IF you decided it was best used on the outside, I'd personally find something like foam wrap for pipes or even glue some old bicycle inner rube around the metal edge and then use some green painters Masking tape for a non permanent non sticky residue way to hold the rubber edge to the door. I don't think I'd drive around with the Eagle on the outside of my vehicle. Dust and road grime aren't good for bearings.
