Impact Resistance Test; samples were exposed to impact using a bar weighing 13.2 lb with a hemispherical end of 1.25". Bar was dropped with its longitudinal axis vertical on to each sample's weakest point from a height of 19.6". Samples were conditioned to a temperature of -4°F before impact exposure.

A series of drops on each edge, corner, and face of the case from a height of no less than 19" and with loads of 15-70 pounds determined by case size. Samples were conditioned at lab ambient conditions and then temperatures of -18 and 140°F for a minimum of 3 hours at each condition.

The cases are tested using test method D-999 to determine the ability to withstand the repetitive shocks occurred during transportation of loose loads.

Simulated rainfall for 2 hours at a rate of 4" an hour. Samples were conditioned to -4 and 125°F.

The case is submerged in a basin of water to a depth of 3.28' to the top most part of the case for 30 minutes. The case is heated to 10°F higher than the temperature of the water. IP67 ingress protection provides total coverage against dust and the effects of immersion between 5.9 and 39.37".

[IP67] I have this set up for RAID 0 for video editing. Very impressed with the speed. The included software is great. I was able to set it up to back up hourly to another drive. Would buy again!

[IP67] After I purchased 2 Thunderbay 8 for my media server, I decided to gue the 4 bay version for my personal computer (All Macs) I used to have the hard drives in cradles, and I was getting corruption issues all the time. After moving to these enclosures I haven't experienced ANY issues with the drives. Did I tell you that the speed performance is unbeatable? From USB 3ish to Thunderbolt makes a BIG difference.

[Black / Pink] Seems like excellent build quality, great enclosure, good drive mounts, etc. My biggest issue right now is with SoftRAID, the included RAID management software. Setup was easy. I purchased the empty Thunderbay so I could add my own drives. Budget was an issue, so I only created the RAID5 array with 3 drives, planning on expanding to a 4th. Then I discovered that it is impossible to add drives like that. You have to completely back up everything, format all drives, rebuild a new array, and move everything back on to do this. Total pain!! Wish I'd known that ahead of time. I would still buy the product, but I would have set it up with all 4 drives the first time.

[IP67] I really like this enclosure. Its a solid product, seems very well constructed and built to last. Easy to set up (though I'm not using the related software) and use.

[IP67] This is not the fanciest RAID enclosure out there. And that is exactly why I like it. Plus, it looks simple / elegant. This thing stores data with great reads / writes over Thunderbolt 2. This enclosure does exactly what it advertises and it works well out of the box. The software was easy to set up and the machine has been reliable. I am certain that I will eventually get another one. SoftRAID takes no noticeable processing power from your host machine. I am really happy with this solution.

[IP67] I have been using this drive bay for over 2 months now set up as RAID 5 and it's performed quite well. It's fast enough for my needs (graphic design, front end web development, photography and vector illustration) and works well to archive files to once I am done working on my SSD. Keeps my SSD 'light' and I have more than enough storage for the type of work I do. I can rest easy knowing that the drive is expandable and can be daisy-chained if necessary. I would say that having this hooked up to the iMac makes it seem as if I'm still working w/ internal storage on my old mac pro, which is essentially where I pulled the drives from. I did have to do a bit of setup to get the RAID going (copy drives, wipe drives, reformat and then configure into RAID 5, then copy data back over.) Wasn't real difficult though... just took a little time.

[13.71 lb] Using 8K Red Footage with very little compression. 2-3TB per day on this tv series and its holding up really well. No problems with it - transfers fast, plays fast barely any startup lag!

Good purchase!
