The Tiffen 67mm Pro-Mist Filter for Photographyhelps to reduce the value of the highlights while noticeably lowering the overall contrast. This filter is especially useful for smoothing out and softening facial wrinkles and other blemishes. While designed for use with movies, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or soft focus filter, Pro-Mist filters provide little loss of detail across the image. The 1 density provides more contrast and highlight reduction than the 1/2, but less than the 2, while also allowing for a soft, pastel-like quality of light.

Tiffen filters are made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. will this fit canon rf 28-70?

A: Yes this filter is compatible with the Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L USM.

Q: 2. Thank you for your answer, have a XF 35mm F/2 and I know I need a 43mm but there's not any of that measurement for CineBloom or Black Pro-mist so ... is there any kind of adaptor? Thank you!

A: Yup! You'll need a step-up ring like this one: https://bhpho.to/3iy6C6R

Q: 3. Anyone know if this fits into the Lee 100 system?

A: I'm sorry, no, these are 4mm thick and the Lee system is 2mm thick. These filters are meant to go in video matte boxes that take 4mm thick filters.

Q: 4. If I am shooting a longer lens like 85mm or 135mm will the intended strength of this beauty filter be considerably weaker with such a long focal length?

A: The rule of thumb is that you increase the strength of the filter with the focal length. Depending on the desired look, I use 1/8 for wide angle lenses up till 28mm and then use 1/4 from 35mm-75mm and if needed I use 1/2 from 85mm and upwards to keep a fairly consistent effect on all focal lengths. Obviously it depends on your preference and how strong an effect you want.

Q: 5. I'm looking for a filter to give that soft focus old Hollywood look. Do I want the ⅛, ¼, or ½?

A: 1/8 or 1/4 is best and what most people use. It will give you the look your after.

Q: 6. Which thread size should I purchase for a Sony 24-70mm 2.8?

A: Look it up and see what filter size (thread size) it takes.

Q: 7. Will the 1/8 reduce the overall amount of light hitting the camera sensor? If so, by how much (approximately)?

A: No, there won't be any light loss.

Q: 8. for shooting slog / flat profiles in 10bit, indoors/less than ideal lighting, would it make sense to get a weaker pro mist, like 1/8?

A: The pro mist filter is a filter and really does not have much to do with slog. If you want more of the pro most filter look you use a stronger one. If you do not you use less.

Q: 9. Can I mount the 67mm on top of my TCL x100ii teleconverter lens? If not, what size of promist filter should I get for my fuji x100f?

A: The TCL X100II Tele Conversion lens has a 67mm front thread, so this filter can work on it.

Q: 10. How thick is this filter and will it work in a LEE100 Filter Holder?

A: This filter is 4mm thick and is meant for a matte box, it will not fit in the Lee holder. The Lee holder takes 2mm thick filters.

[4.2 x 3.4 x 1"] I use it with Sigma 18-35 1.8 on BMPCC4K. Earlier I had 'heavier' Black Pro Mist 1, but this 1/4 baby does more delicate job.
