Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the 11lb load capacity at boom's full extension?

A: Yes. 11-15lbs fully extended.

Q: 2. With two of these light stands and a crossbar, can it support background paper?

A: i would say yes

Q: 3. Is this light stand strong enough to hold a boom pole with a large rycote blimp dead cat?

A: The Sirui Carbon Fiber Air-Cushioned Light Stand (9.2') BH #SICFACLS92 is rated for 22lbs. As long as you properly counterbalance the boom and the total load does not exceed the stands load limit then you should be fine.

Q: 4. What is the weight of the whole kit?

A: It weighs around 10 pounds

Q: 5. Can i detach the center pole ?

A: No, it is riveted to the base.

Q: 6. Can this case hold 4 stands? For example adding the impact 8' light stand?

A: The three stands fit nicely with space to spare. An additional 8' light stand will fit. I do not think a bigger stand will fit.

Q: 7. I have three lights. Is there an option to purchase this "as is" and another with just a single stand?

A: The Impact VR Compatible Stand Kit BH #IMLS8AICSK (B&H Kit) is made up of BH #IMLS8AI and BH #OBBD0.

Q: 8. I was thinking of using this to hold a softbox a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/610080-REG/Westcott_411_uLite_Constant_Light_with.html target= _blank http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/610080-REG/Westcott_411_uLite_Constant_Light_with.html/a that would function as a hair light. Will it: 1. Support the weight of the softbox?2. Extend high enough to illuminate the hair of someone standing, let's say a person 6 feet tall? Thanks very much!

A: I would recommend a more robust boom for a softbox. I have a Pepper 100 focusing spot on it and I had to tie an extra weight on it to get the reach I needed.

Q: 9. Will this hold a 6.5 x 5 Wescott Reversible Backdrop laterally?

A: Yes, the Impact Collapsible Reflector / Background Holder Kit can support a 6.5 x 5 Wescott Reversible Backdrop from the center top of the background. I recommend using a sandbag on the bottom of the stand, BH #IMSBFO15 (https://bhpho.to/3wT8EK6).

Q: 10. Can this light stand be made into a reflector holder?

A: You can add the Impact Telescopic Collapsible Reflector Holder B&H # IMLDHT to this light stand. https://bhpho.to/2uXvqeE

[4] I've had the pleasure of using these photo stands from Hobolite for quite some time now, and I can't help but express my utmost satisfaction. As a photographer who frequently travels abroad, finding the right equipment that strikes a balance between functionality and aesthetics is crucial for my event work. And these stands have truly exceeded my expectations.

One of the standout features of these stands is their remarkable strength, which is an absolute necessity for holding lights in an event environment. Whether it's indoor or outdoor shoots, these stands deliver the reliability I need to ensure my equipment remains steady and secure throughout my sessions. With live events, there is always a risk of "guest interference."

But what truly sets these stands apart is their elegant design. When working in luxury event environments, visual distractions can be a concern. These stands seamlessly blend into the backdrop, adding to the overall aesthetics rather than detracting from them. This is a game-changer when it comes to creating a professional and unobtrusive atmosphere during high-end events.

Moreover, the compactness of these stands is a true game-changer for a frequent traveler like me. They pack down into a surprisingly small size, the 7.9' fitting effortlessly into my carry-on and the 10.2' in my checked bag.

What initially drew me to Hobolite was their fantastic light stands, and I've since expanded my gear kit to include their lights as well. The synergy between these products is undeniable, and they have become invaluable additions to my photography arsenal.

If you're a photographer seeking photo stands that provide exceptional strength, elegant design, and unparalleled portability, I wholeheartedly recommend these. These stands have not only enhanced my photography experience but have also allowed me to maintain a professional edge in various event settings.

[Carbon Fiber] I used to use cheap Amazon light stands. I thought they were supposed to be cheap, they are just light holders. And honestly, I hated using them...

I saw these at Samy's and fell in love. Sleek. solid. Light. And great user experience. I bought two. And I use them every chance I get! I highly recommend. I might even get one more longer version just in case. I've been using it to hold boom on set, and it works great!

[Optional] This light stand fits that gap between a tall (10' or greater), sturdy, metal light stand that you would use in a studio with strobes and heavy modifiers, and that barely tall enough (~6'), light-weight, easily knocked over, stand that everyone takes with them for off-camera flash. The former is too heavy to take on location, especially when two or three are needed, and the latter is only moderatly useful and has severe limitations. These Neewer carbon fiber stands are a perfect compromise between those two, making it much more useful for carrying with you out of the studio, and removing the restrictions of not enough height, and the inability to safely support a studio strobe. They won't replace my studio stands, but they will be my go-to travel stands.

[Yes] Really great size and weight for light duty jobs like speedlights, reflectors, small grip and lighting modifiers. Well built, cool lock mechanism on the legs too. folds up super small.

[4] I didn't expect these tripods to be that strong and tall. Love using them!

[Carbon Fiber] I have been using this light stand for half a year now for my wedding photography both outdoors and indoors, especially for group photography at weddings. I normally have Godox AD600 Pro with a long reflector on top of it or smaller moonlights, AD400 pro, AD 300Pro, etc.
I love the lightness and quick adjustability, as well as the air cautioning. I can just unlock the levers with one hand and let the whole assembly slowly go down while I’m busy with something else. I've used it intensively, and so far there's no breakage or loose parts. The locks can be easily adjusted for a tighter grip.
I'm planning to get another one.

[Round] I like this SmallRig light stand a lot. It is much sturdier than I expected, which makes it heavier than expected, but that is actually a good thing because I think it might be more robust than other cheaper equipment I have used in the past. The levers to lock the legs at a particular height might appear to be too loose (or tight) when you get it, but you get a wrench with the stand which you can use to easily adjust the tension required to close the lever. This works very well and the metal levers seem very sturdy and good for long-term use. The dampening on the segments seems to be good and helpful. The support legs have a very wide stance and seem as though they will be good at preventing the stand from tipping over, unlike what I have seen on travel-oriented stands.

[Carbon Fiber] I purchased four of these for times when I want a super lightweight light kit. They are designed and built very well. Fold up small and easy to carry. A good value.

[Round] This is one of those things where you think the stand I have is good enough. That light stand I bought at a yard sale works just fine! Maybe it does, but we're putting expensive things on these stands, might wanna consider a good one. I was considering getting the lightest and most portable for my on location shoots. But then you need to haul around heavy sandbags and most of the compact ones seem to have a wobble to them. This one from small rig not only goes to nearly ten feet and is air cushioned, but it opens up with a nice wide base. Very stable! And the lever lock is a nice touch so you're not cranking on twist locks and risking them breaking. It doesn't pack up as small as others, I think it's around 3 feet folded. But it definitely gives me confidence and assurance that it's not going to fall over
