Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this:Kopul LMT100 - Low to High Impedance Matching Transformer (1.5') to hook a microphone up to use with my iPhone6?

A: Although both the Kopul cable and iPhone both have 3.5mm jacks, these are not compatible. To connect a mic to an iPhone to a mic that has an XLR jack, you will need the LMT-100 and an additional adapter to connect to an iPhone such as the Mymyk connector cable. In addition the mic you connect must be dynamic, or battery powered. The phone will not provide any power to the mic.

Q: 2. Is there a way to add phantom power device to use my audio Technica shotgun mic that I used to use with a DAT recorder that had phantom power, but now all my cables do not work with 1/8in cameras or devices. Thanks for any advice?

A: A device such as the Denecke PS-1A Portable Single Channel 48V Phantom Power Supply (BH #DEPS1A) could be used in between a phantom-powered shotgun microphone and the Kopul LMT100 Low to High Impedance Matching Transformer for proper connection to 3.5mm camera inputs: https://bhpho.to/3rPrNa4

Q: 3. if i connect my 100 ohm mic to my dslr 3.5 jack using this transformer, will the recorded sound still have around 100 ohm impedance?

A: This is an impedance matching transformer. It will convert your 100 ohm mic to approx. 2000-3000 ohms to match your cameras mic input. Recorded audio is not measured in impedance, but decibels.

Q: 4. Help me the set up sure sm 57 vip microphone

A: Each SM57 requires an XLR cable to connect it to your chosen output (typically either the input of a mixer or powered speaker). The end that connects to each SM57 should be XLR Female, and your mixer or speaker should have either an XLR inuput (where you can plug in an XLR Male cable termination) or 1/4" input for a 1/4" Male cable termination. In summary, you will need either two XLR F to XLR M cables or two XLR F to 1/4" M cables, depending on what you are plugging the two mics into.

Q: 5. What is the difference between this cable and the cheaper Kopul XRSM-015B? I plan on connecting NTG2 (battery-powered) to my DSLR or PC. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1221867-REG/kopul_xrsm_015b_xrsm_3_pin_xlr_female.html/specs

A: The LM100 is an impedance matching cable, low to high, while the other is not. If you are connecting to a line level input you will need the impedance matching cable, if you are connecting to a mic level input you will use the less expensive XLR to TRS cable.

Q: 6. I got this cable with the Senn 600 and when plugged into my Canon 80D it only registers on the LEFT channel, is this because of the cable or because the Senn is a mono mic? Do I need to do something else to have it record bother left and right channels, there are no options on the 80D for that, thanks.

A: The LMT-100 is specifically designed for connection of a mono mic to a camera. Audio should be present on both sides using this cable and should have no issues with the Sennheiser or similar mics. We do however generally recommend the Sennheiser brand cable (KA-600). https://bhpho.to/2gPQ0Wn Please contact a Representative here for additional assistance at 800-606-6969.

Q: 7. I buy sm57 vip president kit they r not provide me any cable how I operate this

Q: 8. How does an unpowered/passive transformer provide 24dB of gain?

A: The 24dB of gain provided by the Shure Microphone Matching Transformer XLR Female to 1/4" Male is achieved when connecting a balanced low-impedance microphone output to an unbalanced high impedance input.

Q: 9. can you recommend a longer cable to work with this adapter?

A: Since this is an impedance matching transformer, it would be recommended to use an XLR cable of the length of your choice to connect to the XLR female side in order to extend.

Q: 10. can you recommend a longer cable to work with this adapter?

A: For a longer cable run, you may use a standard XLR cable. You may consider B&H # KOM4025 for a 25' extension.

[41 kohms] It is hard to rate something as inert as a transformer, but I know that this will come in extremely handy for those situations in which an mic level XLR input is not available. A staple in my gear bag.

[20Hz to 20kHz] I can now use one of my mics in a guitar stomp box for some special effects or jam at a friends putting it in 2nd channel of guitar amp. I got the real thing made by Shure than a knock off for a couple of dollars less.

[20Hz to 20kHz] We use this to connect a portable console to a house audio system. We also use it to connect balanced equipment to unbalanced equipment. It minimizes hum and DC offset problems. It is a handy solution to a common problem.

[XLR (female)] Well built product. The transformer solved an incompatibility between a fussy balanced amplifier output and an unbalanced load.

[75 to 300 ohms] Cleaned up the unclear paging and brought everything up to a clean and understandable level.

Amazing how changing the impedance cleared up the announcements.

[8 x 6 x 1"] I got a cheaper transformer and it kept failing and I kept
soldering. Spent a few extra bucks, and this is solid and flawless.
Can add a bit of voltage gain, going XLR mic to instrument port,
if your mic is a bit weak. The dbx286 was the ultimate answer, but
this is super for troubleshooting and packing light and backup. Must have for the audio tackle-box.

[20Hz to 20kHz] I had to fix a cheaper transformer 3 times before getting this. What a horror show. Spend the extra $5-$10...this Shure is very good quality.
