[16 TB] I call my new drive my Big Black Box and it's build like a tank. Loaded over 35T of data via time machine in just 2-3 days which is much faster that other drives I've used. Only had it about 10 days but so far, so good!! Happy the B&H tech (forgot his hand- my bad) suggested this vs the G-raid.

[Aluminum] an absolute power house for larger and longer jobs. this rad is a tank and insanely fast especially with the new cards and resolutions and information coming out on cameras. downloads an alexa s35 card full in 20 minutes.

[16 TB] I think this is a fine drive. It's fast, quiet and runs cool. I've been using it for a week so far putting it through the demands and have had no issues.

Their warranties seem to be terrific. Hopefully one doesn't need to use it, but the fact that they can overnight a drive to you if yours goes down is a big plus.

[macOS] I do photography which takes up a lot of room. I had 6 external drives totaling 12T. This drive replaced all of them as well as doing an automatic backup. I was also able to eliminate one docking station and 2 USB extenders. My office is so much neater. Well worth the price. One thing to note - check your power settings to have this drive on all the time as it takes a bit to come up after being powered down.

[16 TB] After using some smaller Glyph hard drives, I fell in love with them. I decided to give this bad boy a shot and I couldn't be happier. I will not go back, I'm in on Glyph from here on out. Reliable, awesome service and a wonderful product. Built like a tank.

[10.88 lb] Changing RAID modes on this box in quick and painless with the included RAID configuration utility. The device includes backup software but I prefer to use Macrium Reflect. In RAID 0 mode the drive can easily sustain over 120 MB (mega BYTEs not megabits) per second on a capable hosted server over USB 3.0 It is likely even faster over USB 3.1. When I outgrow this I will be buying a newer larger version starting with Buffalo's products. The B & H purchase was awesome as usual!

[16 TB] One of my new years resolutions/projects was to get away from HDD/spindle drives completely and get my entire digital life on SSD. This would require a 16TB drive and the only two choices at this time were the Glyph Blackbox and Oyen Digital MiniPro RAID V4. I use a Glyph 2TB Blackbox at work and it seems stable and solid. But I chose the Oyen for a few reasons.

The price difference of $600.

The RAID option to have two separate SSDs actually works better for my purpose. I have an inflexible, rigid archive of files that is just under 8TB and just fits in one of the drives, and I use the other drive for current projects and files.

The ability to daisy chain was the deal maker for me, and requires the power adaptor which is provided. After reformatting both drives I successfully transferred the 8TB archive files over although it took FOREVER going thru a USB A hub. Now that I think about it, I am surprised how many drives on the market (both SSD and HDD) don't have daisychaining.

I have always been a believer in solid state memory going back to the microdrive vs CF Card photography days at the turn of the millenium. Since that time the durability and speed of solid state has been firmly established, but the prohibitive costs have made it difficult to switch over. While I wouldn't exactly call the Oyen MiniPro RAID exactly cheap, the cost per terabyte ratio is doable for me. And it certainly is nice not to have to wait for HDDs to spin up anymore or worry about moving parts. If the Oyen holds up as well as I hope, I will be getting another to daisychain for a backup unit.
