Every part of the NW-A306 Walkman is engineered to deliver clean, high-resolution audio; from the aluminum chassis to the gold-infused solder connecting internal components, such as the S-MASTER HX hi-res audio amplifier.

The result is support for DSD audio up to 11.2 MHz, Hi-Res Audio/Hi-Res Audio Wireless, and LDAC processing, MQA support, and more. Everything is easily managed through the 3.6" touchscreen and Android 12 OS. Up to 36 hours of hi-res playback is possible via Wi-Fi streaming or local PC library access, or from files loaded in the Walkman's 32GB of internal memory or on an optional microSD card.

[Yes] I bought this to listen to my Apple Music Library. Setting it up was very easy. I wish that Sony comes out with videos on how to use it. It took me a while to play around with it. Good solid product. I don't have to get an additional streamer, dac or headphone amplifier. Highly recommended. 5

[Android 12] First thing first. I love this little player that came to replace my trusty but aging Onkyo DP-S1. The hardware is good. I like the decision to use Android as an OS; that adds a lot of flexibility to what you can do with the player. I won't list all the great features and rather concentrate on the shortcomings. Because of the OS, it takes some time for the player to start. Like an aged Android phone, which attests to the speed of the CPU. Once started, it's all good. Starting/stopping, especially stopping track can be laggy. Battery life is on the shorter side. I would say 3-4 hours, although I never really timed it. Some decisions on playlist creation and track shuffling are questionable, but it's a matter of taste and habit. The biggest deal for many is that, unlike the international/Japanese version, the US version of the player has a gain limiter. For that matter, I've ordered a Japanese version for almost the same price. Overall, this player is well worth the price. I am not so sure that would be the case with its older cousin. 5

[0.45 lb] This is an outstanding portable music player. Plays compressed as well as higher fidelity music files. I added a 512 G microSD and now have tremendous storage capability. I use it with headphones and pipe directly or via bluetooth through my Klipsch One Plus speaker. 5

[Yes ] Headline says it - and this is true even while using the custom firmware by Mr. Walkman in the original (AM[1]). HOWEVER to use as a player only a lot of android de-bloating needs to occur. This is how I use it to play my files from a micro-sd card. On the other hand you can likely use this one device as the center of a great system, including streaming, purchasing, downloading, if you want to take advantage of what android CAN do for you. A fine upgrade. 5

[Yes] I loved my old WM1A, and I'm glad Sony kept the perfect physical shape while fixed almost all the pain points. No more Sony proprietary charging cable, better streaming support, slightly better battery life (when listening offline). My only wish that Sony trim down the Android system a bit more. 5

[Yes ] After a cumbersome set up (Stereo instructions challenged I am) the Walkman worked great. Very solid and love the external controls (much like a classic Walkman). Setting up the Walkman was not intuitive and I still fumble around trying to set up Bluetooth connections, etc. Once set up it was fine. I was able to download my music from iTunes (from my MAC) but via a third party app. Do feel that this is a great replacement for my bulky iPod. The cassette tape visual is a nice touch. Very pleased with my purchase despite the setup hiccups. 5

[Bluetooth 5.0] I decided at beginning of the 2024 that I would digitize my extensive library of classical and opera CDs and then donating them to the local library for sale. It was one of the best decisions I made in quite a while. The way I organized the music in my computer for download into the MP3 player, coupled with the technology and quality of sound has been amazing.
