The Sirui T-1005 Aluminum Travel Tripod E-10 Ball Headfrom Sirui T-1005 Aluminum Travel Tripod E-10 Ball Headis a versatile, yet lightweight and portable travel tripod with a maximum height of 64.2" and a load capacity of 17.6 lb. It's reverse-folding legs allow it to fold down to a compact 16.93", and it weighs a mere 4 lb, making it easy to carry along wherever it may be needed. The T-1005 comes with a full center column and a short center column, which can be easily swapped out for low-level shooting perspective or macro photography.

For situations where full tripod may be too bulky or slow, like when shooting sports or wildlife, one leg comes unscrewed and converts into a full-featured monopod. A center column segment can be attached for a maximum height of 58.7", when combined with the included E-10 head.

The E-10 ball head features and Arca-type quick release receiver with plate, a panoramic base with and independent locking knob, and a numbered scale for precision panoramic imaging. Additionally, the head includes a bubble level for quick alignment and a 90° notch for vertical camera orientation.

Q: 1. Does it have Arca-Type Compatible QR Plate?

A: The Sirui B-00 Series Mini Ball Head (Black) B&H # SISUB00BK that comes with this tripod uses a Sirui TY-C10 Quick Release Plate which is listed as Arca-Type Compatible.

Q: 2. Does this kit indeed come with the K-10 II ball head? I'm seeing it packaged with the E-10 ball head elsewhere online

A: The Sirui T-1005 Aluminum Travel Tripod with K-10 II Ball Head includes the Sirui K-10II Ball Head, BH #SIK10II.

Q: 3. Does this come with a travel bag? And is there any accessory for holding a cellphone?

A: The T-1205 Carbon Fiber Travel Tripod with E-10 Ball Head does not come with a travel bag. We recommend using the Oben ASPTA-20 Smartphone Tripod Adapter to hold a cellphone. BH# OBASPTA20

Q: 4. Is 57 the maximum height with the center column extended?

A: Yes it is at least 57 I measure 59 with center column extended and legs set for normal use. SFK

Q: 5. What have been your experiences with this tripod? Have you found that the legs collapse easily? Must you be extra careful tightening the legs?. The column that goes up and down, must you also be vigilant that it too has been tightened "hard"? And, finally, the ballhead itself, can it hold without sagging ( or tipping over) a NIKON D90 or D7000 or D610 with battery grips and a 300MM lens?

A: The A1005Y is an excellent combination of streanth & portability. It has a 22 pound load capacity, well within your system requirements. The Sirui twist lock system only requires 1/2 turn to loosen or tighten. When loosened the legs move smoothly. When tightened they are solid. The Y-10 head is very solid. No Sirui products require excessive force to function properly.

Q: 6. Is this tripod and head strong enough to effectively support a canon 5d Mk iii with a 70-300 L lens?

A: It depends. With the legs outstretched to the widest angle, it's fine with my Canon 5D and Canon 7D with a 100-400mm with and without a 1.4x extender. I use battery grips on both bodies. However, the tripod is wobbly and prone to falling over in the wind when the legs are set at the narrowest angle. I bought mine to use in a blind while shooting wildlife and sometimes use it for macro work. I backpack with mine and haul it around in panniers when cycling. The weight was fairly close to the carbon fiber model of similar design. The build quality is beyond comparison and very durable for a tripod in this price range. I own other tripods from Manfrotto and Gitzo but wanted another tripod to use exclusively in the field.

Q: 7. Thanks

A: The T-005SK has an 11 pound load capacity. The center column is fixed to the spider but can be unscrewed for low camera angles. As with all Sirui products all actions are smooth. Remember Sirui backs all tripods & heads for 6 years.

Q: 8. Do the maximum height figures include the ball head?

A: The maximum height figures include the ball head, yes.

Q: 9. How tall can the Sirius A1005 tripod w y-10 ball head without the center post extended?

Q: 10. Does it have a level? How many?

A: Yes, there is one spirit level on the ballhead.

[Yes] Terrific choice! I've only use the tripod three times, but I love the portability and the light weight factor. It's a joy to bring along as it is easy to use and extremely light. You had so many wonderful tripods from which to choose so it was very difficult, but I'm very happy with my decision on this model.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] Light, and amazingly sturdy. Some complain about the stiff legs but it comes with allen wrenches so you can loosen or tighten them. Also if you have some muscle it's not a problem. I'd rather they be a little stiff that to loose. Best travel tripod I've bought so far.

[5.4 lb] On the advise of the B&H staff member working in the area I went with this tripod I would have gone with one of the big names otherwise. I was looking for a tripod I can travel with & general use as an amateur photographer. This tripod exceeds my expectations in every way

[5] Excellent model. To me the best in class of the Sirui line putting it just above the other travel models in weight, but with the added benefit of sturdiness, without too much penalty. Love the flip leg locks, and that sold me, plus decent height, short shaft, adjustable leg angles etc. Only minor gripe, which is common with all the Sirui short shaft accessories, is that you lose the bag handle underneath when attached. However, for about 70grams penalty, I added a screw adaptor to the protruding thread, and attached a lightwieght carabena hook/latch. Problem solved. I reckon you could almost replace heavier models in the field, for long exposure, astro work, espcially if you attach a bag to the hook. Mine comes in at just over 1.6kg with the short shaft, Manfrotto head (320g) and custom bag hook on the short shaft thread. For only a few grams more you could leave the longer centre column attached, and have more height, but you'd lose the ability to go super flat, however, the long shaft would give adequate low angles for most shots. I just like a bit less weight, plus the ability to go lower, and I don't mind using my flip out screen on the LCD. It's high enough for me with the short shaft. Long shaft pretty much gives me eye height. Looks to me like it will stand up to fairly decent use.

[1x 1/4"-20 Male] At first I was looking at the smaller and lighter tripods, like the T004 and T005 series, but went for this because it is a little stouter. Smallest leg section is 0.5" (13mm) in diameter. I also like the 2-section center column, plus the ability to convert one leg + center column to a monopod. Also like the release button that keeps the QR plate from sliding out until you're ready. I don't mind having twist locks because that is what I'm used to, and these work fine.

I was aware that this is a little heavier than some of the backpacking types, but the trade-off is that it is sturdier and has a higher load rating. However, the advertised weight of 2.2 pounds does not include the head -- together, the total weight is close to 3.3 pounds. All in all, I still like it a lot.
