The Oyen Digital Fortis 5C 40TB USB 3.2 Gen 2 External Drive Arrayis designed to meet the needs of power users with large storage requirements. This Fortis 5C features a storage capacity of 40TB, configured as five 8TB Enterprise HDDs that are preformatted exFAT, which is compatible with Windows, macOS, and Linux. Also featured is all-aluminum construction, a silicone rubber sleeve, a molded handle, and locking trays that allow for on-the-go protection. Airflow is maximized by a 3000 rpm exhaust fan to keep heat away from the internal drives and may be configured for 24/7 operation or intelligent cooling, which activates the fan only when the internal temperature reaches 95°F.

Please note that the Fortis 5C comes pre-configured as a JBOD. If you would like to use the Fortis 5C as a RAID array, you'll need to use a software RAID app, such as Disk Utility (Mac), Storage Spaces (Windows), or SoftRAID (not included).

[30.4 dBA] This hard drive works perfectly, speeds are as advertised, does what it's supposed to! The hard drive housing also allows for daisy chaining to other hard drives with the same housing. I have one more of these so now I can connect the two external HDDs together. A very convenient feature! 5

[156 W] I'm impressed with the price per terabyte for this unit when compared to comparable hardware. So far it has performed as expected. It's not the fastest drive, but I need it for archival, so it's totally satisfactory from a speed perspective, but awesome on capacity. I didn't RAID the drives -- just plugged it and used the 5 internals as 20TB each. I did have issues transferring files from a Mac Journaled drive to the native ExFAT, but, since formatting to match the source, it's been smooth sailing. 5

[30.4 dBA] Very easy to set up, completely quiet. Good quality construction. Installed an 18 GB spinny drive, plugged it in, and got to work. Love that it comes with a cable, has a power switch, and an internal power supply (no wall wart!). May order another one just to have a spare (because products get discontinued, and I like things to match). Haven't tried the external USB-C port, but I would daisy-chain a second unit. Would purchase again. 5

[40 TB] I tried several enclosures and I finally think I found a winner. This thing is solid. Really solid and the fan is so quiet I didn't think it worked at first. However you can definitely feel it. Seriously good bye especially when you can switch HDDs out as your needs change for more storage. 5

[156 W] This enclosure looks like it's from the 1990s. It's heavy, it's metal, it has a fan AND it has a built-in power supply. It has a power cord, but NO BRICK! There is a second USB-C port to daisy chain more devices. I have an 8TB Iron Wolf Pro installed and the Tech Tool Pro software is measuring write speed at 345 MB/s, read speed at 278 MB/s. I have not installed an SSD yet, but you can install a 2.5 SSD or HDD in this box. I am very happy with this enclosure at this point. I may have to get another one if this one starts to get lonely. 5

[1x 3000 rpm Fan] I bought this for use with a 22TB HDD that I'd bought to archive a large engineering project I'd recently completed. So far, so good. It's rugged, and the hard drive's temperatures topped out at 40C. It gets along fine with Linux; I saw no errors reported. Performance is on par with what other reviewers have mentioned. 5
