The Sigma dock allows you to MFA at four different distances, so therefore is more accurate as lenses can front or back focus different amounts at different shooting distance. For example, lenses can be spot on shooting at objects close but then back focus shooting at objects that are greater than 6ft. The MFA you can make on a camera body is just one adjustment for all shooting distances. Hope that makes sense. Also, another use for the dock would be to download the latest firmware for the lens. The dock only works with the Global Vision lenses. (i.e. art, contemporary, and sports)
