Built as a 3-in-1 studio workhorse, the DHA V590² from Violectric is a versatile D/A converter with resampling and reclocking functions, a high-quality preamplifier, and an audiophile balanced stereo headphone amplifier all at once. With support for 4- to 600-ohm headphones, this unit can drive the most demanding headphones such as planars and low-impedance dynamics, while the ESS ES9026 Pro DAC chip provides dual-mono, 32-bit floating point delta sigma, digital-to-analog conversion, with support for up to 384 kHz PCM sampling rates and DSD512 decoding.

The V590² sports a plethora of I/O including balanced XLR input and output, unbalanced RCA input and output, multiple headphone outs including 1/4", 3.5mm, and a true balanced XLR 4-pin out, and four digital inputs: XLR 3-pin AES, RCA coaxial, TOSLINK optical, and USB-B, which provides the highest available sampling rate. With versatile functions like pre- and post-fader selection, five modes of resampling with a femto-scale atomic sync clock, pre-gain DIP switches, and a standard Alps RK 27 volume pot, it has never been simpler to control your signals. The unit also comes with a convenient infrared remote control.

With three analog input paths and five output paths, you have plenty of options for your analog signal routing. The V590² is designed to be operated as either a headphone amplifier or a loudspeaker preamplifier, with selectable inputs and outputs, as well as pre or post gain routing. Protective circuits also help to avoid overloads.

  • Balanced XLR inputs, balanced XLR outputs
  • Two unbalanced RCA stereo input pairs, one unbalanced RCA stereo output pair
  • Balanced XLR 4-pin stereo headphone output with wide ranging impedance support
  • Extra 1/4" and 3.5mm headphone outputs
  • Analog I/O selection as well as digital input selection
  • Pre- or post-gain routing selection
  • Rear panel DIP switches for pre-gain control up to ±18 dB

The V590² sports powerful DAC hardware via its ESS-based ES9026 Pro DAC chip, which supports 32-bit resampling and reclocking, with a huge 180 dB dynamic range. The DAC can accept any signal down to 16-bit and expand it to 32-bit for higher quality audio and avoidance of clipping. The internal atomic clock is accurate down to 80 femtoseconds, utterly eliminating any jitter in the resampling process. All digital signals can be expanded to 32-bit, and through USB, sample rates as high as 384 kHz PCM and DSD512 can be achieved.

The V590² is built to the highest standards with top-grade electronics. From high-quality resistors to reliable controls and connectors, this desktop unit is built to last for years of continuous studio use.

  • 52 transistors, 24 high-quality audio op-amps in the signal path
  • High-grade MKP capacitors
  • 0.1 to 1% Metallfilm resistors
  • Large filter capacity of >35,000 uF
  • Two toroidal transformers, 25 + 25W
  • Alps RK 27 motorized volume control, RK 27 balance control
  • Neutrik gold-plated XLR 4-pin headphone connector, Neutrik silver-plated 1/4" headphone connectors
  • Delayed relay-based headphone output during power on or instant cut-off of power
  • Rugged black anodized aluminum chassis

Q: 1. I want to go into a 2013 MacBook Pro that has no audio input port. (my previous MBPro 2011 had an audio in port) I want to go into the 2013 laptop USB port with line-in audio, not a microphone. I also want to monitor the line-in audio with headphones. Will this device do that?

A: Yes, this is possible as long as the device you are monitoring is TRRS compliant.

Q: 2. Is the microphone jack mono or stereo?

A: The Creative Labs Sound Blaster PLAY! 3 External Sound Card & USB DAC Amp has a mono mic input.

Q: 3. Hi! Can I use it to connect a new smart TV to an old, analog home theater?

A: The FiiO K7 Desktop USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier (Red), BH # FIK7RED, may be connected via its coaxial SPDIF, Toslink digital optical ,or RCA line inputs

Q: 4. What is the Max amount of Ohms It can drive?

A: According to the manufacturer specifications, the FiiO BTR15 Portable Bluetooth DAC and Headphone Amplifier (Black) can support headphones rated up to 300 Ohms.

Q: 5. Does this support only MQA files, not FLAC, PCM, DSD? Or Amazon Music app or YouTube through my iPhone?

A: The FiiO Q3 MQA Portable DAC and Headphone Amplifier (BH #FIQ3SMQA) is not a player. A connected player will decode the files and then feed it through the FiiO Q3 MQA.

Q: 6. Does this have 2 RCA outputs? I need to avoid a splitter to eliminate radio station interference when I use a splitter.

A: The FiiO K7 BT Desktop USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier with Bluetooth (B&H # FIK7BT) has a Stereo RCA coaxial line output, as well as a 1/4" TRS headphone output.

Q: 7. Is the 1/8" / 3.5 mm TRS Unbalanced Line Output a PreAmp? If a powered speaker is connected to the line out, does it automatically mute when you plugin a headphone?

A: The FiiO K3 V2 Desktop DAC and Headphone Amplifier (Black), B&H # FIK3V2, unbalanced TRS output uses the Texas Instruments OPA1612 which is an op-amp. Connecting powered speakers to the line output does not automatically mute when a headphone is plugged in but in the user guide they recommend disconnecting headphones when the line out is being used.

Q: 8. Does this item have a DAC mode where you dont need a driver? I would be using Windows 10 and hoping for plug and play scenario

A: Yes, the FiiO K5 Pro ESS Desktop USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier has a built-in DAC that should not require the use of an additional driver for use with Windows 10.

Q: 9. Will this work with Nvidia Shield (Android)?

A: No, this would only work with a Windows or Mac Operating System.

Q: 10. Could I use this with Pro Tools so I can make my projects 44.1 kHz? My Surface Laptop 3 only uses 48 kHz.

A: Yes, this can be used with pro tools to output sound at a variety of bitrates.

[D/A Converter] It works when it is bus-powered, but it shines when it is plugged in. It is clear, transparent, and surgical.

[AES3, TOSLINK] The iFi Zen Dac V2 met and honestly exceeded my expectations on a few fronts. Easily powers my Sennheiser 560s at 12 o'clock. If you have headphones with lighter bass, TrueBass is AMAZING. It did turn some of my IEMs into bass heavy sledgehammers. This is a very versatile product that puts any person in a good position in the entry audiophile game.

[+21 dBu ] This is an attractive, good sounding, compact phono preamp with plenty of punch. It’s well constructed and made in America! The EQ helps compensate for varying sound quality on records or offers quick adjustment for desired listening preferences. The bonus is having a couple of line level inputs so you can plug anything else in. It’s everything I need to play music through my 2-ch system with a passive crossover sub. No more, no less.

[D/A Converter] One of the absolute BEST solid state amps made today… PERIOD.
Warm sound, great depth, great detail and soundstage is deep and BIG.
The warmth feels “tube- like” but not over done or veiled… just rich, lush sound all around!!

[+21 dBu ] The headline says it all. One caveat: if your computer has a noisy power supply the noise will likely turn up in the output.
