Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this support attaching a web cam or do I have to purchase anything extra? What is needed to add a light?

A: Yes, the Manfrotto 2-Section Double Articulated Arm with Camera Bracket can support attaching a Web Cam using the 1/4"-20 screw on the Camera Bracket. If your Web Cam has a 1/4"-20 female receiver on it, there will be no problem connecting the two. As this arm is an accessory for the Super Clamp, do not forget to purchase the Super Clamp. Manfrotto offers the BH #MA035 Another compatible option is the Impact Super Clamp with Ratchet Handle. BH #IMCC106R.

Q: 2. I'm looking for a way to mount a tripod on to a wheelchair using a clamp of some type and a movable arm. Could this be used for that?

A: In that situation this could replace the tripod entirely. You would need a magic clamp to attach this arm to the wheelchair, though. But be aware that, once secured, every small vibration of the wheelchair would shake the camera.

Q: 3. How would I set up the Manfrotto 196B2 to clamp onto an art easel and hold a IPad PRO ?

A: You would need a Super Clamp to clamp itnto the easel, then the arm connects to the clamp. Youll also meet an iPad case that includes a tripod mount, such as the Makayama Movie Mount.

Q: 4. Hello. How well would a Panasonic DC-FZ80 fit in this bag? Everything I see seems way too small. Thanks!

A: The Newswear Camera Body Pouch is too small for the Panasonic Lumix DC-FZ80 Digital Camera.

Q: 5. Each end has a threaded female fitting. What size are EACH of the fittings? 3/8 , 1/4 , both or one of each?

A: On one end the fitting is 3/8 and on the other end it is 1/4 .

Q: 6. A quick question; the product description talks about the item having a 1/4 thread but is it referring to the connection on the bottom of the arm or the top? I want to connect it to a Manfrotto 241FB.

A: One end of this arm has a 1/4 thread, the other end has a 3/8 thread. Since the arm is totally symmetrical it can be mounted on either end to fit the appropriate mount.

Q: 7. Is there an owners manual we can download ?

A: At the moment Ricoh has not released the manual of the THETA X 360° Camera. Please stay tuned for updates on this camera as more items and documents are going to be made available for the X 360.

Q: 8. Is the tripod socket plastic or metal? It looks plastic in the product photos.

A: The Ricoh THETA X 360° Camera's tripod threading is made of metal.

Q: 9. Will this work with a baby pin wall plate?

A: It could be used with a baby receiver.

Q: 10. I have a super clamp to mount this to my mobility scooter but it doesn't tell how much weight it will support. I have a D800 with battery grip and I will want it to be able to hold that with my Tamron 150-600?

A: the super clamp will hold it, but the arm joints are a little weaker than I need them to be. I use this for my photo booth with a canon 60D and a 18-55mm lens, it bounces a lot when I barely touch it. I would say spend a little bit more and get one that's a little more heavy duty, especially with a battery grip attached and the heavy lens. good luck to you!

[55 lb] Perfect for what it does

[55 lb] I heartily recommend the NISI macro rail. I use it on a very sturdy tripod with a large ball head employing an arca-swiss mount. The rail is well built, with no slop in its smooth movements.

The worm gear enables very precise movements. For my purposes I tend to use .5mm slices for focus stacking. If particular you could easily refine that down to .01 mm per image. Once locked down on the tripod head, everything is very stable.

Some reviews have mentioned unwanted creeping. I have not run into that. My setup is a relatively heavy D850 with an old school 200mm Micro lense mounted via the lens foot. This is a pretty good workout for the rail. It has worked like a champ, with no unwanted movements. I even put it pointing nearly straight down, at something over 80 degrees, focused carefully on a tiny detailed pattern. After 10 minutes, the image remained perfectly focussed when looked at on 100% live view magnification.

Other reviewers have complained that the clamp doesn’t open up wide enough to accommodate their plates. Yes and no. If you read their complaints carefully you realize that they want to do drop the plates in vertically instead of sliding them in. Yes, it is correct that standard arca-swiss plates won’t drop in easily. However the clamp opens up readily such that you can slide your set up into it and tighten it up securely.

Not all is perfect. Those little feet for table top use seem inadequate and I simply unscrewed them. The movement effort needed to twist the rail’s clamp to change orientation is pretty darn stiff. Note, to fit the rail in its provided sack for protection, the 2 knobs need to be inline with the rail direction, which is 90 degrees off from how I prefer setting it up.

All in all this is a great rail for precision macro work.

[Metal] The tooling on the rail is solid so it performs exactly as you would like. I found the legs to be unnecessary, but no worries they are easily unscrewed.

[Metal] Works as advertised. I don't think the other reviewers that had trouble with the plate, opened the jaws wide enough. I opened it wide and had no trouble with getting my plate in. Well made.

[Metal] Rearranging furniture put a bookcase in front of a useful outlet and the Maximm 3' cable was perfect for making the outlet available at one side of the bookcase. And the flat plug made it possible to keep the bookcase as nearly flat against the wall as possible, something an ordinary extension cord wouldn't allow. We love it.
