Expanding on their line of panels, the Dracast L500 Plus Bi-Color LED 2-Light Kitfrom Dracast L500 Plus Bi-Color LED 2-Light Kitadds a digital display for adjusting output as well as Cat 5 DMX input and output for linking and comes with both Gold mount and V-mount battery plates. The light features 512 LEDs with a high CRI of 95 for excellent color accuracy. Also, this model features a variable color temperature from 3200-5600K for quickly matching either daylight or tungsten sources without needing to mess around with gels.

The lights offer a spot beam angle of 45°, as well as dimming from 0-100%. Benefiting operation, it can run from either a DC source, such as a Gold mount or V-mount battery, or a universal 100-240 VAC adapter. The light is durable as well, with an aluminum chassis, frame, and mounting yoke, and it only consumes 30W of power. Additionally, it is lightweight at just 4 lb and measures 12 x 6 x 2" in size.

Q: 1. What's the weatherproof-ness like in outdoor ENG applications? Able to withstand heavy rain or even a light-drizzle?

A: Sorry Geoffrey - it wouldn't take any droplets around this light - would short circuit for sure - it's a great light - but they really need to do something about the cheesy plastic female light stand connector.

Q: 2. Are the listed fixture dimensions (30.5 x 15.2 x 5.1 cm) with, or without the yoke attached?

Q: 3. I have decided to buy this 1000 plus daylight fixture or the corresponding 1000 plus bi-color fixture. Traditional thought is to go with daylight because you lose half the LED's on the bi-color and bi-color is not necessary because you can use Gels and or adjust camera settings. However, since the 1000 plus is so powerful, I will essentially have a 500 daylight and a 500 LED tungsten which seems to plenty of brightness so I'm now considering bucking conventional wisdom and going with the bi-color. Just by reviews alone it appears as though the daylight is twice as popular. However, it's my understanding that the bi-color just recently came out which may skew the results. I'm an amateur videographer/photographer so need all the help I can get. Hence, for general all-around use would you go with the daylight or the bi-color? Thanks in advance! John

A: John, It sounds like you don't really need the full power of the LED 1000, as you mention the equivalence to two LED 500 units. A: No they don't but they are battery capable. When you order the light you have to decide which of 2 battery fittings you want on the light. Choose carefully, as some batteries are more expensive than others. I just plug into a wall socket or carry a large diehard battery pack with a regular wall plug built in.Try the Dracast website for more info.

Q: 6. Has anyone found an affordable storage/travel solution for this giant light? Soft or hard case/bag?

A: We do not have any dedicated travel bag or case for the LED2000 lights. However, we do have a couple of hard cases that will work. One is 29x18x10 and the other is 30x21x18 . Whether they are affordable or not depends on your budget. A: The run time would depend on the watt/hour rating of the battery. [Proprietary] This is a great traveling kit for portable lighting on the go. You're getting lots of punch out of these well-built lights. They are with aluminum chassis not cheap plastic. LCD display and controls are easy to read and use. The color temperature are dead on. 5

[Yes] I bought the previous version of this light from Dracast directly and had some issues with it. I called the company and after some more issues, I finally got to a person who was very helpful, ha made the situation right and even replaced the faulty unit with this version, which was very generous and great because this light is amazing. It's nearly impossible (and not worth the trouble) to run it off batteries, but it is such a large source, that it creates gorgeous, soft light with some spun in front of it. The micro-shadows are non-existent, the hardware is tough, and the led is far more accurate than guessing at some vague lines on a dial. 5

[Yes] This is a well-constructed dimmable light fixture with an excellent light output. The yoke is also well-constructed and features a handy 2-way stud receptacle. I say it's handy because I had to use the horizontal opening to attach to the light stand - this was because the soft-box attachment needed to be clear of the yoke - impossible to do when the light was mounted vertically.� The only downside was the very high color temperature. You need gels or plastic sheets to correct the CT. Mine are on backorder so I was stuck on an interview shoot that needed 2700K. 5

[Yes] I'm both a professional photographer and cinematographer and I bought this originally for location video work. The output is incredible (My meter reads f-11 at 1/50 of a second at ASA 400 from 4' away.) The large source produces a much more pleasing light than smaller source led's just by the size and I was able to fake a chimera (strobe-based softbox) on it and it looked amazing.The dimming is accurate and flicker-free and the color is near perfect (certainly better than any other LED I have used) It only weights 10 pounds and while it's large, the quality of the light makes it worthwhile for me to take it on location. It's also powerful enough to use for still work, similar to how you would use a kino - but def requires some opal or tough spun to soften. Also their customer service is the best - No complaints! 5

[Proprietary] We at EffinFunny have been using these lights for a year now, and they are sturdy, durable, easy to use, and you get a ton of flexibility with the bi-color. We had a couple issues with the power supplies that were promptly resolved by Aaron. They are very communicative at dra-cast and work to make sure that you get what you need quickly. They're just nice guys that want to do good work! Refreshing. 5
