Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. Will this work on a Sennheiser shotgun mic?
A: Yes but the Sennheiser KA-600 BH #SEKA600 tends to be more popular for that.
Q: 2. can you recommend a longer cable to work with this adapter?
A: For a longer cable run, you may use a standard XLR cable. You may consider B&H # KOM4025 for a 25' extension.
Q: 3. I'm using a shotgun mic with XLR output to record audio on my Canon T4i (mini jack input). I'm using a boom pole to record dialogue, so would it be a better idea to use a cable like this (but longer) to connect the mic with the camera, or to use a cable to connect it to a separate audio recorder like a Zoom H4n?
A: If you have a Zoom, the mic preamps are superiorto the Canon. I would only use the Canon as the principle sound if you needed the smallest rig possible. (Run and gun) otherwise an out board recorder will give you a better quality and real time metering and monitoring. (This is critical) I use a similar setup. You can also use a padded cord to go from line out on the zoom to the Canon. You then have good sound on your camera card as well. This gives you redundancy which can come in handy...
Q: 4. This Beachtek unit has such a better layout than most of Beachteks other models, not to mention its very aesthetically pleasing. Its a little disappointing that they specify this unit as being engineered for one or two cameras in particular. Would this also be usable with a DSLR like the Canon 5Dmk3 or a small video camera like the Canon XC-10? Or are the higher quality components advantages only realized with the Alexa or a RED unit? Thanks in advance
A: It was designed withe ALEXA in mind: Line Out: 5-pin balanced output at +4 dBu.But there is no reason it could not be used with other cameras: Mic Out: 3.5 mm unbalanced auxiliary stereo output
Q: 5. Can i use this headphones with phone?
A: These headphones can be used with a smartphone, because there is a 3.5mm stereo mini connection included, as well as the detachable 1/4 stereo adapter.
Q: 6. if i connect my 100 ohm mic to my dslr 3.5 jack using this transformer, will the recorded sound still have around 100 ohm impedance?
A: This is an impedance matching transformer. It will convert your 100 ohm mic to approx. 2000-3000 ohms to match your cameras mic input. Recorded audio is not measured in impedance, but decibels.
Q: 7. Is this really a transformer, or a simple adapter. If a transformer, what is the ratio?
A: It is a transformer designed to work with DSLRs and consumer grade camcorders. The impedance match specs are not available.
Q: 8. I got this cable with the Senn 600 and when plugged into my Canon 80D it only registers on the LEFT channel, is this because of the cable or because the Senn is a mono mic? Do I need to do something else to have it record bother left and right channels, there are no options on the 80D for that, thanks.
A: The LMT-100 is specifically designed for connection of a mono mic to a camera. Audio should be present on both sides using this cable and should have no issues with the Sennheiser or similar mics. We do however generally recommend the Sennheiser brand cable (KA-600). https://bhpho.to/2gPQ0Wn Please contact a Representative here for additional assistance at 800-606-6969.
Q: 9. I have a shotgun mic without phantom power so how can I use these cables?
A: A shotgun microphone that powers itself/does not require phantom power is a great candidate for connection of the microphone to a 3.5mm input such as those found on DSLR cameras using the Kopul LMT100 Low to High Impedance Matching Transformer.
Q: 10. Will this work with a Canon R5C?
A: Yes. Although the Beachtek DXA-ALEXA Low-Noise Preamplifier is intended for use with the ARRI ALEXA Mini Camera, you can connect the 3.5mm mic output from the DXA-ALEXA to the 3.5mm mic input on the Canon EOS R5 C Mirrorless Cinema Camera to record audio in the camera.
