The 39mm Tiffen Black Pro-Mist Filter 39mm Grade 1/8helps to reduce the value of the highlights while slightly lowering the overall contrast. This filter is especially useful for smoothing out and softening facial wrinkles and other blemishes. While designed for use with movies, this filter can also be used for fashion and beauty applications. Unlike a traditional diffusion or soft focus filter, Pro-Mist filters provide little loss of detail across the image. The 1/8 density provides less contrast and highlight reduction than the 1/4, while still allowing for a soft, pastel-like quality of light.

Q: 1. Whats the difference of this circular polarizing on the linear? Is circular polarizing works on auto-focus SLR cameras, because I have read about that they are not recommended for auto-focus SLR cameras. How true?

A: Circular Polarizer are designed for autofocus cameras. Most lenses cannot autofocus with a linear polarizer. If you want to use an autofocus lens you should choose a circular polarizer.

Q: 3. can I use this filter on the canon 10-22 wide angle lens?

A: Yes, you can use it in your 10-22 mm. Nevertheless, you will see very strong vigneting in 10 mm. I believe you are not have this problem from 16 to 22 mm

Q: 4. Can I use this filter on a Pentax 18 - 135 mm?

A: As the Pentax SMC DA 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 ED AL (IF) DC WR Lens, B&H # PE18135, uses 62mm front filter threads, yes, the Tiffen 62mm Circular Polarizing Filter, B&H # TICP62, would be compatible for use with the Pentax SMC DA 18-135mm F/3.5-5.6 ED AL (IF) DC WR Lens.

A: The uv haze 1 cuts out more uv haze.

Q: 6. Will this work with a canon 10mm macro 2.8 L is lense?

A: cannot answer directly but i did hesitate w/ the wide angel lens. set a straight edge (carefully) across the front of the lens and if the front glass is below the edge w/o touching a filter should be okay, otherwise you will need to stack some rings to gain clearance.

Q: 7. Using a Full Frame with a 20mm lens (sony fe 20mm f1/8), which is around 94 degrees FOV, would I need the wide angle version of this?

A: According to Tiffen Technical Support: We would recommend the Wide Angle filters, especially if you are shooting on a full frame sensor camera.

Q: 8. Is anyone else having issues threading this to the new Fujifilm XF33 f1.4 lens?

A: Tiffen 58mm UV Protector Filter is fully compatible with FUJIFILM XF 33mm f/1.4 R LM WR Lens. since they are the same thread size. Look closely at both threads and verify if their are any deffects on the threads which is preventing the items to screw in.

Q: 9. Will this fit the Sigma 35mm dg dn f2?

A: Yes, the Tiffen 58mm Circular Polarizing Filter will fit the Sigma 35mm DG DN F2 lens.

Q: 10. i need to buy a uv filter for tokina 11-16mm pro DX-II lens. can you tell me if this is the right uv filter to buy or do I need to get the more expensive uv filter for a wide angle lens?

A: I tend to buy the middle of the line filters for my lenses...I mainly use them for glass protection. Protecting $800 - $1500 lenses is of an extreme high priority for me. As for a UV, it probably would not make a difference whether you purchase bargain or top dollar so spend wisely...

[39 mm] I use this softening filter in certain landscape situations, not necessarily for portraiture. And guess what, that can be lots of fun! I use it with my 105 Nikor micro lens occasionally and can get the most dreamy look, just gorgeous. No kidding. I also have the 77mm size, pro mist 3 for the 70-200 zoom. Really can't tell much difference between the #2 and #3 strength. Get the black version if you don't want some halos around the highlights. I like the halos personally. The more backlighting or highlights with light areas, the more halos

[4 x 3.5 x 0.6"] Im a big shooter of night time and neon lights. I always wanted to make my light have a glow while maintaining contrast in the shadows.
This is the filter for you if you have ever wanted the same thing! And for the price it’s an easy pick up!
I don’t even take it off. Ever. The softness on the skin in my portraits is perfect while keeping my subject tac sharp!
If you thought about it. Stop. Buy it!

[39 mm] I bought the 1/4 and 1/8 Black-Pro-Mist filters for myself recently but I have been using them for years on a number of productions and they always help in achieving the 'look' that so many modern filmmakers desire. There's a reason why their diffusion filter is so trusted and praised even years after the competition has had time to catch up.

You get so much value for your money and you can honestly never go wrong with using either of these filters.

[Glass] I use it with Sigma 18-35 1.8 on BMPCC4K. Earlier I had 'heavier' Black Pro Mist 1, but this 1/4 baby does more delicate job.

[Glass] Great all purpose filter. Definitely smooths skin and blooms highlights for a modern cinematic look. 1/4 is strong enough for most situations while not being too strong to be distracting.
