The Plustek SmartOffice SC8016U Document Scanneris a 600 dpi A3-size document scanner with a 100-sheet automatic document feeder. This scanner features a scan speed of 80 pages per minute, or 160 images per minute in duplex mode, when scanning A4-size documents in grayscale at 300 dpi. This allows for high quality scans at a quick rate, especially with a duty cycle of 8,000 scans per day for a rated lifetime of 300,000 scans.

The scanner can handle a variety of media types all the way up to 11.7 x 200", even including plastic and embossed cards. Additionally, all these items can be stacked in the feeder without any sorting or separation.

The SC8016U features an intelligent misfeed function that utilizes an ultrasonic sensor to detect double feeding. It also uses standard TWAIN and WIA drivers for compatibility with many scanning and imaging programs.

Also, the scanner includes a USB 2.0 cable, an AC adapter, a power cable, a setup/application CD-ROM, a calibration sheet, a memo label, a cleaning cloth, 2 pad modules, a feed roller, and a paper chute.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this scanner work well for legal documents? Also, does it scan letter sized documents that are single paged? Thanks.

A: No, the Plustek OpticBook 3800L Scanner would not be a good option for scanning legal sized documents. This scanner has a scanning bed of 8.5 x 11.7" which is smaller than legal sized documents.

Q: 2. Some of our old photos have "melded" with the plastic album overlays. If I cut the photos out of the album with a layer of plastic, can I calibrate the scanner for a thicker size?(thicker than a photo)

A: Since it would be hard to measure the thickness of the photo plus the plastic, it would probably be better to use a flatbed scanner that has dust and scratch correction software sure as this Epson: https://bhpho.to/3KIHwQ6

Q: 3. Specs say 600 dpi and comments say 300 dpi. Which is it?

A: It is both - you can choose either. The 300 dpi is faster than the 600 dpi.

Q: 4. I see that this scanner can scan letter size documents but not sure if it scan photos that are larger than 4x6?

A: The maximum scan size is 8.5 x 11.7" / 21.6 x 29.7 cm.

Q: 5. Is this scanner compatable with macOS Catalina 10.15.4?

A: Yes it is compatible with Catalina.

Q: 6. How to connect Plustek z300 to Mac air 2020 which does not have a dvd drive?

A: All the software for the Plustek ePhoto Z300 is available for download on our website: https://plustek.com/us/products/film-photo-scanners/ephoto-z300/support.php

Q: 7. Does this scanner read and include white borders on photos? I am searching for a scanner that auto crops to the exact size of a photo (including white border)while maintaining high resolution (300dpi+).

A: Yes it does include the white borders.

Q: 8. I am having trouble saving pictures. I click the save icon and then it says to locate folder, not save in the pop up. I click it, it says it is saving and then the pictures aren't in the folder. Any ideas why?

A: Rodney, please call our support team at: 714-670-7713 option 1 or a href= http://plustek.com/usa/support/technical-support-form.html. target= _blank http://plustek.com/usa/support/technical-support-form.html./a They can help you sort this out.

Q: 9. The video shows that a photo scans in 2 seconds, I assume that is set at 300 dpi. How long does it take to scan a photo at 600 dpi?

A: It would takes an estimated18 seconds to scan a 4x6 photo at 600 dpi.

Q: 10. Will this scanner save in a jpeg format on a photostick?

A: The ePhoto will save jpeg format images to any location on your PC, Mac or even your network. If you are asking about saving to a standard USB flash drive, the answer is yes. If you are asking about ThePhotoStick I'm quite sure you will need to use ThePhotoStick software to load the files on ThePhotoStick. In this case, you would save the scanned images to a location on your hard drive and then use ThePhotoStick software to backup the images.Feel free to drop us a note at InfoUSA@PlustekUS.com if this doesn't answer your questions.

[300,000 Sheets] Three generations of photographers in my family produced thousands of prints -- this is a speedy and efficient product. Fun to use, easy to install. I am only using it for prints, mostly 4X6. Does a nice job correcting most imperfections, fixing color balance, and so on. Not a substitute for today's digital darkroom solutions, but great for preserving memories, which is what I was looking for. Makes managing a mountain of prints possible.

[TWAIN] Purchase this to scan all the pictures my wife has collected over the years and love how fast I can go through the pictures in a photo album. The only thing that I don't like is I have to stop and save at every 50 pictures scanned.

[8000 Scans] Compact, good value, easy to use, super fast, very clear scanned pictures.....what's not to like.

[TWAIN] Great scanner and quick! I am downsizing for a move and scanned several photo albums, almost 3000 pictures so far!! You have to save after each 50 scans, but takes no time at all!!
Definitely recommend!

[24 VDC at 2.7 A] This is exactly what you need if you have a few thousand images that need to be scanned fast. Quality is excellent, took me about 2 minutes to set up, and (so far) not a single issue. Is this is the unit I would use for work? No, probably not, but for the boxes of personal photographs it has been amazing. We cranked through 1500 photos the first night.

[8000 Scans] This unit is awesome. I have albums and envelopes of old photos. Scanning through the Plustek is so fast. Once scanned in, you have multiple options for restoring or adjusting different aspects of the originals. Personally, all I do is a quick restore to contrast and color. Then I create a folder in the cabinet - mine are scanned by year - and move the restored photos into their folder.
You definitely can't go wrong using this for whatever your scanning needs are.

[300,000 Sheets] The color and tone from the scanned image are very close to the original photo without adjustment. the scanning speed is fast at the 300dpi setting. 600dpi setting is much slower but usually doesn't need it for scanning photos. I like it!

[TWAIN] Easy to use. Download PlusTek software on computer. Takes a few minutes. Photos go through quickly. Right-side inward and then place upside down. Really easy to do a steady stream. Easy to place digital pictures in folders covering each year.

[TWAIN] I'm giving it 5-stars despite the software being a little cumbersome to use. The device is quick and easy to use. The photo quality has been great considering I'm scanning 30 and 40-year-old prints from family photo albums. I did 2 albums in less than an hour. The cumbersome part comes in saving the photos and the amount you can do at a time before saving. I would recommend this product and I hope I will get tons of use out of it. Can't beat it for the price.

[LED] This thing works great. I was able to scan 3 boxes of photos in less than a week. The software is a bit quirky and frankly you're better off using Photoshop to edit the photos you scan. But in a pinch, their software works okay. I highly recommend this little scanner if you're looking to digitize your photos.
