Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Would you say pre-amp can do a comparable job as a Focusrite USB interface in making an XLR mic sound great??

A: Yes, the mic preamps in the Sony PCM-D10 Portable High-Resolution Linear PCM Audio Recorder are of good quality and the XLR inputs are capable of supplying phantom power, so you can connect any XLR microphone to the PCM-D10 that you would use with the Focusrite USB audio interface and you should get great results.

Q: 2. Can I power the PCM-D10 with an external power supply? "wall wart"

A: No. The Sony PCM-D10 Portable High-Resolution Linear PCM Audio Recorder is powered using four AA batteries. It does not have an option for powering via an external power supply.

Q: 3. How many volts of plugin power does the recorder supply via the 3.5mm jack?

A: Sony does not specify the specific voltage supplied to the 3.5mm Mic/Line input jack on the Sony PCM-D10 Portable High-Resolution Linear PCM Audio Recorder, however plug-in power is 5V in most cases and it can be assumed that this is the voltage available from this input.

Q: 4. What is the start up time for the D10?

A: This is notspecified by Sony. But it is just a second or two.

Q: 5. does built in mic of D10 is the same quality of D100?

A: Not quite although the D10 is a great sounding machine. It has Inputs 2 x XLR-1/4" TRS Combo Jacks and pretty much everything else you you could want. But you can't expect it to be sonically equal to a recorder at a much higher price point.

Q: 6. Does this offer voice-operated recording?

A: The Sony PCM-D10 Portable High-Resolution Linear PCM Audio Recorder does not offer voice-operated recording.

Q: 7. does it have english manual instruction ?

A: Yes it does.

Q: 8. How to compare the PCM-D10 mics responsiveness to ambient noise both audio & visually (recording meters) to Sony PCM-A10

A: The built-in mics on the Sony PCM-D10 Portable High-Resolution Linear PCM Audio Recorder and the Sony PCM-A10 High-Resolution Audio Recorder appear to be the same. It's the other features of the two recorders that differ.

Q: 9. Instruction manual in English included?

A: Yes it is. Here is the download to the .pdf of the manual as well: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/lit_files/486664.pdf

Q: 10. I want to record 2 wireless lavalier mics but they use 3.5mm output. Can I plug them into the combo XLR-1/4" jacks using a 3.5mm to 1/4" cable?

A: Hi, Diego! Good news! You can plug the recorder into the combo XLR-1/4 jacks using a 3.5mm to 1/4" cable. Regards, Erin

[26 dB] I used this for a church installation on a medium budget. I used two channels for the main speakers, one for a subwoofer and the last channel to drive a remote speaker. I have had no problems with it and it provided me with a really clean sound on all programmes. The security lock out panel cover is great for keeping prying fingers away from the level settings. This is one of my best buys.

[45 W Class A] All of our microphones work well through this unit. We don't use them over a great distance, but our receivers are in a metal rack, so we need external antennae. These are doing well.

[12 to 14 VDC] I like everything about this amplifier. I installed in a cycle room, powering thier sound system. The one space size and the four channels at 100w ea makes this a great fit. No problems at all.

[750 to 890 MHz] I've had this amp for 4 years now and I really couldn't be any happier with it. I've used it for bi-amping tower speakers, powering 4 independent speakers, subwoofers, and with a guitar preamp and cabs. It's performed flawlessly in every application. Plenty of power to boot. You can hear the fans in a quiet room, but not with any music playing. I have a stereo tube power amp with annoyingly loud fans and the ART is whisper quiet in comparison. Definitely recommend this amp.

[5 to 15 mW] Clean sounding amp with excellent transient response and fidelity. I'm using it in my recording studio to run 4 - 12 3-way JBL studio monitors, and the sound is superb. The little automatic fan fires up occasionally when the temp rises, but the noise is minimal, and it only runs for a couple of minutes, then slows back down. Quality of build seems very good.

[45 W Class A] Easy to setup and really like the bezel that keep hands off of the level dials.
