Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will these fit over prescription eyeglasses?

A: American Paper Optics Eclipser HD Solar Glasses are curved out, therefor is easy to stack them on top of prescription glasses. However depending on the size of your glasses this product may not be a good fit.

Q: 2. Could I put this on a Micro 4/3rds camera w/Flip out OLED display (and telephoto lens)??

A: The Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm will fit on the front of the lens as long as your lens is between 75mm and 100mm in outside diameter. The filter would not be near the camera so it would not affect the use of the a flip screen.

Q: 3. Repeating Jim's question, which was not answered - what standards do THESE glasses conform to?

A: This is the information off of the manufacture website: "Our plastic Eclipser® HD glasses are independently tested and are ISO and CE certified for the safest direct solar viewing. Not only do they look red-carpet ready, but our plastic Eclipser® HD glasses are manufactured exclusively with scratch resistant polymer (black/silver) material and have an optical density of 5 or greater. These Eclipser® HD Glasses filter out 100% of harmful ultra-violet rays, 100% of harmful infrared, and 99.999% of intense visible light. Our premium filters create the sharpest solar images with an amazing and natural orange color. "

Q: 4. Celestron says “ Never use this filter if your camera has an optical viewfinder.” Does that mean to not use it on a Nikon D500?

A: Because the Nikon D500 viewfinder is looking through the lens that is filtered, it is safe to use the Celestron EclipSmart Universal Solar Filter for Optics 75mm to 100mm with your camera.

Q: 5. What is the interpupillary range? Thank you!

A: Sorry La Scala only list these specifications: LaScala Optics LSI03 Specs Magnification 3x Objective Lens Diameter 25 mm Angle of View 11.2° Minimum Focus Distance 6' / 1.8 m Focus Type Center Battery None Dimensions 4.5 x 2.3 x 2.1" / 11.4 x 5.8 x 5.3 cm Weight 7 oz / 198.5 g Package Weight 0.505 lb Box Dimensions (LxWxH) 5.6 x 3.2 x 2.05"

Q: 6. Can I use this on a Nikkor 200-500mm lens on a Nikon Z6?

A: The outside diameter of the Nikon 200-500mm lens is too large to fit the Celestron filter. You can use this Haida instead: https://bhpho.to/38vHAQw

Q: 7. Do these glasses last longer than the paper ones? I have a pair of paper ones that have some sort of expiration date.

A: Any solar glasses made after 2015 that are not scratched, torn, or coming apart, are safe to use. The frame of the American Paper Optics Eclipser HD Solar Glasses will last longer than paper glasses, but the viewing lens doesn't deteriorate on either type of glasses.

Q: 8. I wear glasses full time. Can I use this over my regular glasses???

A: American Paper Optics Eclipser HD Solar Glasses are curved out, therefor is easy to stalked them on top of prescription glasses. However depending on the size of your glasses this product may not be a good fit.

Q: 9. I'm considering these for my Mom. She wanted some theater glasses stronger than normal. Are these too big to fit into an evening or small purse and/or do you know if they come with a cord or anything to go around the neck? Any other items you recommend I buy along with these?

A: My Mom likes hers. They are approximately 4.5 x 2.75 when opened up, and the barrels are 1.75 at their beltline. The bag they travel in is 4.5 x 6 when laid flat. I don't think there was a chain, but we got a matching brass chain. So they are very nice opera glasses, stronger than the usual glasses. One thing, we had to put a little bit of medium thread lock on the set screw to keep it from working loose--easily done. Can't think of any other accessories that would be needed.

Q: 10. Can one eyepiece be focused to better match eye differences?

A: Agree with the previous answers.

[Polymer] I think these will stay on one's head, and seem quite dark. I trust B&H to sell something that will work for the eclipse, optically.

[0.1 lb] Used these for the recent Total Eclipse - and I can still see perfectly weeks later! I'm protecting and saving these specs for my next chance in Iceland August 2026.

[6 x 5 x 1.8"] These seem well made, and offer good coverage of the eyes. Tried them out pre-eclipse and the full disk of the sun is comfortably visible.

[6 x 5 x 1.8"] The paper ones don’t fit well but are less money. I bought these and the eye coverage is better, the fit is better so they are comfortable to wear. Just personal choice and now will have these for the next eclipse or solar photography
