Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this work on the RP as well?

A: Yes, the Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF to EOS-R with Variable ND Filter would be compatible for use on the Canon EOS RP Mirrorless Camera.

Q: 2. Will this work with the Red Raptor VV ?

A: Yes, the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R will work with the Red Digital camera. We suggest using the following and using 4x4 filters for a more flexible workflow Canon Mount Adapter EF-EOS R BH #CAMAEFRF • MFR #2971C002 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1433717-REG/canon_mount_adapter_ef_rf.html

Q: 3. If using only legacy lenses, a mount adapter would always be needed, but not the ND filter. If shooting when the filter is not needed, would I have to purchase the basic mount adapter, or can I just remove the filter from the adapter?

A: Yes, that is correct. SOMETHING has to be in the filter slot 1) in order to simply keep dust and debris out of the adapter (without the ND filter or the clear filter, there would be a large opening in your adapter on which your lens connects), and 2) as the adapter was designed with the ND filter in mind, the filter becomes part of the optical formula. Without a piece of glass with the same design and size in the slot, it may affect proper focusing. As such, the Canon Drop-In Clear Filter A, B&H # CADICFA, is required when you are not using the ND filter and you do not want the effect of an ND filter on your image.

Q: 4. Will this work on a Komodo?

A: While Canon does not list compatibility of the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter with the RED DIGITAL CINEMA KOMODO 6K Digital Cinema Camera (Canon RF), as the camera uses the Canon RF lens mount, yes, the adapter should be compatible for usage on the Komodo 6K Digital Cinema Camera.

Q: 5. Has anyone used it on an ultra-wide like the Sony 16-35 2.8? I'm worried how it will perform when ultra-wide.

A: The Polarpro filters are excellent and should produce high quality images without any vignetting on the wide end.

Q: 6. Will this holder hold filters made to fit the canon adapter?

A: The Meike Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF to EOS-R with Variable ND Filter is a lens adapter. And comes with a Drop-In Variable ND Filter (ND3-ND500) and clear drop in filter. And is made only for that adapter.

Q: 7. Can this fit on a 16mm - 35 mm lens?

A: Well that depends on which brand lens you have, etc...

Q: 8. According to the video on this item it says that this drop in ND filter adapter also has the "super cool customizable control ring". I feel like BH made an error in that statement. Can anyone confirm or deny that the drop in filter adapter also has the control ring? Thank you

A: Unfortunately, that was an error; the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Variable ND Filter does not have the Control Ring feature. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you.

Q: 9. Does this VND also have polarizer built in.... or should we consider getting the PolarPro fixed ND/PL? Thank you

A: This filter is only a VND, if you want a combo, then the Polarpro ND/CP would be the way to go.

Q: 10. Will this work on Sony 24mm GM with lens hood?

A: You can use this filter with the hood but rotating it would be a task.

[0.245 lb] I purchased this filter so that I could practice shooting the sun before the eclipse. The magnetic design is very innovative.

[67 mm] First time using the Kase magnetic filter system. Used this ND on a trip, and being able to instantly add/remove it from my lens was fantastic. Filter itself worked well without a noticeable color cast. Plan on adding other ND strengths to my kit.

[0.245 lb] This filter is a must-have if you want a close-up of the upcoming solar eclipse. It is very convenient to put on and take off - something you must be able to do to capture a total solar eclipde.

[Glass] Best upgrade I’ve ever made. The magnetic filter system is invaluable especially doing long exposure photography. By the way, B&H is the best.

[Glass] Bought this to compliment my Kase filter set. With an additional step up ring I can use it on all my lenses. Love the simplicity and ease of use of the magnetic ring. Great glass with no color cast has me making better photos. Highly recommended.

[Glass] I've been a user of other magnetic filters but was having a hard time finding one that would fit a 95mm filter that my Sony 28-135mm requires. Then I happened to find this one and decided to give it a try. When it arrived I was impressed with the build quality and like that the magnet is not overly strong, the other system I use is difficult to remove due to the strength of the magnet but this one is easy to remove but not to the extent where I'm worried it would fall off. The price is really reasonable for a filter of this size. I haven't noticed much if any color shift when using it. Overall very satisfied with this filter system and will be purchasing more of them in the future.

[0.245 lb] I changed over to this system and I love it. Filters appear to be high
quality with great image resolution and so easy to use. Magnet appears to be strong enough to keep everything in place. I also bought the 77mm set for my other Nikon lenses. I will not go back to screw in filters.
