Experience the best that both sides of the analog world have to offer with the improved 1968 Mk II from Drawmer, a two-channel hybrid FET/tube compressor with dual mono or stereo operation. The 1968 Mk II sports an ultrafast JFET circuit for the compression section, and a warm 12AX7 tube circuit for the amplifier, delivering up to +20 dB of makeup gain.

This 1 RU, soft-knee compressor features six switched attack times (2, 9, 15, 25, 30, and 50 ms) and three fixed release times (100 ms, 500 ms, and 1 second) as well as three automatic, program-dependent release times: 200 ms to 2 sec, 500 ms to 5 sec, and 1 to 10 seconds. Full stereo sidechain facilities are provided via 1/4" inserts, and the 1968 Mk II also brings a few extra tricks to the table as well, including Big and Bigger modes which activate 75 and 150 Hz filters respectively to lessen low-frequency processing and enhance low-end response as well as numerous internal jumpers for customizing performance features, such as removing the soft clip section, or increasing the output level by 6 dB when needed. This compressor includes an AC power cord and an internal voltage switch for global compatibility.

Featured on both channels is a switchable Big and Bigger mode, which applies less processing to the fundamental low frequency but still disciplines the upward associated harmonics. If these frequencies are untamed, they can result in an undesirable boomy or boxy sound.

The result is a solid bottom end with enhanced sub-bass and a smoother, wider frequency response overall. This lets the operator use more compression on an overall mix with less pumping action caused by a kick or bass instrument.

The 1968 MkII provides full sidechain access for connecting an external equalizer for vocal stressing, de-essing, or frequency-dependent compression. You can also connect external instruments and track segments for creating the bass-heavy pumping effects desired in dance music and other musical styles. Each channel has its own sidechain insert, so you can engage in either dual-mono or full stereo sidechain compression.

The outputs of Channels 1 and 2 are monitored on two yellow illuminated VU meters, with a red warning glow to signify approaching clipping. A three-position switch adjusts the meters to show either normal output level, gain reduction, or +10 dB VU mode, which re-scales the meter for users working at extra hot output levels. An output switch selects normal compressor output, hard-wired bypass, or sidechain listen.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is this compatible with my EOS 5D Mark II? Can I get a 1:1 ratio using my (non-macro) 50mm Canon?lens?

A: Yes. The 5D is a full frame camera, so you will get the full 1x field of view with that camera

Q: 2. extender ef1.4 and ef2x connect f24-105 4 is usm to 5d markiii will it work?

A: yes, it works.

Q: 3. Will this work on a Sachtler FSB 8 MK II on a Dana Dolly or Matthews Dutti Dolly?

A: The Sachtler Adapter 75/100 FSB Mk II would allow you to mount the Sachtler FSB 8 MK II on the 100mm bowl adapters of the Dana Dolly or Matthews Dutti Dolly, however using the 75mm bowl adapters included with those dollies along with the included tiedown would result in a more secure setup.

Q: 4. this Canon Extension Tube EF 12 work for my sony 6500 to Canon EF-S 10-18mm f/4.5-5.6 IS STM Lens?

A: I doubt it as the lens mounts are different.

Q: 5. can I use it on 200mm 2.8L II to shorten the distance between me and my subject while doing portrait photography?

A: It's got minimum distance and maximum distance which is very limited and beyond which everything is blurry . This extender tube it's only for macro photography and nothing else !

Q: 6. What kind of results can one expect using Canon's 70-300L? How much closer is focusing improved?

A: Basically you will use this so your Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6L IS USM Lens will be able to focus closer than the lens's native close focusing distance of 3.94' / 1.2 m. We were not able to find information as to how much closer but we would guess that bout 2' would not be unreasonable. People with telephoto lenses by this to do exactly this, get a closer focusing distance. This can be an excellent too.

Q: 7. I have a Canon EOS Rebel T6 with a 18-55mm lens, will the extension tube EF 12II work with it?

A: Yes It will work. As David A. mentions just pay attention to your focus.

Q: 8. Anyone used this with a Canon 50mm F/1.2 L (I'm using a 5D mk iii but assume anyone w/ a 1.2L is using a pro body). Results? Presume it preserves the amazing qualities of the 1.2?

A: With the extension tube, the quality of the lens is preserved quite well.

Q: 9. Where is this Canon extension tube manufactured?

A: Country of origin is Japan.

Q: 10. is this extension work with my canon 60d and lens 18-200 ?

A: The Canon Extension Tube EF 12 II is compatible with both the Canon 60D and the EF-S 18-200mm lens.

[20 Kilohms] By far one of the coolest mics on the market. I was skeptical at first. I used it, and instantly become fan. I can use this mic on literally anything! My clients love the glow of the tube in the mic. It creates a great vibe. You also have full twin topology. If you don't like the way it sounds with the tube engaged, switch it over to FET. Still not satisfied, you can blend between the Tube and FET. It also has an auto-pad feature. This feature alone is AWESOME! It helps out with those clients who do not have mic discipline or just bob from side to side, or just get way too into the song. Great sounding mic, with all the bells and whistles you can imagine! Very flexible and versatile! Must have in your microphone arsenal.

[Metal] The WA76 is not supposed to sound exactly like the modern UA 1176LN as another review has highlighted. The WA76 is an exact replica of the Urei 1176 revision D that was produced in the early 1970s. The current UA 117LN is an amalgamation of revisions C, D, & E. These revisions have minor differences in circuitry dealing with low noise and distortion. The WA76 and UA 1176LN are essentially the same beast, but since they are produced with slightly different circuitry designs, one will hear very subtle sonic variations between the two. Which one you like more is a matter of preference.

[Black] Killer quality and sound. It definitely widens the stereo field a bit. The transformer button wont be for everyone. I tried it on the 2 track and didnt like it, but gave it a go on the bass buss and yeah dude big time.

[13 VA] I wanted to try a compressor to pick up my low tones and knock down some of the peaks while singing live. The only other compressor I had used was a 1 knob on the XENYX1832 mixer. I paired this with a Pro MPA2 pre-amp also an ART product, and been very pleased with it for vocals and an electric guitar. I had been looking around at compressors for a while, and finally just ordered it up. I am glad I did and would do it again. No complaints at all, and have recommended it to my friends already. This was my first purchase from B&H, but will not be my last. Fast delivery even though it was Christmas time. Packaging was also very good.

[Metal] Needed a compressor that would tame dynamics of a singer in a live setting with huge dynamic range. This worked wonderfully.

[+20 dBu] I was swapping XLR cables among different audio equipment feeding my studio monitors. I thought about getting or building an a/b box but after researching I learned about the Drawmer monitor controller. Now I just press buttons instead of pulling and tripping over cables. I also bought a Blackstar bluetooth receiver and added it on the back of the Drawmer. Now I can switch among my iphone on the Blackstar, my phono equipment, and my DAW audio interface. And should I add another set or two of speakers, I can. It's great. And so is B&H.

[+20 dBu] I've been lusting after a physical LA2A for years. I actually first used one in the early 1970's in a radio station, their original market. I've tried a number of plugins, some of which aren't bad. But the weird mixture of tubes, transformers and a light bulb (panel in this case) is just hard to beat. Like all great audio gear, you may cease to notice it when it's there, but you'll truly miss it when it's not there. I have a number of wildly dynamic singers in the studio, and this just works the magic to make their vocals sit in the mix. And it makes those same vocals bigger sounding at the same time. Is it the best LA2A clone out there? I don't know since I can't test it against all the rest. But it's darn good. BTW, let me put to rest any fears about build quality, etc. This is my second (and won't be my last) piece of Warm Audio kit. Absolutely no issues with the way these beasts arrive and work. Possibly, outside of acoustic treatment, the best investment I've ever made in my studio.

[+21 dBu] If you are looking for a great compressor, try this one. It has everything I need, it's easy to setup all the settings. I'm using it for recording and on the final master of my songs BUT I never use a lot of db reduction... just enough to my ears. If you set the threshold a little too much, it will be over compressed. But when it's used in the good way, it sounds really great !
