The 67mm Bower 67mm Variable ND Filter 2-8 Stopfrom Bower 67mm Variable ND Filter 2-8 Stopgives you the capability of shooting with high-speed film or high ISO settings on your digital camera, even in direct sunlight. ND filters reduce the amount of light that reaches your film or your sensor, and this variable ND filter allows you to choose just how much light you want to block from 2 to 8 stops. To adjust the amount of light, simply turn the adjustable dial for a seamless adjustment.

With the variable ND filter on your lens, you can control both the exposure time and depth of field in your photos. Without an ND filter, most cameras do not have a shutter speed fast enough to allow you to shoot wide open in bright conditions. By adding an ND filter, you can blur your background and isolate your subject, even under direct sunlight. You can also shoot very long exposures, which is useful for landscape and architecture photography. Exposing your shot for a long period can make people, clouds, cars, and other moving objects seemingly disappear from your images.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I have a vivitar 0.43x wide angle filter that accepts 62mm filter threads. I'm considering getting this Bower 62mm Variable ND filter and a 58-62 step up ring so I can use it on both the wide angle filter and my Canon G40's lens. My question is; would there be any amount of vignetting that would render the use of the ND filter on the wide angle filter pointless? How much of a vignette should I expect?

A: I can confirm what Roland said, this filter becomes unusable at its maximum/darkest setting. Roll it back just a bit and it's fine, but do keep that in mind.

Q: 2. Does this filter have a hard stop at each end of the range? My 62mm Bower variable ND does, just wondering if this version does as well. Thanks.

A: Yes, this filter has hard stops.

Q: 3. Hi, I would like to know about the quality of this filter. Is it pro level?

A: Yes it is. Goid success

Q: 4. What size and type of lens cap works with this filter?

A: This filter will have a 67mm front thread that will work with most 67mm sized lens caps.

Q: 5. The rear thread is 82mm but what size is the front thread?

A: Same tread on each side of the filter.

Q: 6. Is this filter compatible with a Canon 50mm 1.4?

A: Yes, the Bower 58mm Variable Neutral Density Filter is compatible with the Canon 50mm f/1.4 EF USM lens.

Q: 7. Can I stack another 58mm filter on top of this one?

A: The Bower 58mm Variable Neutral Density Filter has a 62mm front threading. If you want to stack another filter in the front it would need to be a 62mm filter. Alternatively you can put the other 58mm filter in bottom and this one on top. Always be careful to avoid vignetting when stacking filters.

Q: 8. is this filter compatible with Pentax 58mm lens?

A: I have used this filter with Canon lens. No problem. Also have mounted the filter in front of a HOYA uv filter. No problem. While I have not used it with any PENTAX lens, I would expect that there will be no problem since the mounting thread for 58mm is standard.

Q: 9. What is outside diamater? I want to attach a screw in hood.

A: The outside diameter is 62mm.

Q: 10. Are their both inside and outside threads on this filter so that it can be included anywhere in a stack?

A: I note it is threaded on both sides.

[0.18 lb] Those variable ND filters are PERFECT. I love the fact that is does not have infinity rolling, so you actually know when you're at the minimum or maximum filter value. Just like a regular iris. Way better than the others brands, where there's no physical limit so you can turn it all the way to the max, and suddenly switch to the minimum value...

[72 mm] If you understand how this filter works and use it properly you will get excellent results. At first I was wary because of some of the negative reviews along with the price, however both points I have proved wrong. First you don't have to spend hundreds to get a good filter, second some people have no business writing reviews. Yes the dreaded X effect it is easy to achieve especially at wide focal range but it is also rather easy to eliminate, If you have the flexibility. Note all these filters have this limitation since they are basically just two polarizing filters. I found no distortions or color problems out of the ordinary and have easily gotten all the results we buy these types of filter for. With this 95mm size using step-down rings I can use this on three of my lenses. I have noted some have mentioned not being able to use lens hoods, not sure how hoods would be used conveniently with a rotating filter to begin with. And the only time I use a lens cap is when I am done for the day. The filter feels solid and well made and the ring moves nice and smooth with no loose play, the filter also comes with a really rugged hard shell case and a lifetime warranty. I have a number of filters some Bower, Hoya and B+W that were way pricey but the 95mm B+W Variable ND is just way over priced IMHO So in the end glad I went with this it has proven I don't need to overpay to get good results

[0.18 lb] Very easy and precise adjustment of the amount of light entering the lens with this filter. I use it to reduce light intensity in order to use low speeds at panning shots of cars

[Multi Coated] I do not use this a lot, but when I do it performs as I would expect on my D750 and associated lenses. Would buy it again.

[0.18 lb] I haven't had any problems focusing with this filter when set to the lower stops. I haven't tried to focus with the darker side 6-10 stops, but would think any camera would have a problem. Seems to be well made for the price.
