This Novoflex Focusing Rail Arca-Type Dovetail Clampis compatible with any Novoflex bellows system and allows you to finely position the bellows unit for close-up photography applications. Macro lenses with a tripod collar and a longer coupling plate underneath will also benefit from this system.

A: A camera can be mounted directly to the top of this rail.

Q: 2. How does the rail mount to tripod?

A: The bottom of the rail has standard threads for mounting (like any camera) but the entire rail itself is compatible with any arca-type mount and this allows you to move the entire rail back and forth.

Q: 3. What is the diameter of the circular part of this clamp (not including the protruding lever)?

A: As per Novoflex, the diameter would be 3.1 inches.

Q: 4. can I use it with my vanguard GH-11?

A: I'm sorry, that clamp is not compatible with that head.

Q: 5. Would this be a good choice for mounting on Monopod with 10# Camera/Lens combo?

A: The ProMediaGear Arca-Type Clamp for Straps, Holsters, and L-Brackets with Built-In Arca Dovetail does hold 10 lbs easily. It has a smaller 1/4" screw opening in the bottom, so you would need a monopod that has that screw. Most monopods have a 1/4" screw though.

Q: 6. does this come with a plate?

A: No, the Novoflex Q-Base II Arca-Type Compatible Quick Release Clamp does not include a quick release plate with its purchase. You would need to purchase a separate Arca-type quick release plate as a separate optional accessory. We do have options under the "Accessories" tab on our website with compatible plates, such as the Novoflex QPL-1 Arca-Type Quick Release Plate for Q-Base System, 1.7" Long - with 1/4-20" Screw, B&H # NOQPL1, or the Oben QR-20 Quick Release Plate, B&H # OBQR20.

Q: 7. Is this compatible with RRS plates?

A: RRS quick-release plates are only guaranteed to work with RRS QR clamps, but since they are Arca-type and so is the Novoflex Q-Base II Arca-Type Compatible Quick Release Clamp, they should be compatible.

A: The crank can be used on either end of the rail.

A: If you buy or have the Arca Swiss P0 base, this should screw on no problem.

[Black] I've only had this rail for a short time, and therefore limited use, but so far so good. It feels like a quality build. The screw mechanism works smoothly. I really enjoy the compatibility with the swiss arca tripod mount. It quickly slides onto my tripod head, allowing me to position it several inches forward or back. The camera plate attaches quickly as well. For 100 bucks, I think it's good value! 5

[Black] Looks well made, fits snugly into my Acratech ballhead, and works smoothly. I like the adjustment from both ends. Right now I am using it with an Olympus Air for macro-scientific work and it is exactly as required. 5

[Black] I really like the macro focusing rail. It gives me enough travel to move in close to an object without having to move the tripod. Having it slip in and out in an Arca clamp extends that travel. The unit is well made. However, I do wish they had added at set screw to the ratchet handle. I'm afraid I'm going to loose it. 5

[1.12 lb] Very happy with this rail. Have gotten photos in the wild that otherwise I would not have gotten. The flower pic is focus stacked. For stacking I take off the 'extra' handle for spinning. For getting spider or bug that is moving use the extra handle to quickly get subject in focus and fire away. The spinning handle is easily removed which I consider a feature and not a bug. I've mounded my rail on a panning clamp so I can make quick sideways moves with out moving my tripod. 5

[1.12 lb] I bought 2 of these and arranged them so we an precisely adjust camera position when shooting macros of small medical instruments in the studio. They are incredibly well built and very reasonably priced. We have lots of Foba and Arca Swiss accessories and these are every bit just as good for 1/5th the price. I highly recommend Sunwayphoto products. 5
