The enhanced Sigma 50mm T1.5 Cine Prime PL Mount High-Speed FFfrom Sigma 50mm T1.5 Cine Prime PL Mount High-Speed FFcombines the same high-quality optics and mechanics of its FF prime line with a cine-oriented design that includes Cooke /i Technology that provides lens metadata to assist in post and visual effects production. This 50mm prime with a PL mount is a midrange focal length in the series, offering full-frame sensor coverage, 6 to 8K resolution, fully luminous lens markings in feet, and a T1.5 aperture in a compact, relatively lightweight form.

A common 95mm front diameter and similar physical attributes across the lens line makes it easier and quicker to mount lens accessories such as matte boxes, follow focuses, and lens control motors. The 9-bladed iris produces pleasing out-of-focus bokeh effects and ghosting and flaring have been minimized. Color reproduction is standardized for easier color correction. Each lens in the range offers consistent lens gear positions and 180° of focus barrel rotation. The FF High-Speed Cine Prime lenses also feature a clickless iris with linear markings, dampeners on each gear ring for silent operation, industry-standard 0.8 MOD gear pitch, and engraved markings for durability.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the Rokinon CF line send lens metadata to camera?

A: These fully manual lenses do not communicate electronically to the camera.

Q: 2. Does the Sigma 28mm and 65mm fit this case as well?

A: The 65mm lens is about the same size as the 85mm an should work with the case. The 28mm would fit in one of the spaces reserved for the 20/24/35/50. The case was designed for the following kit of lenses. Sigma FF High-Speed 24, 35, 50, 85 & 135mm Prime Lens Bundle (EF Mount) BH #SICLK7EF

Q: 3. What is the image circle diameter on this lens?

A: The Rokinon 50mm T1.5 DSX High-Speed Cine Lens (EF Mount) covers a 36x24mm image plane, and is intended for use with full frame sensors.

Q: 4. Does this provide Full Frame coverage or 2 x crop when used on a full frame sensor?

A: This is an MFT mount lens. It will be subject to the crop factor of whatever MFT mount camera it is on.

Q: 5. Can this Lens be used only for pictures, not for film

A: The Rokinon 50mm T1.5 DSX be used for film and photos.

Q: 6. Does this lens support auto focus / DPAF?

A: It does not. This is a manual focus cinema lens.

Q: 7. Does the lens communicate with Red DSMC2 bodies? The DS line does not give focus distance or iris readings. It'd be amazing to have this feature on the DSX line.

A: no this will not provide EF metadata. it is a passive EF mount

Q: 8. What are the exact interior and exterior dimensions of this case?

A: The listed dimensions of this case are: Interior: 22 x 17 x 8 Exterior: 24 x 19.5 x 12.2

Q: 9. I know this lens is built for full-frame but I'm curious about the coverage if adapted to the Fuji GFX mount. Extreme vignette?

A: Full frame lenses like the Rokinon XEEN CF 50mm T1.5 Pro Cine Lens (EF Mount) would have a bad vignette when mounted to a medium format camera like the Fuji GFX, as the image will not full cover the sensor.

Q: 10. What is the minimum focus distance for this lens?

A: The minimum focus distance is 1.5'.

[ARRI PL] If you're doing a prime lens, you'll be fine. The color is good and it's crisp. It has less cat's eye than a canon cn-e and Zeiss CP. A Sigma cine zoom lens is another story. The focus breathing is real!

[43.3 mm] I bought this as part of a set. Lens is amazing. Sharp, light, and well built. For the money you cant go wrong

[82 mm] This lens is breathtaking. At T1.5 it gets a fantastic creamy look that is not achievable with the 85 or 135. I highly recommend.

[50mm] I've used ROKINON lenses which were quite above average. The Sirui anamorphic lens was even better. I just finished my first feature using the Sirui. Now that I just used this Meike FF on my Bmpcc4k for my trailer.... I am just blown away by the depth of field, bokeh and color depth of this lens. The quality, the weight, the build quality is on par to a much more expensive cine lens. This is the range of a 5k plus cine lens. I'm planning on buying the other focal lengths as well

[T16] This 85mm is a new addition to my Sigma lens set. I already use the 20, 24, 35 and 50, and they are all simply fantastic. First off, these lenses are FAST! 20mm T1.5??? Whaaat? That's madness. Next, they are all incredibly sharp wide open. No need to stop down to get a nice, crisp image. And with the sharpness, comes a beautiful creamy bokeh and great texture and colors. Add to that a (relatively) small size for a cine lens, a nice focus throw/rotation for super accurate focus, beautiful build quality and 8K ready, and you have an excellent tool for many years to come.

[ARRI PL] I just started using the Sigma FF lenses and shot in a very humid location. No internal condensation seen. These lenses have a much higher resolution as far as sharpness and critical focus goes as compared to my previous cine style lenses. Robust build to say the least. I haven't noticed any chromatic aberration at all. Looking forward to using these on feature work!

[43.3 mm] I compared many lenses in this range, and it came down to these and the Tokina Vistas. The Tokina's had a beautiful image, but for $6k a lens, I was sure if the value was there.

So I pulled the trigger on a set of these sigmas, and I couldn't be happier. It's the best value for the dollar. I've used their art photo line, but these seem to have a better resolution, they are crispier, and the bokeh falls off like butter. You won't find a better value for the price. The next level up is $6-7k, then $10k

[ARRI PL] We're getting several lenses from this new Sigma Cine line and our first 50mm just showed up. Build quality is like a TANK and these lenses resolve higher with less chromatic aberation or halation than the Zeiss Classic / CP.2 wide open at T1.5. We've tested this ourselves on 2 Scarlet-W REDs and the results were amazing. We're 100% sold on the Sigma lenses for much of our day to day work.
