This Hawk-Woods VL-CA9E V-Mount for Blackmagic URSA with D-Tapfrom Hawk-Woods VL-CA9E V-Mount for Blackmagic URSA with D-Tapoffers the user greatly extended run-times. The VL-CA9E attaches to the camera body via the fitting points on the URSA providing the electrical connection through the camera's 12-pin connector. The VL-CA9E fitting offers one D-Tap output allowing the user to power further accessories/equipment.

A: I believe it switches seamlessly.

A: The plate does not charge the battery, all it does is allow you to be able to mount V-mount batteries onto the Blackmagic URSA. It does have a D-Tap port for accessory power however.

A: The Hawk-Woods D-Tap Male to Sony A7S Dummy Battery MFR # LR-16 provides regulated 7.2v.

Q: 6. Will this battery mount work with the BM 12k Cinema camera?

A: Yes, the Blackmagic Design V-Mount Battery Plate for URSA will support and work with the Blackmagic URSA 12K.

Q: 7. does this mount work with the 2/3 canon/fujinon HD lens(like 42x, 77x, j11)?

A: Yes. We have used it with the HA42x, XA77, and HJ11x4.7, however, you do need to use the 2x extender (to make a B4 lens cover the 35mm sensor - there are no optica to this adapter). With the light and resolution lose in this process, it gets pretty nasty. You can do it, but in my experiences, a B4 1080p camera (even a mediocre one like an HPX3100 or F900R) yields a sharper less noisy image.

Q: 8. I assume this has a 12-pin Molexconnector n the back but there are no pictures of the back and no mention in the description. Does this have the Molex?

A: Yes, the Blackmagic Design V-Mount Battery Plate for URSA has a Molex connector on the back.

Q: 9. Is the D-tap port regulated? Should I avoid powering an external monitor off this?

A: The Dtap output is not regulated. However, There are many cables that will regulate the power to a monitor for device that you connect.

Q: 10. Will a HD 2/3'' B4 mount lens work with no vignetting on the Ursa Mini Pro using this mount?

A: Yes in windowed HD mode.

[V-Mount] I was looking for a small, low profile power system to power my Sony A7Sii, monitor, follow focus and wireless transmitter. I bought this with the Hawk-Woods 98Wh and 150Wh Mini V-Mount batteries. Since the plate comes with 4 built in D-Tap receptacles I am able to have one small but powerful battery source for everything. The plate also takes my full size V-Mount batteries should I need them in. 5

[1x D-Tap] This adapter could be sold by dozens if it was better marketed. It is a fantastic idea for anyone with on set monitors (focus pullers, camera ops, video village) . Worth EVERY penny. Hot swap is the bomb. 5

[V-Mount] I use this with a MixPre-3 and a hirose-to-d-tap cable. Works as expected. Its awesome to be able to power the MixPre off camera battery. Would buy again. Only suggestion I have is that if you do use this to power your MixPre, and if you feed a signal back into your camera (i.e. not just record to the MixPre, but also send a scratch track signal from the MixPre to the camera), then you will want to get a ground loop isolator to put in your signal chain. Otherwise the in-camera scratch track will have interference noise. (The internal MixPre recording remains pristine.) 5

[1] This should be the standard battery sled for the Mixpre ii. I don't know what Sound Device is thinking when they design the AA battery sled. Huge design failure!. Keep falling and never securely locks. I like this sled better (Sound Device has one too). And when using it with Sony NP-F7XX, it last up 8+ hours (4 times longer than AA battery), and I'm sure it will last up to 12 hour (6 times longer) when using Sony NP-F9XX. The only cons is it's super thight. Don't use it if you plan to remove the sled very often. I suggest use USB-C port for file transfer when using this. 5

[1] Using this with the Atomos Shinobi 7 and 3 different Gold mount batteries. Build quality is great and the batteries latch in nicely. Just plug in the cable before sliding the receiver plate onto the back of the monitor. The 3 batteries I am using with this - Indi Pro Tools Micro-Series 98W, Core SWX Hypercore NEO Slim 98Wh, and an official Anton Bauer Digital Series 90 Gold Mount Battery 87Wh. 5
