The matte gray Schoeps Colette CMC 1 U MK 41V Stereo Set Matte Grayis a miniature Colette Series microphone amplifier offering uncompromising high fidelity in a lightweight and ultracompact form factor for studio recording, broadcast, and live stage applications. Presented as an alternative to the renowned Schoeps CMC 6 amplifier, the CMC 1 U is compatible with all existing MK mic capsules and Colette active accessories (all available separately).

It features a balanced XLR output, compliance with 12 or 48V phantom power, and low current consumption. Its Schoeps RFI Shield provides high immunity from RF interference for a clean, low-noise signal. Q: 1. Does this kit attaches to a metal pole or the paper roll itself?

A: The paper roll itself.

Q: 2. Will these work with canvas backgrounds?

A: The key to this product is the weight limit. I don't remember what that is- but canvas is usually heavier. The Mfr. says product is for 9' paper rolls. I tried to use this on my 12x10 canvas BG and have had poor results. Canvas is too heavy, distance too far and the plastic chain pull too weak to move the BG. Stick to 9 ft rolls- works great!

Q: 3. Will this work with the Bright Tangerine DNA Matte box? Thanks.

A: No, this is on compatible with Misfit Kick or any other ARRI LMB standard matte box.

Q: 4. Does this fit on a Arri LMB 4x5?

A: This kit does not come with wall anchors.

Q: 6. This system says it has a 22 lb load capacity, but each 9 foot roll weighs about 14 lbs. Will this system support 3 full rolls at once?

A: Yes i always keep 3 rolls attached. Just make sure you properly install the brackets to get the full strength.

Q: 7. Once this is set up for a 107-inch roll, is there any way to use a shorter roll in the future or are you committing to one length of roll forever?

A: Yes, but it might be more work then you might what to do. Use an empty 107 roll and reroll onto the 107 roll the smaller size that you would like to use.

Q: 8. Will this fit a Schoeps CMC641?

A: No, this kit is for use with the Schoeps MiniCMIT microphone. The Rycote Windshield Kit 2 - Complete Windshield and Suspension System (B&H # RYWSK2) is the kit that fits the CMC641.

Q: 9. Is there a way to attach these to stands rather than mount them to a wall?

A: Yes Charles. We used Mafer Clamps (see below) and mounted the Impact hooks to the flat side of the Mafer. You can then attach the Mafer clamps to stands, or auto polls (see below) as needed.

Q: 10. Does anyone have any input on this product? Will it work for 9 foot rolls?Thanks!

A: Yes, we use it for 9ft rolls in our studio (kept the paper on cardboard rolls). Very sturdy. Works great, cardboard tubes from the paper rolls start to warp over time (up for 8 months; could switch the paper over to a pvc pipe if warping gets worse). The only thing to look out for is paper doesn't stay rolled very well because there is nothing to keep it wound up. If you have high ceilings won't be an issue. It's a great system. for the price.

[0.72 lb] I am using this for recording violin, acoustic guitar, mandolin, and piano, and all sound great. I already own the mk4 and love it, but wanted something a little more directional that can reject some of the room noise, since I am not recording in a totally isolated environment. The mk41 sounds just as good as the mk4 and definitely cuts down on any background noise. Only downside is that I have less leeway to move around when recording, whereas with the mk4, which has a wider capture, it's a little more forgiving. But I got the mk41 specifically for this purpose to just focus on what's directly in front of it, and it's doing the job even better than expected without any loss of quality or musicality in the tone. Love it! And plus one for B+H's amazing customer service. They were extremely helpful. 5

[1.3 oz / 36 g] I use a pair of these for my MS setup(cmc1’s, mk8, mk22). When these were released in 2019 it was welcomed with open arms. I went from a 13” to 6.7” Rycote windshield. Amazing! Size and weight is a big deal for me as I hike to my locations and I carry the mentioned MS setup plus an ORTF(2 ccm4’s). They perform excellent as expected and they draw less battery power than the CMC6. I had no reason to not own a pair. 5

[20 Hz to 20 kHz] They're Schoeps so there's little to say about that. I've used this stereo set in a variety of ways. From recording choirs to field recording train stations and dance rehearsals. They're crystal clear and capture sound exactly as you hear it. It's incredible how compact they are. The preamps are compatible with other Schoeps Colette capsules so there's a lot of modularity you can get with this set. You're making a big investment with this stereo set and you get what you pay for. 5

[1.4" / 36 mm] In short: low self-noise, improved isolation from room reverb, balanced frequency response, needs an audio recorder with quality preamps I used to run a shotgun mic into my Canon C70 for all my interviews, indoor or outdoor, and now my workflow and quality has improved dramatically. I find this microphone well balanced across the frequency range, with soft s sibilance and no boominess in low or mid-range frequencies. It does a slightly better job at isolating from room reverb, which results in greater source sound clarity. You need to pair this mic with the clean preamps of an equally exceptional audio recorder to really appreciate the sound, as the self-noise levels of your camera preamps can disguise how truly quiet this mic's self-noise actually is. It needed about 15db more gain than my shotgun mic, but between the audio recorder upgrade and this mic my noise floor is now -5db lower than running my shotgun straight into camera. What I hear through my headphones now is truly a natural mirror of real life sound and room tone, not merely an interpretation of it mixed with the hiss of camera preamps. Hard to describe until you A/B test for yourself, but it is the most natural sounding microphone I've ever used! 5

[1 Kilohm] Schoeps says that there's no discernible difference in sound quality, but when I heard this one, I put my CMC6 up for sale immediately. The higher SPLs do make a difference; and to my ear the CMC1 has a more clean and transparent sound to it. I know that sounds lame, but it's hard to describe. This CMC1 is amazing. HIGHLY recommended. 5

[1.3 oz / 36 g] I've only used it once so far for and indoor scene but I couldn't help but notice how it performed over my Sennheiser MKH 416. True, the MKH 416 is better equipped for outside but up until now that was all I had. I loved how if my actors were slightly off from their spot or turned their heads I suffered no roll-off problems at all. The over all tone of the voices was so clear and natural. I can't wait to use this mic on a larger scale. 5
