Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this unit particular for any specific system (Sony, Nikon, Canon, Fuji) or can it be used with any system as long as you hook up for example with a pc sync cable?

A: The Rotolight NEO 2 LED Light is camera agnostic. It works with any camera once hooked up.

Q: 2. Does it work with the Godox XPro for HSS ? Is the Elinchrom system better ?

A: No. but will work with elinchrom el skyport Please review the following item https://bhpho.to/3ATOs6T

Q: 3. what type of cable should I buy to connect to a d850 ?

A: A standard PC Sync cable is needed. Same is true if off camera with a receiver.

Q: 4. Is it work with OLYMPUS omd em5mII ?

A: Yes, this is is compatible with your Olympus omd em5mii.

Q: 5. Will these work directly on a canon hot shoe as a on-camera flash?

A: No you would have to connect it to a pc port

Q: 6. What kind of trigger will I use for Sony cameras?

A: You can use the Rotolight Elinchrom EL-Skyport transmitter for Sony. The Neo 2 has an Elinchrom receiver built in. It works very well and lets you vary the output of the light with the transmitter.

Q: 7. Can anyone who's had the Neo2 speak for this unit's durability? How do they hold up to daily use/setup/breakdown?

A: Hello! NEO2 is a beautifully made LED panel. its durability does not cause any doubt. But... it is completely useless flash in the conditions of a bright day, limited to useful in the shade. it is useful LED light at night and in the late evening.

Q: 8. Will this work with my Elinchrom triggers bought with the two light kits Elinchrom D-Lite RX 4 ?

A: If the triggers you have support HSS they should work. We recommend the EL-Skyport Transmitter Plus HS for this light. You can select between Canon, Nikon, Sony and Olympic/Panasonic options from this link.https://bhpho.to/2yorRnB

Q: 9. I'm interested in using this with a Fuji X-T2. Is there a wireless trigger option? and if I wanted to use a cable, which PC Sync Cable would I use?

A: At this time Rotolight only offers Sony, Canon, Nikon and Panasonic options for the Wireless Trigger Option. You could still use this light with a Fuji X-T2, but it would have to be as a continuous light.

Q: 10. Will it run on continuous light and flash modes simultaneously ? That is to say can it flash at the high power and act as a modeling light between flashes ?

A: The Rotolight NEO 2 Light can run on continuous and flash modes, simultaneously.

[3000 to 10,000K] I have 4 Neo 2s, and while they are OK, and I like the AA battery implementation, the Neo3 outclasses it in every way. Much more power, much more sophisticated control layout, and easier implementation even without Ap controls....which work quite well as well. In emergency, I can use them as continuous light source either for focusing, or even exposure with ISO 2500, f4, 1/250 sec into umbrella at about 6 feet from subject and two lights. In candid photo situations shooting individual or groups in convention settings at 10--15 feet with flash mode I can use 800-1000 ISO f2, 1/200 sec and get good results as direct flash held manually above the camera. While no where near the power of speedlights, with current camera's capabilities to shoot at higher ISO, they are definitely usable. You must use guide number methods as there is no TTL function, and with units I use generic radio remotes to fire them from camera mounted trigger units. One note, is that flash meters do not appear to read the flash output from these units or the Neo2, so experimentation with exposures and subsequent usage of guide numbers will still offer quick adjustment of aperture to control exposures as long as you are shooting within about 20 feet of your subjects, and have fast glass. The massive number of shots on a battery charge and very fast recycle means no HVP needed for extended shooting.

[3000 to 10,000K] It all started with the first iteration of this compact form for me. Now the Neo 3. What is possible with the over 2000 color gel options, the work flow enhancements leaves me in awe. Jpegs look so good SOOC, it's like my raw files are now a back up option for fewer and fewer files that need that extra work to touch up. This has cut my turn around time from weeks to a few days. Could not ask for more. Work Smarter, Work efficient and have fun.

[Proprietary] Pretty amazing piece of engineering and so versatile! I shoot very little without using these guys somewhere, somehow. Use with the iPowerMAX AA batteries and can shoot much longer than I had imagined!

[50°] Summer Camp we are in racking the basics to filmmaking. This light kit was a great stater for my students. Easy to use. Easy to set up. Definitely recommend as a starter and would love to get a sponsorship from your company for my students.

[Proprietary] Just using the light for a limited time, everything worked like it should. Only feature didn't try was the wireless flash, but will try it when I get a wireless transmitter.

[Fan] The Neo 2 is a two-fer: continuous lighting and a strobe. PLUS it has a wide ISO range, brightness adjustments and built-in Elicnchrom receiver. The special-effects are a bonus and, if you're dabbling into video, a great way to add realistic lighting effects to your work.

[50 W ] I have used Rotolight Neos and Neo 2s for several years now... Neo 2s give off diffuse light across the temperature and intensity ranges of the light... Great for a lot of applications...

[Proprietary] The NEO 2 provides continuous lighting for video or, using the built-in Elinchrom receiver, functions as a strobe from your DSLR--putting out even more light. Output color is easily adjustable to your creative taste or can mimic ambient light. Considering the cost of a high-end DSLR strobe, Rotolight's NEO and AEOS line are practical and competitive solutions. The explorer kit includes stands, filters, power supplies and simple heads to mount on a hot shoe and a nice bag to hold it all. You can power each NEO 2 via batteries (not included), if you choose. As always, check the specifications carefully before you buy. The more I use my AEOS and NEO lights the more I'm impressed with their functionality and flexibility. Barndoors aren't included.

[3000 to 10,000K] Handy even outside during the day. That’s how bright it is. Will fill in shadows a bit to help reduce contrast: awesome in the shade or under clouds to add just a bit of pop. Kills it at night. Two of these on stands and you’re ready. Fly one on a boom pole off of a stand and dim it down to 1% for a nice separation light. I like that it will dim down to next to nothing, match color temps in the 60s, 70s, and even 85, plus it’s a great combination of much lighter and brighter than most of the Dracast lights and lkan lights I’ve used. At $200 to $300 it’s a bargain, they are obviously looking to saturate the market with these. I sometimes dial up 600k or 1k to make it look just a tad whiter - because it reproduces warmer colors so well. Fan noise would only be a concern in small rooms or on very quiet sets shooting softer dialogue: for ENG, especially outside and five feet from the talent, it’s no problem. Not sure how well it works as a strobe, but as a continuous light source it’s very good. Used it last night and was reminded of how great it is! Can’t wait to add a second NEO3 (or get two of the AOES 2’s) in my kit.
