The GT2R Tomahawk V2 Gimbal Head for Ball Heads - Redfrom GT2R Tomahawk V2 Gimbal Head for Ball Heads - Redattaches to Arca-type ball heads and holds a telephoto lens, providing gimbal movement for the lens. It has two built-in Arca-type dovetails at the base for attaching it to ball heads and has an Arca-type clamp with a quick release plate on top. Long telephoto lenses can be attached via a native Arca-type tripod foot or attached quick release plate.

Between the tilt adjustment of the Arca-type clamp and the movement of the ball head, the setup will provide a full tilt and swivel range of movement. There are knobs to loosen and tighten movement, and a bubble level for checking balance. The bottom and side of the base also feature 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads in addition to the built-in dovetails. These allow the GT2 to be mounted on tripods, monopods, and other supports. Q: 3. I currently have a Benro A2580F tripod with a manfrotto pan/tilt head. I shoot birds with a D7200 and a Tamron 150-600mm lens. I want to get the Wimberley Arca Sidekick Gimbal but need recommendation for a ball head. Looking for best performance-to-value ball head?

Q: 4. Can I add the sidekick to a Mefoto globetrotter and if so what other items do I need to purchase to make it functional? Thanks...

A: If your lens has a lens collar or tripod mount, then yes, the Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapter and the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod would be compatible for your usage needs. The Wimberley Arca Sidekick Ball to Gimbal Head Adapte connects directly to the Arca-type clamp on the ball head on the top of the MeFOTO GlobeTrotter Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod. No other accessory is needed; you simply remove the quick release plate included with the tripod's ball head and conect the Wimberlay Gimbal Head Adapter. You would place the ball head at the 90° vertical shooting positon to mount the Wimberly Gimbal Head Adapter, and you would then have freedom of movement with your camera/lens combination mounted on the above tripod/gimbal head combination.

[Gimbal Head] Not only is this well made and smooth, it is extremely versatile. It is the best monopod head made in my opinion, and it can be put on a ballhead and used on a tripod as a panning side-mount gimbal. Love it.

[1.56 lb] Good quality build with large ergonomic knobs. Good match of course for the StarTraker Pro mount.

I originally used a SmallRig head with the SkyTracker, but the paddle style knobs interfered with the mount. This head eliminates that issue.

[Gimbal Head] When you lock this mount down, it stays secure. The mounting plate above the ball gives you options. The ball head can be used with a tracker in more than one configuration. The locking knobs are big and very sturdy. A good purchase.

[1.56 lb] I bought this specifically for the iOptron Sky Tracker. It seems very well made- the knobs are firm and everything tightens down the way you would expect

[10.8 x 5 x 3.1"] I need to reduce weight for travel so this is the perfect compromise to full Gimbal Head If I need full Gimbal motion and I don't have a ballhead, I attach this to an RRS Pan Head with a clamp

[10.8 x 5 x 3.1"] Much smaller than my other Gimbal head. Much better to haul around with me. I have it mounted to my Pro Media Gear monopod. They work great together and weigh next to nothing. Great when hauling around pro body cameras with large aperture telephoto super telephoto lenses attached.

[1.56 lb] My english is not very good but about my tomahawkGT2 it is expensif for me because i live in Canada ( quebec ) but it is so well made and expertly machined whit sharp tension adjustement it worth the price I use as side wall mont on my monopod that is a perfect match I realy enjoy my new attachement combine with my ball head..By the way it's nice to have a free expedited shipping...

[1.56 lb] I have been using the Tomahawk GT2 on a monopod and I have to say, it's brilliant. I was expecting the off-axis position of the camera to be an issue but it's not. The tension controls give me a lot of control and the side mount takes off more than half a kilogram compared to the Katana Jr (also a brilliant piece of kit). The side mount actually makes this setup with a monopod, pro body and large telephoto lens very easy to carry over my shoulder while hiking longer distances. Everything is silky smooth and a pleasure to shoot with. I'm very pleased with my investment.
