[5' / 1.5 m] I have always constructed my PCs according to what my requirements are. Over the years I had accumulated a number of old drives that I could not bring myself to throw away. I also spend a fair bit of time removing or fitting hard disk drives to meet particular requirements. I receive 'Custom PC' monthly and last month's issue contained mention of a device that would enable access to data on older IDE HDDs through the USB3 ports on newer PCs (also handling newer SATA drives as well). This adapter from Startech has, at a stroke, removed much of the hassle and fiddle when trying to utilise data from an older HDD on a newer PC. Thank you Startech a long awaited tool for all PC builders and - dare I say 'Nerds'. Great bit of kit that will see a lot of use in the future. 5

[5' / 1.5 m] Before I got this cable I was having serious problems with USB 3, to the point where rolling back to USB 2 was more productive (my computing is a bit older, but still IT pro level). This StarTech cable gave me a solid bus connection and made all the difference. The construction and materials are high quality and as soon as I started using it I knew I'd started to pull a painful thorn out of my side. By comparing, I was able to weed out and replace the inadequate cables infesting my setup (all of which were supplied by the makers of the USB-3 gear!). The higher-end StarTech cables are well worth any reasonable cost premium, and at B&H it's usually not that much anyway. Do I sound like an ad? Fine. That's how much frustration and time this purchase has saved me. 5

[5' / 1.5 m] Old hard drives laying around in storage because you are afraid to take them to the dump? This tool is perfect for looking at those old hard drives and getting them wiped. USB 3 interface is excellent. Just ensure the hard drive is spun up to full speed before plugging into the USB port, and you'll see your hard drive appear. 5
