Q: 1. Is the USB cable permanently fixed to the mic?

A: We have bought at least 30 of these over the past 3 years. They all have a USB mini connection on one end that plugs into the microphone itself.

Q: 2. Does this have a screw thread or some other way that it can be connected to a stand to hold it against a wall (as it is supposed to be against a flat surface - either table or wall)?

A: The Olympus ME-33 does not have thread mounting options. This is made to be placed against a flat horizontal surface like a desk.

Q: 3. Can I power the mic thru the USB port with a portable battery pack?

A: This mic is designed to send audio via USB connection, as well as power back to the mic. Theoretically, since it is bus powered, you could use an external battery to power the mic through the USB, but you would not have control over the headphone audio line level output. This is all done on the computer.

Q: 4. Can this be used with an iPad?

A: This is made for direct compatibility with Windows, macOS/OS X. Not iOS devices like iPhones and iPads.

Q: 5. What is the difference between MXL AC-404 and the MXL AC-404Z?

A: The mics themselves are identical. The Z is meant to be part of a Zoom conferencing system. The Z ships with mounting tape, a right angle USB cable and also sports a blue LED to match the Zoom color. The non Z does not sport an LED light. If you have a Zoom system, consider the Z version, otherwise the non Z is fine.

Q: 6. In the previous Q&A it was stated that the USB cord for this microphone was 10' long. We ordered three and all had 6' cables.

A: Our apologies. The cable is indeed about 6' long.

Q: 7. Is this case weather proof?

A: The ANDYCINE Memory Card & Battery Storage Protection Case is not weather-proof.

Q: 8. What is the power source for Olympus ME33?

A: The Olympus ME33 requires plug in power of 1.5 to 5v which is received through the audio cable when connected to an Olympus voice recorder, or similar device such as a camera or laptop that is able to supply this power.

Q: 9. I am interested in microphones like this one, but I am interested in chaining up to 4 of them together. Can you recommend an alternative product?

A: You will need a microphone mixer and USB audio interface to use several boundary microphones connected to a single computer. Q: 10. i need a system of six mics connected in series. is it possible and should i place the order on the number of mics in need a total?

A: Would would need 6 to make a stereo recording and 3 to make a mono recording.

[2.85 lb] Worked perfectly for focus group interviews with about 12 participants spread throughout the room. Extra long cord allows you to place mic where you need it, while small size is very unobtrusive. Would buy again. 5

[Zipper] I use this product for office work (40+ hours a week) and have had it for almost a year- still intact. It is often complimented for its quality and appearance. I highly recommend this keyboard ! The arm rest wasnât of best quality. However, they have affordable ones to substitute that particular item. All in all, worth the purchase. Quality guaranteed. 5

[Zipper] I wasn't sure I'd like a mechanical keyboard.� My IT guy begged me not to go there.� But if I had to describe myself in one word -- it would have to be "Doesn't follow directions." [Black] This is astoundingly good boundary mic for $. Much more solid, heavy, and elegant (both the mic and the inline preamp unit) than I expected. Pattern and noise are just as advertised. For most conference room applications, the room noise (computers, AC, etc.) is going to be much louder than the self-noise of these mics. I will probably pick up more. This version does NOT have a mute button, BTW. B&H delivery and pricing were top notch, per usual! 5
