This three-pack Earthworks FW730 FlexWand 30kHz Cardioid Choir Mic 3-Packfrom Earthworks FW730 FlexWand 30kHz Cardioid Choir Mic 3-Packincorporates a highly sensitive 30 kHz FlexWand microphone built into a height-adjustable gooseneck stand. The entire microphone system is sleek, easy to set up, and reproduces audio with incredible detail. The integrated low-profile stand features internal cabling with an XLR connection on the bottom, reducing unsightly cables that can create noise. The height is adjustable from 1.5 to 7', making it easy to position the mic above a choir or group of singers, while the round, cast-iron base ensures stability.

Setting up the microphone is easy, simply connect a microphone cable (sold separately) to the base, supply the mic with 48V phantom power, and you are ready to go. Earthwork's patented high-definition microphone technology accurately reproduces frequencies up to 30 kHz that enhance subtleties and detail. A windscreen is included to reduce noise from air currents and vocal plosives.

Ideal for miking choirs and vocal groups

Cardioid polar pattern focuses audio capture on sound in front of the mic, picking up less sound from the rear and sides.

Frequency response of 30 Hz to 30 kHz

Near perfect polar response

Large flex section near the center of the stand that couples the stand and the wand

Mini-gooseneck between the end of the wand and the microphone head

The combination of a mid-flex section and the mini flex on the wand provide an infinite combination of placement options between 1.5 and 7'

Substantial improvement in gain before feedback

The near-perfect polar response of the FlexWand allows the use of fewer microphones on choir, with better sound quality, no spotlighting, and excellent rejection of sounds from the rear of the microphone

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this price for one or two windscreens?

A: Price is for one when I bought it.The Auray version is 3 for $8 and they work almost as welltt

Q: 2. What does the output stage box connect to in order to record? Can the PM40 be connected directly to a computer or iPad Pro?

A: The Earthworks PM40 PianoMic Piano Condenser Microphone System has a single stereo 5-pin XLR connector which connects to the input on the included electronics box and feeds to a pair of standard 3-pin XLR output connectors. The electronics box functions as a Y-cable that splits the audio to enable connection to two separate XLR inputs on a variety of devices such as a mixer, amplifier, recorder, camera, or USB audio interface. In order to power the mics, each of the inputs will need to supply 48V of phantom power or you can use standalone phantom power supplies instead. To connect the PM40 PianoMic to a computer, you can use a two-channel USB audio interface such as the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 2x2 USB Audio Interface (B&H # FOSCARL2I23G) or the MOTU M2 Desktop 2x2 USB Type-C Audio-MIDI Interface (B&H # MAM2). The Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 can be used with an iPad Pro running iPadOS, and the MOTU M2 can be used with an iPad running iOS 9 or later. For a more compact mobile interface that can operate with battery power, you can use the IK Multimedia iRig Pro Duo I/O 2-Channel Audio/MIDI Interface for Mobile Devices and Computers (B&H # IKIRIGPRODUO).

Q: 3. Does anyone know the effect the foam wind filters have on the frequency response of a QTC-50?

A: Hi Gordon,A QTC50 with a foam windscreen will experience serious attenuation of frequencies above 20 KHz, and thats for good quality foam. The amount of attenuation will depend a lot on the foam texture and model.Hope this helps,Pedro RochaEarthworks, Inc.Business Development Manager

Q: 4. If you're only using one diameter mic, would you do better with a solid, fixed holder, or will this work just as well?

A: The Auray MC-33CP Clothespin-Style Mic Clips Kit will work just as well as a fixed clip in most scenarios, and will often make it easier to affix as well as remove the microphone to and from the clip.

Q: 5. Can I use my school classroom landline phone (wall jack) instead of a smartphone? What type of cable would I need?

A: No, it is not possible to connect the Zoom PodTrak P8 Portable Multitrack Podcast Recorder to a landline phone for input or output. The PodTrak P8 can connect to a computer via USB and take calls via computer or it can take calls via a smartphone, using the 3.5mm TRRS input.

Q: 6. Do those mics have handling noise, specially if you tap on the grip? How about pops when speaking?

A: If you are using it within range you should not experience any pops at all and many folks who use this system find that there is very little to no handling noise.

Q: 7. I have Behringer 500W PPA system. The system has 2 XLR inputs and 1 1/4 input. I need to use 5-6 Mics at a time on few occasions, I have 2 XLR cables and microphones. I am not sure if I have to connect both units that come with this system to be able to use all 4 mics?

A: This system is essentially two dual-channel receivers. The XLR outputs are for each of the channels. so you would need 4 xlr cables. The 1/4" outputs are the two channels combined. So, if you are short on inputs on your mixer, use the 1/4" outs, but you will have to adjust each individual mic volume on the receivers. If you have 4 mic inputs open on your board, use 4 xlr cables (one for each channel), and you will be able to adjust each mic's volume independently on your mixer.

Q: 8. Can I use this as a mic input while recording to the SD Card?

A: Yes. all audio inputs are available for recording to the SD card (mic and line inputs are available for recording to the SD card)

Q: 9. Do I need to buy cables to go with this bundle? If yes, can you recommend some?

A: This kit comes with everythng you need to get started doing a podcast with two people. No additional purchase is required.

Q: 10. What kind of phantom amp would be recommended for this microphone?

A: The Earthworks M50 requires +48 volts phantom power in order to operate. There are several portable battery powered, as well as AC powered units available. The ART Phantom I is a solid single channel solution. a href= http://bhpho.to/1Amcmmn target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1Amcmmn/a

[Solid-State] I was looking for an SM-81 to record acoustic guitars anyway - it was recommended to me by a friend who teaches recording engineering - and I thought the bundle was too good to pass up. It did not disappoint. The SM-81 is clearly legendary for a reason. I've now made multiple recordings with it, with several different guitars, and the tracks sit perfectly in the mix with no additional EQ and no fuss. Today I tracked a vocal with it and was stunned by how well it captured my voice. Very very impressed with this mic and I'm not sorry I sprung for the extras.

[Mono] I bought this to complete a stereo pair to record chamber music and clarinet. This mic records sound very accurately, and is perfect for my use. Easy 5 stars and recommendation for the price.

[Cardioid] I bought this to replace the omni-directional mic that really caught too much room and ambient noise. It works great...cant believe the difference it made in my sound quality both indoors and out.

[Black] Purchased two SM81-LC - Cardioid Condenser Mic by Shure to use for drum overheads. The bomb! These mics do not color the sound. What you hear when you play is what you will hear out of the mixer. Fantastic mics. I don't have any other instrument condensers to compare them to, and I will never need to. It couldn't get any better than this. I'm using recorderman setup with two additional mics on bass drum and bottom of snare. This is perfect for recording drums. Sounds fantastic on conga too!

[Cardioid] After doing much research I settled on buying 2 of these. I had done some previous recording with 2 SM57's, but the SM81's have a flatter sound. I have only used these to record trumpet, but they sound is great and handles the loud sound and quick response very well. I also bought a Fathead Cascade to put right at my bell, and I personally like that sound better when I'm running only one mic. The 81's are going to sound great in the hall though. I do wish that they made one box for two mics.

[Phantom Power] We bought 4 of these microphones for our Church to replace old Audix microphones. The difference was very noticeable right away. They sound much better than the old ones. After a lot of research, I found out these are the best microphones for the price that's out there. They do seem to pick up sound pretty well, as you can hear people in choir flipping pages in their notebook. Overall, very satisfied.

[End Address] I bought a pair of these to mic my C7 and classical guitar. Although I am still experimenting with various placements, all placements that I have tried have produced excellent results. Seems to be flat and accurate.

[Phantom Power] Replacement because the wires get wrapped around the transmitter by people trying to be neat and they damage the cable. Very nice to be able to just replace the mic w cable.
