Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. only black color?and only Dec BracketPolar Scope Illuminator ?

A: The illuminator is a poor design. You need to remove the bracket to use it on the polar scope. With a mount this light (and the non-heavy duty tripod I supposed most people will be using), re-attaching the bracket and camera will require you to do PA again.

Q: 2. If this requires alignment with Polaris, how would you go about aligning it during the day for solar tracking?

A: I use the compass on my iPhone 6. I set the compass to true north . I lay the phone up against the wedge and align. There are several reasons why this shouldn't work, but it does. I have run the equatorial mount for several hours and have only had to make small adjustments. Getting the equatorial mount level is equally important.

Q: 3. can you point me to a telescope to use with this package? thank you

A: Hello. I would recommend a small diameter refractor, such as an Orion. You must consider the weight of the telescope because the capacity of the guider is limited. For heavier scopes, such as the smaller SCTs, I would purchase the 1 kg counterweight. I'm currently using a Canon DSLR with a 200 mm telephoto lens + 1.4x extender and use the counterweight to minimize torsion stress on the guider.

Q: 4. If I have a standard camera tripod and DSLR, can I go straight into photographing the Moon, Orion Nebula, etc., without purchasing *anything* else, or must I also get the counterweight, any kind of wedge, ball head, etc. for it to be a complete setup? I am comparing this to iOptron and need to know what else is required.

A: Using a DSLR should not require you to use a counterweight unless the camera and lens combo approaches the 11 pound threshold. I purchased all of the accessories just in case they were needed I'd have them to use. I only use the counterweight when affixing my ETX to the ball head. Depending on the total weight of the camera and lens, coupled with the stability of the tripod you have, you may want to have some form of counterweight, even if just for the tripod itself, to ensure steady images.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with the EQM-35 Pro mount? Will other adapters be required?

A: The Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Head is not compatible with the EQM-35. This tripod would be recommended instead: https://bhpho.to/2xCHOap

Q: 6. What is the 12V DC power supply compatible with the GTi tracker ?Please provide a link.

A: The Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi can be powered by this Celestron AC adapter: https://bit.ly/48B0P9D

Q: 7. Would I need two ball heads for panorama of the Milky Way arch? My gear I’m using is a Nikon D850 with 14-24 2.8

A: For the Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Head Kit (Head Only), it would be recommended to use 2 ball heads when shooting the Milky Way arch.

Q: 8. What is tripod compatibility (mount type) of Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Head Kit (Head Only)? Is it like Star Adventurer 2i or different?

A: The Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer GTi Head Kit (Head Only) BH #SKSAGTIHK • MFR #S20590 wull mount to any tripod legs with a universal 3/8'-16 stud.

Q: 9. Can this unit be used with film cameras?

A: Yes, really no different than a digital camera but if you have them I'd recommend staying within parameters established for a like focal length and ASA/ISO value just for ballpark exposure.

Q: 10. Does this package include the EQ wedge and counter weight?

A: No this model does not come with the EQ Wedge, and the Counter Weight. They are sold separately.

[0.115 lb] I am using it in a modified pelican case for a wildlife camera trap but seem to be clear.

[Glass] I have been focusing on night photography in the historic district where I live. There are many different kinds of lights in the area which can cause odd coloration to occur during long exposure shots. This filter eliminates this issue resulting in sharp, accurate color. Very much worth its price.

[62 mm] I purchased the Tiffen North Star filter to add that extra little pop to my photos. I was worried about it being too much and overpowering the the photo, but it isn't. It's fun when you catch that little star off of a diamond or gold jewelry or even an eye. The photo shop stars are just that, add ons and are easily picked out. B & H had a far price price and quick delivery!

[0.115 lb] This was extremely helpful to me for a last minute shoot video of some diamond rings for a client. It really added a nice sparkle to highlight the stones in the rings.

[Glass] I bought this filter specifically for astro photography . I am not an expert in the field but the filter works. It removes the orange glow from the street lights and allows for better pictures while maintaining relative colour accuracy. I am using it on sigma 30mm art.
