This 77mm 77mm Ice Circular Polarizer Light Pollution Filter Combofrom 77mm Ice Circular Polarizer Light Pollution Filter Comboremoves the skyglow color cast caused by light pollution during night photography, isolating the harmful effect of artificial lights on imaging. Especially useful for late-night, long-exposure imaging near cities or other sources of light pollution, this filter cuts light from the color spectrum, like that from low-CRI artificial light sources. In addition, the combined circular polarizer helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. It can clear up haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this filter for nikon lens?

A: The filter is for a lens with a 95mm opening....I purchased it for my Zeiss lens

Q: 2. What material is the ring made of? Brass, Aluminum, or other?

A: The ZEISS filter housing is made from aluminum. For more details about these filters, please visit: https://www.zeiss.com/consumer-products/int/photography/accessories/filter.html.

Q: 3. Can you tell me the total thickness of the B+W 43mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter, please?

A: B+W 43mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter is 6.5mm thick without messuring the threads. With the threads the filter has a total height of 9.5mm.

Q: 4. Are there any pros and cons between this Zeiss CP and a B+W Kaesemann CP?

A: I second the last reviewer. I have purchased and used both. Despite having a brass ring, the B+W has stuck to my lens thread. I even have a 72mm C-Pol filter by B+W with out of round adjustment ring. The worst part is that the polarizing film even has specks of dust trapped on the underside and mildly lifted at a small part of the edge (which I wasnt expecting for a Kaesmann). And there is even a part where the polarizing film was not even timed to meet the metal ring, leaving a micro gap prone to light leakage. Very disappointing for a B+W filter, given the price point. Otherwise, the optical quality was great. I have had mostly good luck with B+W filters except for this 72mm C-Pol and another 6-point star filter. Probably a QC issues at Schneider. The Zeiss is something else. The quality and craftsmanship are in a different league. The first thing you will notice when you open the package is the quality of the packaging. The filter comes out dust-free, a strong indication of a high-end facility from where it is produced. Dont be fooled by the aluminum ring. It easily tops all B+W filters I have ever used in terms of ease of attachment and removal. The machining of the threading is so precise it prevents any sticking at all. I have had zero issues in this regard. Optically, it is definitely no worse than B+W. but I dont know if it is better. QC is top notch just like any Zeiss products. Dont be discouraged by the fact that the Zeiss filter is made in Japan. Japanese are equally proud of their craftsmanship as their German counterparts. The extra cost is definitely worth the quality. All my future filters will be Zeiss.

Q: 5. I'm thinking in buying this CPL for my Zeiss Batis 2/25 - Is it hard to clean or take care? i do street photography in New York City - would a CPL be useful for the type of photos i capture? -Thanks!

A: The ZEISS filters are the best and with any filter requires care like your camera equipment so always use a microfiber cloth with bottled water prior to you shoot. You can always remove dust during processing in PS. Use this filter for shooting water and glass to remove reflections and it will bring out all colors but you can get the deep colors in processing. ZEISS optics are the best. When you use this filter you need to adjust it to the darkest point or your colors will not come out.

Q: 6. How does the M10 Mark II system differ from and improve upon the original M10 system?

A: The M10 II System differs from the original in terms of the ergonomics with improvements to how the holder locks, the seals around the holder and the use of metal frames around the M10 II filters.

Q: 7. Is it OK to install on a lens already has the T* coating? What's going to happen if you double the T* coating?

A: Yes, it's fine. It would only be problematic if the T* coating itself had a distinct color cast, in which case the white balance would need adjusting. However, the coating itself improves light transmission pretty evenly across the spectrum, so you'll only notice the normal color cast of the polarizing layers -- which is pretty neutral on the Zeiss. I think only the Breakthrough Photography polarizers are (or may!) be more neutral.

Q: 8. Is this filter scratch resistant?

A: The filter is made of glass. Only something harder than glass can scratch it like diamonds or topaz.

Q: 9. How thick is the filter (the whole filter, not the glass only)?

A: The thickness of the B+W 82mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter is about 6.7mm

Q: 10. For this 52mm filter--is the front thread diameter also 52mm? Thanks!

A: The front thread is 52mm.

[0.15 lb] I have been focusing on night photography in the historic district where I live. There are many different kinds of lights in the area which can cause odd coloration to occur during long exposure shots. This filter eliminates this issue resulting in sharp, accurate color. Very much worth its price.

[77 mm] I'm recommending this to all those (NTP) out there; it's affordable and well worth the price. (NTP=Night Time Photography/Photographers).

I read/researched about Light Pollution Filters; I'm just an amateur/hobbyist. 1camera, 1lens, 1bag, and a few needed accessories. I'm just getting into Night Time Photography (NTP) I wanted something that would help cut down on the strange smog-like haze at night. I wanted something on the camera; I don't do any post-editing or manipulation with photo software. I have to say I am impressed with this filter; I still have to do a lot of test shots but so far I'm really digging this filter.
