Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does Photoelectric mean, the lens adds EXIF data to photos?

A: Photoelectric is just a brand name. 7artisans Photoelectric 12mm f/2.8 Mark II Lens for Canon RF does not add EXIF data to the photos unfortunately.

Q: 2. Would this work on a Nikon Z6ii?

A: 7artisans Photoelectric 7.5mm f/2.8 II Fisheye Lens for Nikon Z is mount compatible with Nikon Z6 II mirrorless camera body. The lens was designed for cameras with APS-C sensor therefore you will need to active the Z6 II crop mode to avoid vignetting.

Q: 3. Can this lens be used on Canon EOS R? And what will be the actual size of the lens with the crop?

A: Using the 7artisans Photoelectric 60mm f/2.8 Macro Mark II for Canon RF will be fine. It will crop the image 1.6 times. So the lens will be like a 96mm lens. And note, you will loose a lot of resolution.

Q: 4. Will this work with a full frame camera? (Canon R6). Or is there some drawback I'm not aware of?

A: The 7artisans Photoelectric 12mm f/2.8 Mark II Lens for Canon RF is designed only for cameras with an APS-C sized image sensor; When used ona a full-frame camera like the R6, it will cause vignetting (dark shadows in the corners of each image).

Q: 5. Does this lens work with Panasonic Lumix GH6 camera? with no separate adapter needed?

A: Yes, the 7artisans Photoelectric 7.5mm f/2.8 II Fisheye Lens for Micro Four Thirds will work on the Lumix GH6.

Q: 6. Will this lens work on a Nikon Z7 ?

A: Yes, the 7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f/1.4 Mark II Lens for Nikon Z would be compatible for use on the Nikon Z7 Mirrorless Digital Camera. However, do note that the Nikon Z7 Mirrorless Digital Camera is a camera with a full-frame sensor, whereas the 7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f/1.4 Mark II Lens for Nikon Z is designed for Nikon Z-mount cameras that use the smaller APS-C 1.5x cropped sensor. so the lens would be the equivalent of an 82.5mm lens when used on the full-frame sensor in APS-C crop mode. Also note that this is a fully manual lens, so you will have to focus manually as well as set your aperture manually as there is no electronic communication between the camera and the lens.

Q: 7. When used on the R5 or R6 does this lens force the camera into 1.6 crop mode with the resulting decrease in megapixels?

A: No, the 7artisans Photoelectric 50mm f/0.95 Lens for Canon RF is a completely manual lens that does not communicate with the camera. As such the camera does not know whether it is a crop lens or not. It is designed for a smaller sensor so you would have very significant vignetting wehn used on full-frame if you do not manually set the camera to crop.

Q: 8. What is the weight of the mark II? It's not listed in your specifications. Thanks

A: The 7artisans Photoelectric 12mm f/2.8 Mark II Lens for Micro Four Thirds weighs 10.41 oz.

Q: 9. is this lens compatible with canon 5d mark 111?

A: No, the 7artisans Photoelectric 55mm f/1.4 Mark II Lens for Canon EF-M is not compatible with the Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR Camera.

Q: 10. Whats the difference between the MK II lens and the normal 12MM? Does it use ED glass like the Cine Version?

A: According to the manufacturer, the five (5) main differences between the original 7artisans Photoelectric 12mm f/2.8 Lens and the new 7artisans Photoelectric 12mm f/2.8 Mark II Lens for Micro Four Thirds are the following: (1) the appearance, optical design, and structure of the lenses are different; (2) the minimum focus distance of the original lens is 0.2 meters (7.87 inches), whereas the minimum focus distance for the Mark II lens is closer at 0.15 meters (5.9 inches); (3) the new Mark II lens adds options for the Nikon Z and Canon EOS R lens mounts; (4) the original lens did not support the use of filters, whereas the Mark II supports 67mm filters; and finally, (5) the new Mark II lens has improved image quality with increased edge resolution and reduced overall distortion. Unfortunately, 7artisans did not mention the presence of ED or aspherical glass elements.

[1.125 lb] I bought several 7 Artisan lenses - this fits the Lumix G95 far better than the 50mm F.095 for infinity / distance shooting. It is remarkably good glass, solid build and light weight. It is certainly sharp at slightly before F2 and onward. I have found it to be a very useful bit of Kit. The two photos show full frame and then a crop of the Moon - at F 8 - 10. It also has very good color rendition. At the price point it is an incredible buy.

[1.125 lb] I tend to only buy Nikkor lenses but Nikon doesn't have a Z-mount prime in this focal length yet. It is manual focus which does not matter to me. Very well made and solid with a nice design. Sharp and light. The price was right so I thought I would take a chance, glad I did.

[67 mm (Front)] I had not so good luck with two other 7artisans lenses but this one is great!
The Fuji mount fits very tightly, but this is not a show stopper.
The optics are very good and central sharpness wide open is excellent. Corner to corner, it sharpens up extremely well by F5.6. I shoot mostly landscape and in low light wide open it is surprisingly sharp across the frame.
It has a large rear element and I've not noticed much vignetting.
Focus and aperture rings move smoothly. No detents for aperture and I would prefer detents, but again this is not a show stopper.
I haven't seen much Flare, if any.
Bokeh near and far is very nice, no onion rings seen.
This is a low cost fully manual (no electronics) lens, so I don't expect it to be equal to Zeiss Otus lenses, but I have been thrilled with its high performance, definitely punching above its weight optically.

[4.8 x 4.3 x 4"] You do realize that the lens has a 49mm filter thread for filters so if you actually lost the lens cap you could buy a 49mm lens cap for about $2 and pop it straight on.

[Canon RF] Bought this lens for doing Landscape and star trails. The lens really surprised me with the build quality and butter smooth turning of the focus. The Aperture stops have clicks which I like. I use this lens on my Nikon Z6II. Doing star trails with this lens is simply fantastic. The color rendition of the glass and beautiful star effects on bright lights simply looks great. Great sharpness too. Anyone looking into getting a wide landscape/Astro lens should really consider this lens. I plan on purchasing more lenses from 7artisans. As always, BH Photo service is second to none.

[5] Everyone who buy 7artisans lens should expect to spend 5$ buy a normal lens cap.

[5] Works great for a manual lens on my Fujifilm X-S10. Was surprised when camera body was able to give accurate exposure in auto!!!! Don't need to carry around a light meter with this combo!mThis lens is light but well made. Great glass gives sharp images!

[1.125 lb] I bought this lens to dive into macro photography, but also for product photography. I was a little overzealous with the focal length, you can't get much more than a quarter into frame on the 1:1 focusing.

The focus is great on this, slow, deliberate and smooth. It has just the right amount of tension in it to nail the focus without going back and forth. However, it's a pretty shallow depth of field. Even on F/11, your focal depth is short.

Aperature ring is de-clicked, which for macro or product photography I think is keen. You can dial in exactly how much you want or anything in between. It helps when trying to balance out all your other settings.

Overall this is an awesome little lens for it's price. Is there slight chromatic aberration, yes. Is there better lenses out there, yes. Are there sharper macro lenses, again yes. However you're looking at this lens and if you are, you aren't looking at those very expensive lenses.

[67 mm (Front)] Well priced and built like a tank.IQ is good. I only wish my R10 had more options in manual mode but that isn't the fault of the lens. These lenses are just easy and fun to use !

[APS-C] This a review of the 7artisans Photoelectric 60mm f/2.8 Macro Mark II lens. I do not understand where the photoelectric reference is referring to, but it is, indeed, a fine lens.

It's fully manual and the focus and aperture rings are smooth and have quality feel. Overall, the lens is well built and solid.

Ou can still use it for distance photography, the throw of the focus ring is very short at those distances.

I'm very happy with this lens, B&H ships quickly and for macro use, you cannot beat it.
