has worked as expected, and I hope to see if it performs at the rated capacity. So far, so good.

[25 Gb/s] We pulled it through 3/4 conduit and it worked out great. We used a mesh so that the ends wouldnt have any tension when we pulled. We ended up connecting two of these in a dry location with couplers. Still working fine after a year.

[25 Gb/s] For Tactical fiber cables, these are ultra light weight, but they do take a beating! Great Cables!

[1x LC] I purchased the XG24 direct from Ubiquiti in 2022. It's been solid since its install. All 24 copper ports support 100M/1G/2.5G/5G/10G so it makes a great core switch or server switch. I'm using mine as a connection point for 2 10G NASs and to feed network connectivity to UPSs.

Under normal load it's a slight bit noisier than the USW-Agg Pro and runs a bit warmer. Neither the noise or heat has been an issue for me in a home office. However if the fans spool up, you'll certainly notice. Granted noise isn't normally a prime concern with a switch of this type.

Overall for my use case I'm very happy and can recommend. If you need more than 4 ports of multi-gig and are tied into the Unifi system the XG24 is a good investment.

[1x LC] We use this to get audio/video to the front and back of large conference rooms, works great. The cable is only as thick as a single regular XLR cable.
