Designed to drive everything from low- to high-Z loads for headphones or loudspeakers, the HPA V550 Headphone Amp and Preamp from Violectric delivers versatile functionality and low-noise, low-distortion circuits specially optimized for dynamic and orthodynamic headphones. With support for headphone impedance loads of 16 to 600 ohms, the V550 can drive the most demanding headphones, while pre-gain selection via DIP switch and pre- or post-fader selection make the unit equally comfortable as a high-fidelity studio preamplifier.

The V550 sports balanced stereo Neutrik XLR outputs and inputs, two unbalanced RCA inputs, four unbalanced RCA outputs, two unbalanced 1/4" stereo TRS headphone outputs, and one fully balanced, Neutrik XLR 4-pin stereo headphone output with gold-plating for true balanced headphone amplification. This amp features plenty of control over your amplified signal with standard volume control with balance knob, dedicated input and output selection, and a wireless infrared remote control for conveniently controlling volume and selecting inputs or outputs.

Q: 1. Please explain the mono switch. What I'm looking for his a device that will mix the stereo channels into mono and deliver the mono signal to both headphones channels. Can this unit do that?

A: The stereo/mono switch sums the stereo input to mono. In this mode all headsets connected will be fed a mono signal. (Same signal to both left and right).

Q: 2. how long does the 9 volt run this unit?

A: I've never done a controlled test, but we've used these for several years and I'm perfectly happy with the battery life. I think they'll last as long as in any other basic IFB box.

Q: 3. is it possible for a battery to run this unit?

A: Unfortunately no. It must have DC power.

Q: 4. Will this Rolls RA53B shipped with 220V power adaptor?

A: The 12 VDC Power Supply included is designed to accept 120 VAC only.

Q: 5. Is it have enought impedance output for 300 Omhs headphones?

A: To drive higher impedance headphones(such as 300 ohm phones) a amplifier usually needs to produce a higher voltage swing. This is not a case of having "enough impedance for 300 ohm headphones", but of having enough voltage. Having "enough" depends on the sensitivity of the 300 ohm headphones and the voltage output capability of the amplifier, and how loud you prefer to listen. This amplifier can produce a RMS voltage swing of no more than 4.2 volts. That may be enough if you have sensitive headphones (more than 100dB/volt) and listen at safe levels. However, if your phones have low sensitivity(less than 96 dB/volt)and you want to listen at hearing-damaging heavy metal levels, then this amp won't be powerful enough.

Q: 6. What exactly does Output Impedance Minimum 10 ?, per channel mean? I'm trying to find out the actual impendance output of this amp and I don't know what they mean by minimum ? Can anyone clear this up for me? Thanks.

A: Don't buy this unit it's a piece of junk it doesn't work.

Q: 7. Hi, is the adapter 110v or 230v ?

[50 VA] I have this hooked up with my PC's Line Out with Realtek Audio Console and with my AKG K240s, sound quality is very nice. Construction of the amp is solid, all ports are secured and dials are easy to turn. I would recommend buying a four channel amp like this instead of a single channel for its versatility for use cases such as podcasting or studio work. Overall, very happy with this purchase. 5

[16 to 600 Ohms] This is a handy dandy item at a good price. I'm a videographer and sometimes more than 1 person needs to listen to the audio as it is being captured. The solution is this headphone amp/splitter. Also comes with adapters so if your headphone has an 1/8 or 1/4 connector, you are in business. Individual volume pots are a nice feature. 5

[16 to 600 Ohms] In the category of small and inexpensive headphone amps, this one is a winner. It is well made, includes all the necessary cables and adapter plugs, is loud enough for almost any headphone and delivers pristine sound. I have used it with Teams, Skype and zoom video conferences where multiple people want to listen in with differing levels of loudness without disturbing others. Even attaching it to a laptop delivers excellent sound to a single headphone at a loudness level that exceeds what a laptop can deliver over the 3.5mm audio-out connector. I tested the amp with Sony, Sennheiser and AKG headphones and in all cases the sound was as good as can be expected. 5

[0 dB +6 dB ] I felt skeptical when first ordering this, honestly. I was worried that it was _too inexpensive_ to be any good, but I talked to a specialist and took the leap. For what it is - a powered headphone hub with individual volume controls, basically - it's fantastic. I don't have testing equipment so cannot quantify how good a job it does at faithfully reproducing sound, but to my picky ears, it does a great job. No hiss, background noise, no issues raising or lowering the level (volume). It just works. It solves a problem for me where I had two headphones, one with a much higher impedance than the other, and a listening partner with a much lower volume appreciation than me. Now, my headphones can be as loud as I want them, while the other set is as quiet. I would get this again without hesitation. I bought one for my aging folks, too, because they have a similar listening situation as I do. A+. Also, thanks to the specialist who helped me pick this out! 5

[> 131 dBA ] With more people working from home, two or more people with this headphone amplifier can listen to a video stream without disturbing others. In a family Skype or zoom call, different family members can adjust the volume levels to their liking. And the sound quality is great. Attaching studio headphones to the 3.5mm analog out of my laptop provides a great sound experience, better than without extra amplification. Such a small and reasonably priced device with so many applications! 5
