This NiSi 82mm UV IR-Cut Filter for VND Swift Systemfrom NiSi 82mm UV IR-Cut Filter for VND Swift Systemis a diffusion filter designed to fit the Swift System True Color VND (Variable Neutral Density) filter. This filter cuts UV (Ultraviolet) light transmission below 390nm and IR (Infrared) light transmission above 700mn, while retaining the regular visible light spectrum. This makes it ideal for use with cameras that do not have an IR filter installed in front of the sensor, like the Black Magic Pocket and Red video cameras.

Made of optical glass, this filter has anti-reflective multicoating to reduce lens glare and optimize light transmission. It can be used with the Swift Friction Mount System adapter ring or added on to the NiSi True Color VND 1-5 Stop / 5-9 stop variable ND filters for even more protection against light.

[0.24 lb] When used for astro photography, there is little lens distortion at the edge of field on an 90mm dia F4 scope / lens. Star roundness is more difficult to achieve as compared to regular day time photography. This lens is very usable and appears to be relatively uniform across the entire field of view at F4 5

[0.24 lb] Most (or some) ir filters are too XTREME and cut out slightly visible reds. I have used these on some red weapon cameras and Sony cameras like A7sII and FS5/7. I know a lot of people don't shoot raw with FS5/7 but those cameras have a tough time with ir pollution when shooting raw and these filters are perfect. I shot a lot of athletic commercials last year and all that black synthetic material just radiates ir and looks purple on almost any camera. This helps keep them black and awesome looking. 5

[Glass] The filter is a solid piece of glass. Top quality. Doesnt degrade 4k resolution lenses. Will buy a couple more for the rest of my lenses. 5

[82 mm] Paired this filter with my DZO film Pictor Zooms using a step-up ring. Makes a huge difference cutting out UV and IR light from the image outdoors, and makes blacks blacker, taking away the red fringing that is typically seen in outdoor shots on blacks without a filter like this. Build quality is exceptional as always. 5
