[3/8"-16 Male] I got this to help kids taking video. I set it up for them, and liked the lever arms for raising the height. Seemed very sturdy and it did the job. At 1/2 the price of other monopods. it's a winner.

[1] The Cobra 2 monopod was one of my favorite purchases last year, and one of my only frustrations with it was it was sometimes difficult to get it standing back up perfectly vertical. One of the uses for my monopod is in my podcast studio for my side angles, there isn't enough room for a tripod, so I stand these up against the wall. It is necessary to get them perfectly vertical so they do not tip over. WIth the new base, not only is the footprint wider for more stability, the pedal mechanism returns it to perfectly vertical every time, allowing me to put a LOT more trust in the monopod. I also love the adjustable tension, and the fact that it came with an additional quick release plate which I have now attached to a ballhead so I can easily swap between video and photo heads.

[Yes] This is no doubt the best monopod ever created in the history of the universe. Strong, versatile and efficient. Even the carrying case is magnificent. Be aware that while you can mount your camera directly to the top of the monopod, its more efficient and versatile to mount a ball head onto it with a quick release for your camera. You can also remove the ball head from the monopod thru the Cobra's quick release. My only negative complaint is that the awesome carrying case is not long enough to accommodate leaving the ball head on the monopod. . .it will have to be removed to fit into the case. Then, when you are loading up your equipment for a photo excursion, to remember that you need to take the ball head with the monopods attached quick release with you in addition to the monopod in the carrying case. I suggestion iFootage to add an additional 4-5 inches of carrying case length.
Other than this, this monopod is sturdy and not wobbly as those that don't have a tripod base as the cobra does.

You won't be disappointed in purchasing this Cobra monopod.

[3/8"-16 Male] Everything about this sturdy unit is so well thought out and intuitive. The quick release system paired with a Manfrotto fluid head and the removable tripod feet make setting up an impromptu hi-hat a real breeze. The only knock against it might be the weight, but if sheer ruggedness if what you're after you won't find a better monopod out there.

[Aluminum Alloy] Even with the price, I was shocked at the build quality...this thing is hefty in a good way! The quick release system wasn't a headliner for me, but an added bonus--has the same high quality as the rest of the base. I purchased this base because of the pedal release system. It works by depressing the pedal to unlock the ball head then pushing it again will allow the monopod to lock when the head is completely vertical (until then you can still move the ball head as expected). I've seen some comments that it's not great for landscape photography since it can't be locked in any position except upright but for videography, the ability to quickly lean up to ~60d is great. My only negative is the friction wheel is a hard plastic that can be hard to grip and/or adjust given it's position directly above the pedal. All in all, though, a great purchase!
