Get better sound from your tube microphone with the MP1RC Power Supply with Polar-Pattern Control from Grimm Audio. Whether its a vintage or contemporary model, the MP1RC will help you get the best possible sonic performance from your investment. The engineers at Grimm have leveraged their extensive experience designing the AD1 converter and CC1 master clock to ensure this boutique power supply takes your microphone to it's full potential. This RC version includes a large dial that lets you adjust the polar pattern on compatible microphones.

Even if the power supply on your vintage microphone is still functioning, the MP1RC's stable power and exceptionally low noise floor can give you significantly improved sonic results; and voltage settings are customized at the factory for optimal performance with your microphone model. The unit offers discrete voltage regulators, a shunt regulator for the anode supply, and a high-precision series one for the filament supply. The anode supply offers a noise floor as low as -100 dBV, which, on average, is 20 dB better than existing supplies, while the shunt design turns the regulator into an active decoupling device, eliminating electrolytics.

The MP1RC includes a detachable foot and multipin XLR cable that you can attach to your existing microphone cable.

  • In many classic mics, the heater voltage is also used to bias the grid of the amplifying tube in the microphone, implicating an open gateway from the heater supply to the sensitive input of the mic’s amplifying stage. Grimm therefore chose to design a clean and ultralow-noise discrete voltage regulator for the heater supply as well. It features very low drift to ensure the heater voltage always remains within specs.
  • The MP1RC features a specially designed discrete shunt high-voltage regulator fed from a current source to maximize suppression from mains-induced anomalies. It also offers very low noise (typically -96 dBV or 16 uV at 20 to 20,000 Hz unweighted). More importantly, this shunt supply sounds more natural than the more commonly used modern series regulators, due to the absence of electrolytic capacitors at the output.
  • Both the high-voltage and the heater supplies have an extra crowbar protection circuit that will switch on in case one of the supplies breaks down. This is an extra line of defense to protect the valuable tube in your microphone.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Could I use this unit directly in between Sennheiser MKH416 mic and Sennheiser G3 Plug-on transmitter to transmit audio?

A: Yes, it is possible to use the Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply to connect a Sennheiser MKH 416 Shotgun Microphone to a Sennheiser SKP 100 G3 Plug-On Wireless Transmitter.

Q: 2. Can you mount two of these to the Advanced Ring Grip for RS2?

A: Yes, in terms of available space, you can certainly mount two of these to the Advanced Ring Grip.

Q: 3. Is there an off and on switch on this power supply?

A: No, there is no on off switch on this power supply.

Q: 4. Could I use this to power my Rode NTG1 and output to a XLR to 3.5mm adapter cable to input into a Canon 90D?

A: Yes, the Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply with Rechargeable Battery can be used to provide phantom power to the Rode NTG1 Shotgun Microphone, and its output signal can be adapted for a 3.5mm input connection to a DSLR camera.

Q: 5. Does the power supply accept 240V AC?

A: The included power supply for the Sony C-800G Studio Tube Condenser Microphone that we sell operates at 120V AC. You can use a step-down transformer to convert the voltage coming from a 240V AC power outlet to 120V AC.

Q: 6. What are the connections needed to recharge? I'm hoping it is usb-c?

A: The USB port on the Xvive P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply is micro-USB Type-B. There is a USB cable included which is micro-USB Type-B to Type-A. The USB port can be used for charging the internal battery as well as for powering the P1.

Q: 7. Whether the output can be directly inserted into the camera Mic jack to shoot video?

A: The output of this portable phantom power pack can be connected to any mic level audio input with an XLR connector, including cameras, interfaces, and audio recorders.

Q: 8. hi, when using shotgun mic like MKE 600 or MKH 416 does it still need XLR cable to connect to P1 or you can just plug directly?

A: Plugging a microphone directly into an XLR input jack is never recommended. Remember that, by the principle of leverage, the force exerted on the connector will be proportional to the length of the mic. You can very quickly end up damaging the pins, or even the jack itself, and when phantom power is involved you also risk a short circuit if this happens. Always use a cable, even if it is a very short cable with low-profile connectors.

Q: 9. Is this a 110 ohm cable thatI can use for my GRIMM MU 1 AEB out to DAC/preamp ?

A: The Grimm Audio Stereo Pair of Audio Cables with XLR Connectors (6.56'), BH # GRSQM2X, is not impedance rated.

Q: 10. is this device can power 12t microphone?

A: The Xvive Audio P1 Portable Phantom Power Supply with Rechargeable Battery supplies 12 or 48V of phantom power, but does not supply 12V of T power. Although phantom power will not generally damage a T-powered microphone, they use different circuitry and T-power microphones cannot be properly used with phantom power supplies. [210 VDC] Works as advertised and only takes up one spot (as the name implies). I'd definitely buy another if I needed one.

[210 VDC] This couldn't be any quicker or simpler to install, regardless of pedalboard you're using. I've used it with a Pedal Train and Holey Board and it's very simple to use, particularly if you're using a brick-type power supply and need a few more leads.

[210 VDC] This is a fantastic solution to powering a mic. I use a Sennheiser MKE600 and although it can be powered via AA batteries, I don't trust that they'll last an entire day of shooting, nor is there a way to monitor the power level at a glance. This solves all of that. Clear power indicator lights, all-day battery, and it's rechargeable.
As other reviewers have stated, my only wish is that it had a 1/4-20 threaded hole so I could mount it to my camera. I made it work using hi-strength velcro and a rubber gear-tie from Lowes but it would really be perfect if it had a threaded mount.
Overall still very satisfied, and I got it used for about $30 bucks. So this solves your mic power for about the price of two packs of AA's.

[1] We need some way to supply phantom power to a condenser microphone feeding into a Sennheiser wireless transmitter. This proved to be the perfect solution. Its construction is first class and it works flawlessly. We're so thankful we were alerted to this product and highly recommend it.

[20 W] I love the microphone. It has the heavy feel of quality, it comes with a beautiful black velvet lined wooden box, and the sound is great. It has a warm sound quality with a well controlled high end response - not at all harsh or overly sibilant - very silky smooth on the high end and a warm low end response, even from a couple of feet away in cardioid pattern. However, there were a couple of minor quality control issues with the microphone. When I got it, the pattern select switch would not go into the Omni pattern, because the mic electronics cover was rotated, and tightened down, so that the switch would bump into the pattern switch cutout before it would go all the way into the omni - directional pattern. This was an easy and obvious fix, however, it should not have come from the factory like this. Also, the screw that locks the shock mount from rotating up and down, would not lock it. The reason was that there was some plastic flashing from the screw knob, molded into some of the threads of the locking screw, preventing it from tightening all the way. The fix required carefully removing the plastic from the threads. This, again, should not have come from the factory like this. But, when you consider the general quality and price of the microphone, these are. really, minor issues.

[210 VDC] I've purchased these before, for guitar pedals, but also as a power source for a small project. This instance was no exception... they're good power-supplies.

[1] I have two of these powering different sets of pedals: one for guitar rig, and one for keyboard rig. They're the one thing in my rigs that I never have to worry about. Completely hassle-free, noiseless power. I wish they made one for larger Line6 multi-effects units, like the HD500.

[20 W] THE vocal sound of popular music for the past 3 decades came from this mic. You can achieve great results with other mics. But this is a modern studio staple.
