$8,475.00 $11,695.50

Featuring a retro look inspired by the vintage CM 51/3 mic and top-shelf internals resulting from extensive development, the blue Schoeps V4 U Cardioid Vocal Microphone Blueis a cardioid studio condenser microphone that combines the transparency of small-diaphragm capsule architecture with the narrowed high-frequency polar response of a large-diaphragm mic. The result is a premier transducer that delivers pleasing tonality (on- and off-axis) for sources ranging from vocals to an array of acoustic instruments.

With a priority on clarity and clean sound, the V4 U utilizes a transformerless output stage devoid of coupling capacitors. Extraneous handling noise is reduced by the capsule's internal elastic suspension, and the RFI filter and gapless shielding yield excellent resistance to interference. The capsule head can be tilted ±20 degrees to ensure optimal positioning with ease. The V4 U is compatible with stand clamps and shockmounts (available separately).

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this Sennheiser XS 1 with a mirror less camera?

A: If your camera has an 1/8'' mic input on it, you can use the Kopul XRSM cable (BH #KOXRSM15B) to connect the Sennheiser XS 1 handheld XLR connection microphone to it.

Q: 2. Is there an affordable USB audio interface you'd recommend for using the SM7B to record with a MacBook Pro? Shure recommends at least 60 dB of gain, which means that a lot of USB audio interfaces won't cut it. I'll gladly spring for the mic, but don't want to spend a fortune just to be able to use it.

A: Dont use this mic to record to a computer. Buy a portable Digital Recorder such as the Tascam DR-100MK II and then after recording import the file into your Mac or PC.

Q: 3. To use it in Europe do I need to have 110v to 220v converter?

A: To power the Cloudlifter CL2, all you need is 48v phantom power from your audio interface or mic pre-amp.

Q: 4. What is a CloudLifter?

A: Reggie, a CL-1 Cloudlifter is a mic activator that lets you get the best possible audio. It partners with your preamp in amplifying your mics' signal for clean, transparent recordings. If you have a Shure SM-7B mic, you most likely will need it because this type of mic does not have a strong sound level.

Q: 5. Will this mic work if plugged into an M BOX mini?

A: Yes with a Cloud lifter recommended

Q: 6. whats the best mic pre amp compressor to use ?

A: Preamp and compressor quality and sound is highly subjective. The SM7B seems to require a significant amount of gain for best results. The Grace M101 is a popular choice to pair with the SM7B and provides clean high gain. a href= http://bhpho.to/1wR5Lnf target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1wR5Lnf/a

Q: 7. How much does it weigh?

A: The Shure SM7B weighs 1.69 lbs.

Q: 8. What is the thread size for the included stand clip?

A: The stand clip included with the ND76S is 5/8 . A thread adapter is included for connection to stands with a 3/8 threading.

Q: 9. Can I connect this to a computer? Is it good for recording audio tutorials? I need something simple and affordable.

A: Yes, I am very satisfied with mine.

Q: 10. Does this mic require phantom power?

A: This is a dynamic microphone, so no power is required. The SM7B is known to have a low gain output, so often a gain booster is used with the mic to give you more headroom and to avoid any noise in the signal. When using a gain booster, such as the Coudlifter, phantom power is required to power that unit.

[Phantom Power] It's a beautiful microphone. I bought it because I wanted something clean that I could distort according to my needs in post and this has that flexibility as well as having a standalone beautiful sound.

[Side Address] I already own an mk4, and I wanted to get a second mk4 so I could record a stereo pair for piano and acoustic guitar and it sounds so good. The mk4 I already own, I've had for about 4 years now, and it's my go to mic for everything -- strings, piano, guitar, voice. I have tried many many mics above and below this price point and to my ears, none sound as natural. I rarely need EQ when using schoeps mics. It also matches my other mk4 perfectly. Very happy with the purchase. Also B+H customer service was great and the capsule arrived quickly.

[Blue] I bought this to replace some ancient mics for poetry readings. Solidly built (as expected from Shure) and sound was good and warmer than the vintage mics it replaced. None of the readers or emcee had any issue with the range of pick-up as another reviewer mentioned.

[Cardioid] All my go to microphones for field location audio are first and foremost Schoeps. I have a pair of Schoeps cmc641s and snagged a cmit5u when it was first introduced. I was in the market for adding a second cmit5u and saw that the miniCMIT had just been released. So glad I waited for this newer version. It's size makes it incredibly versatile in tight locations. It's lighter in weight than its big brother (cmit5u) but has the same sonic quality. The only thing you give up on the mini model is some of the filter options. I've used this on multiple shoots and interviews and it is a stellar microphone. The one thing I appreciate most about Schoeps microphones is the overall lack of coloration. Once I'm back in my studio listening to playback I can close my eyes and it's like the talent is sitting there right next to me speaking clear, uncolored, natural audio. That being said there is a lot of buzz about Schoeps microphones being susceptible to humidity causing the mic to motorboat. I have only had this happen once with my cmit5u in an extremely humid interior interview. For that reason I highly recommend you always have on hand a microphone that is impervious to humidity and moisture (Rode NTG-3, Sennheiser MKH 50, Sennheiser MKH 416 or whatever you prefer). But otherwise all my Schoeps have performed well in some very humid environments. If I were headed to the Amazon Rain Forest or somewhere incredibly wet and humid I would leave all my Schoeps at home and go with a sure thing that could endure that much moisture. And yes, there are times I will choose another mic for very specific reasons dictated by the room or the talent's voice, but otherwise I'm swinging a Schoeps on my pole at least 95% of the time. Money well spent.

[Low Cut/HPF] I compared the sound quality of the PGA58 vs the Shure PG48 and the Zoom XYH-5 X/Y Mic capsule by simultaneously recording a baritone singing acapella with the Zoom H5. The PGA58 was clearly superior in the warmth and richness of its sound. Other characteristics were similar. We have used it in church service recordings with good results, including a close-up recording of a piano -- producing more natural sound than the PG48. None of this is surprising and is what you would expect given the product information from Shure and B&H, but its nice to have it confirmed by ear!
