Optimized for corner mounting, this 2-pack of matte white Vicoustic Super Bass Extreme Ultra VMT Bass Trap 2-Packfeatures a gray front, and it is designed to provide effective low-frequency absorption between 60 to 125 Hz, delivering maximum effectiveness between 75 to 100 Hz. The VMT front provides sufficient mid-high frequency absorption to control corner reflections. When porous materials such as foam are applied to corners or walls, they become less efficient in dealing with low frequencies, because the particle velocity or air movement associated with long wavelengths is low. However, the sound pressure is at its maximum and Super Bass Extreme's internal membrane transforms these high-pressure fluctuations into air motion. The membrane sympathetically vibrates over a 75 to 100 Hz frequency range, causing the air to pass through a layer of high-density foam that absorbs the low frequencies. Super Bass Extreme Ultra is highly recommended for smaller rooms with low-frequency issues. The panel can be used in different corner positions, and its modular structure allows further units to be added as required.

[2] I had the opportunity to hear these in action at the AES show in NYC in October of 2017. Three units were located in each of three corners of the room. The door was in the fourth corner and this prevented the use of four units. An IR remote control was available to turn the absorbers on and off. With the system off, we played several low-frequency tones and walked around the room observing nodes and anti-nodes. We then switched the system on and the room response was much more consistent. Bass could now be heard where there had been nodes, and it was no longer overpowering where there had been anti-nodes. We could now walk around the room and hear a much more even bass response. After this we played a kick drum track. With the system off, the kick had a boom sound as it decayed. With the system on, the kick drum was a distinct and well damped thump. The difference was stunning. When listening to music, the absorbers smoothed out the bass response, eliminating annoying room-resonance induced peaks and dips in the response. Very impressed. It would take large volumes of passive absorption material to match the performance of these active devices. 5

[2] I bought the Bose 700 soundbar and really liked it. The crisp sounds and Bose app was really good. I told the wife that it really needed a base to finish the sound. So, I bought it. Yes, that was the difference. Now the sound has that humph that it needed. The 700 is really good but you have to get this. You could get the Bass 700, but I don't think you need it unless you have a very large room. 5
